Hello all wonder DIS people! I read your reviews all the time and thought I should give back a little "food porn" from the west coast even if it is three months late!

My DH and I are frequent WDW Food and Wine Festival enthusiasts and have been so happy that the last couple years they have tried a smaller but very successful version at California Adventure in April and May. They have free food and wine classes through out the Fri - Sun. of the event and a few high end food classes and wine pairings at Disneyland Resort restaurants. This is the 1st year they did there owenversion of PFTS. It was called TASTE. Food, Wine, Life was the theme. You had to be a passholder to make a reservation for the event and if you were not a premium passholder you had to pay Cal AD. admission to the park on top of the price of the ticket, which was around $100 a person.

The event was at 6pm but you were asked to line up a half hour early and we received wrist bands to confirm we were over 21:angel: our plate and glasses and our menu for the night which was a lanyard.

Once you got that point you waited again in and outside holding area. They had tables and chairs outside you could sit and wait or bring the food and wine to after the event started. Personally I think this is one thing I wish you could do at PFTS. Have an outside area to go take a break at. They also had a "bar" set up with soft drinks and water, which as you know are unavailable for the most part at PFTS.

Now for what everyone wants. The FOOD! Once you are let in it was set up the same as PFTS. Less wine and food being offered but you still had way more then enough. We took my DH Mom and Dad, who we had taken to WDW for the Food and Wine and PFTS last year and they loved it just as much and were as full and tipsy!

They played on and off and people loved them.

All and all it was a great time that I hope they do again next year. California has a long way to go to catch up with WDW and the Festival. It is nice to see them trying! :thumbsup2

I am so sad I missed this :( But my weekends were too packed I would love them to move this up or back in the year so I could go. Though it doesn't look like they had many vegetarian options how was the wine?

Yes, this was a lot of fun but besides salad everything had meat or seafood. I don't know how veggie you are but it is something they should work on a bit. The wines were good. We got to try a few new smaller wineries this year that we have loved and or favorite one was there also. I am a red wine girl but we had 4 white wine people with us who also found many new favorites!

Thanks for posting! I'm going out there next May to try the DLR festival since
I enjoy it so much at WDW. :)

It's fun, it's A LOT smaller then WDW but we hope it's gets bigger! The wineries they have had so far are wonderful but everything is focused on California! Have fun!
