this has nothing to do with disne it not a disney bus but thought it a good reminder for you to make sure you watch the cross walk and yeild the right of way. If this bus driver yeild the right of wy these two kids would still be alive the kids had the signal and the bus should have stoped. Sorry if this breaks disboards rules but i thought tat it would give us drivers a reminder that their are other people on the road. My prayes go out to both of their parents it must be hard to lose 2 kids this way.

This is especially bad in Orlando. I'm a local and an outdoor runner and I have learned to ALWAYS stop, make eye contact with the driver, and wait to be waved through any intersection with a crosswalk. They will honestly run me down if I don't. I remember while driving recently I stopped at a crosswalk for some young kids crossing and the line of cars behind me were honking for me to keep going :scared1: Either they are blind to pedestrians or so darn impatient that they couldn't care if a life is lost.

Anyways, I'm off my soapbox, but please, please be an aware driver. If you can't drive, read your directions, and watch for pedestrians, let some else drive. A lynx bus especially should have known better.

In new York you have to stop for some one in the cross walk no matter what aide they start or they get a 100 ticket. It helped and surprised fl dosent do the same thing. Now we have to stop even if they haven't made it to your side as long even if their no signal it state law that you have to stop and if it a signal you have to stop and Make sure no one in the cross walk. It makes the NYC taxi driver mad because they cant just make a turn they have to stop and make sure that the cross walk clear but could take a couple light just to get 5 cars through if it a bust interstion. Not that everyone stop still but know they get a ticket if they don't

As a current Civil Engineering student specializing in Transportation engineering, our number one priority when designing anything is safety. However, we can only ensure safety if we have drivers that bother with safety themselves. It is especially bad around campus because on the one hand you have drivers that are impatient and don't stop at crosswalks and on the other hand you have pedestrians that wait until the light is about to turn green for the car they are crossing and then go. Please remember to be safe at crosswalks or I may be investigating the accident some day.

I always make eye contact, give a little wave, smile and say thank you as I cross the street.

I try to always cross in a marked cross walk. If I cross in the middle of the block when there is a proper crosswalk available, I figure I am "fair game".
