There are going to be new rides and from what one of the cast members have told me they are expecting SKY rocketing numbers. So I've read Hydroguys guide to summer and loved it. I was just hoping if someone could give me a plan of attack for this time. I'm thinking California adventure first early in the morning nock out Ariel Toy story and then.. yah no idea.

Actually since Disneyland opens first, I would say head over there and grab some Fast Passes for Star Tours 2 since that opens up on the same day. If you're there on a Magic Morning, cover at least Peter Pan's flight while you're over there. I'm not sure exactly when DCA opens in the summer, but if it still isn't open by the time the DL park opens to regular guests, I recommend going over and getting Fast Passes for Splash Mountain as well, which is sure to have long summer lines.

Then head over to DCA for rope-drop, and run to Ariel's! I would actually also check to see if you can get to Ariel's faster through the Grand Californian entrance as well. :)

If you get to Ariel's and have a short wait, you should be able to troop through a long TS line before heading back to use your fast passes, which you can actually use any time after the time written on your pass.

Well, hard to predict what to expect since the rides haven't opened yet, but I will point out that at the present time DCA opens later than Disneyland in the summer. Whether DCA's opening time will move up is yet to be seen, but if Disneyland is still opening first, then you should probably start there.

Star Tours is supposed to have fastpass, so my preference would be to get fastpass for that first thing. The negative of that this that I expect the fastpass line itself to be quite long, but I'm confident it will still be preferable to waiting in the full ride line.

I believe your dates are sometime in late August? So the good news is that lots of people will go and try out the new rides and experience the new crowd patterns and report back here and elsewhere before you ever go. You will be better able to build a plan of attack once there are some experiences to learn from.

yay!! star tours is opening again! that is fantastic!

Agreed! :thumbsup2 The ride was a 1987 video... 24 years out dated. Something had to be done, and I am very excited for this change. It will be sad in some ways to see the old show go, but new can also be a great thing. Does anyone know if they are changing the queue too, or just the ride itself? I know the outside of the building is getting some work done, but I was curious about the queue.

well it's not just that. but i loved the old star tours, but disney has to keep up with the changing times i guess..

I loved the old one too but.. I LOVE the idea of a new one. Plus I love the idea of disney getting more money from these changes. It'll hopefully promote more additions and more stuff and just more.

Okay I got it. wiat no I don't...

I'm expecting a hydroguy's or somebodys guide to new disneyland!!!!!

Well, I'm not HydroGuy, but I thought I'd offer some of my insight FWIW.

I think it will be difficult for anyone to offer a "plan of attack" as you asked for until it is seen exactly how Disney sets up the queues for these new attractions and how the flow of them goes. How quickly they load. How often they dispatch. FP or not. And many other elements. These are all factors that affect how to approach any attraction.

If you "walk with purpose" to TSMM right now, unless you are first, you still have a wait. With Ariel's, logic states that will get divided in half. I would suspect most will head to Ariel's first, but that's a crystal ball situation that no one knows for sure.

When Finding Nemo first opened, the lines were EXTREMELY long for a very very long time. Nemo is a slow moving line however. It does not dispatch a new vehicle every 8 seconds, but rather a large number of people every several minutes. These are factors that affect the queue. There is no FP and it is a long ride, physically, in terms of time once you board.

It's not going to create a new Disneyland. It's two new attractions... with one at DCA at that. Now, when CarsLand opens, that could be an entire new deal!

Once the new attractions open, many of us can offer experience and observations that will hopefully help including them in a touring plan, but atm, it's purely a guessing game.

I'm not HydroGuy, but there's my 2 cents,

Dreams did a pretty good job standing in for me! :)

I am actually at the "other Disney" at the moment and just got back from an awesome day ay Disney Hollywood Studios and a caloried-packed No Way Jose ice cream at Beaches & Cream. :cool1:

TSMM is insanely crowded here - the DCA goers have it easy. We rode TSMM three times today. But I agree with Dreams that LMAUA will split the morning DCA crowds with more going to LMAUA. And ST2 and LMAUA will split the DL/DCA crowds. So will crowds grow? Maybe. They grew a lot last summer with WOC but seemed to grow more at night than morning.

There are two thoughts that come to mind when I think of the OP request.

First, when choosing a day to go ST2 and you are not staying on property, I would definitely choose a non-Magic Morning Hour Day. You will not have to compete with hotel guests and opening guests for those FPs. That is how I would do it.

Second, I would plan on getting to DCA by 9:00am. The line will be huge simply because of the work being done for the new front entrance and for LMAUA. Just be aware of the time if you choose to go to DL before you head on over to DCA.

HydroGuy, have fun at WDW!

Unless you are staying at the hotel, you probably won't be able to use that entrance to get in to DCA in the morning. I have heard they cracked down on people using it first thing in the morning. Not sure if other two on site hotel guests can use it or just GCH guests. Last summer we used it to eat at Whitewater Snacks in the afternoon and never got checked for a reciept at that time. But I know people reported back they checked first thing in the morning.

We are going for 5 1/2 days in July- we added an extra day from last year to allow for crowds (and also to leave on a Sat). I can't wait to see what people report back about the new rides. DL first everyday has always been our plan of attack but we'll have to see if they change the hours this summer. Also, I'm interested to see how the line for Mermaid changes throughout the day, if at all.

I was going to say the same thing. The GC enterance was always intended to be a "private" enterance for hotel guests. With the addition of WoC they now use this enterance as intended, especailly first thing in the AM.

Also wanted to add the SoCal AP variable.
The summer blackouts begin right after the new rides open, so a good plan of attack might be to plan to ride the new ones on wed-sat as the "I have an AP and there is something new to see" crowd will not be there. Except the deluxes and Premiums.

wait a minute so if I have any day I want to go outta that week to go it should be wed through sat? I'll have to change my dates.

Any paying guest of the Disney hotels is allowed to use the entrance first thing in the morning, so that includes guests of PP, DLH, and GCH. In February we were allowed to use the GCH entrance at opening even though we were not staying at any of the hotels but because we had a receipt from Storyteller's Cafe where we had just finished breakfast. I don't know what the exact policy is on which eating establishments qualify you for the perk, but apparently they decided that Storyteller's, being just around the corner from the entrance, was fine.

during June, yeah. Especially if you take into account reports that the last few years that the non-blacked out dates in june were overwhelming. I don't begrudge the SoCal/ SoCal select passholders for getting in one last hurrah before the blackouts. Isn't that what Carnivale and Mardi Gras are all about- feasting before a long fast?
