DS The Pre-schooler 4yo Cant wait to get to Disney to see Mickey, Spongebob & Crash Bandicoot! (think I combined too many Disney & Universal trips?)
Hmmmmmmm, maybe we should re-evaluate the above. I know for a fact that I still love Disney very, very much. MagicalDad is still continuing his quest for relaxation & I doing my of course am doing the best I can help him out. The Teen, well I think deep down she still loves Disney but right now she has other things on her mind, you know, her friends, her clothes, her hair. The Youth, hmmmmm he appears to be loving Disney when he feels like it. The Pre-Schooler is having a great time! (just between you & me, if him & I went alone we would be in Disney heaven!)
Okay! Today is Animal Kingdom day! WooHoo!
The wake-up call came bright & early at 7:30. I tried to get one of the kids to answer this time, thinking they might enjoy it. None of them would. They aren't quite as thrilled to hear Mickey & Stitch in the early morning as I am. Odd huh?
After waking the troops & pushing them out the door, we arrived at Animal kingdom just as it was opening. As soon as we made our way through the crowd we ran straight for Bugs Life. The Teen, Youth, Pre-Schooler & I really enjoyed the show. MagicalDad enjoyed a nice nap.
Next it was time for our priority seating (or whatever its called now) at Donalds. We were pretty excited since we had never been there before. We all found plenty of delicious food to eat, except for one of us. Yep, the picky Youth. He began breakfast by sitting there, grouchy & grumpy. Refusing to even see if there was anything he may like. As soon as he found out that they didnt have chocolate Pop Tarts he was miserable. I had to find a way to snap him out of this mood before the characters showed up or else our breakfast pictures were going to stink. I want them to at least look happy in the vacation pictures for goodness sakes!
As soon as everyone in our area was seated the waiter announced that he would like to play trivia while we eat. He began asking questions about the rides & movies. Being a Disers, of course I knew most of the answers. I whispered them to Magicaldad & he answered them. (dont ask why I whispered them, I guess I just didnt feel like speaking up. Who knows?) Before I knew it, the Youth was in on the fun. Stealing my answers, eating breakfast & posing with the characters. I dont remember the waiters name, but all I can say is Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
After breakfast we headed over to Dinosaur. I asked the Pre-Schooler over & over again if he was sure he wanted to ride. Last year he was too short to ride most of the rides & I was a bit worried about him. He insisted on riding & enjoyed it very much!
Off to the Safari. Great fun! We didnt get to see too many animals, but by this time it was almost noon. Due to my all wise & Disney knowledge obtained from studying the Disboards, I had a feeling this may happen & was well prepared.
We took the kids over to the boneyard thinking we could rest a bit while they played. As soon as we entered they were off & running. No resting for us right now. Every time I turned around we had a missing child. It took us forever to gather them together so that we could move on to the next ride.
Next it was time for the Lion King. Oh how I love this show. If I was only 15 years young & 20 lbs thinner I would give anything to be the girl swinging from the rope. I was so, so jealous of her. Its just no fair. Im trying to get over it, but I really want to be her!
DH took this opportunity to experience another refreshing nap. He is truly able to sleep through anything!
After the Lion King we headed over to Primeval Whirl. The Teen & I rode together. She enjoyed it a lot. I guess my aging body just cant hack it anymore because I felt like I had been beat up by the time I got off. Next Magical Dad & the Youth rode. They both loved it.
We had a little bit of time before the parade was scheduled to start so MagicalDad & the kids thought they would take a break & throw some money away on the carnival type games. He considers himself to be the King of Whack-a-Mole. He proved himself right by winning a little stuffed dinosaur. For one split second I held my breath. Weve been through this before. One prize, three kids, no one admitting that they dont really want it & will just throw it in the closet anyways. The Pre-Schooler was the first to ask for it. I glanced at the others, waiting for one of them to complain. To my absolute shock & disbelief neither of them seemed to care. Looks like they are starting to grow-up.
We noticed that one of our spray fans had lost it fan part. There is no telling where we lost it. Im sure if we could find it that we could just snap it back in place. I began to retrace our steps. But its just worthless, weve traveled too far today. MagicalDad, being somewhat cheap, I mean thrifty, asked a CM if they sold extra parts. She explained that they dont & gave us a new working spray fan for free! That was so nice of her!
By the time the parade started it was raining pretty good so we decided to make our way to the exit. On our way we hear the Pre-Schooler shout look Momma its Mary Pops!!! (Mary Poppins). Odd I thought, Mary Poppins at Animal Kingdom? As we made our way closer I saw that it was actually Jane from Tarzan. Honey, thats not Mary Poppins, that is Jane, I attempted to explain. He would hear nothing of it. I obviously didnt know what I was talking about. Giving up, we got in line so that I could take his picture with Mary Poppins.
Returning to POR, the rain was starting to let up. We grabbed a quick dinner at the food court & threw on our swimsuits. I had to take a moment to reassure the Teen that housekeeping did not steal her favorite bathigsuit & yea, she looked fine in her new one. Off to Ole Man Island we go. This is becoming the kids favorite part of vacation. It also allows MagicalDad the relaxation that he was guaranteed upon agreeing to this trip. Of course I make sure to mention that to him, often.
The pool wasnt too crowded. I glance over to the slide to see if there are many people standing around it. Why must people stand there all day long? Cant they just walk away for a moment so that I can try the slide out without people seeing me? If only another adult would go down. Ughhhhhh.
I swim around with the Teen, never letting the slide get far from my view. She knows how I long to go down the slide. She also knows the humiliation we will both feel if the top of my tankini blows up & I blind ½ of the pool on the way down. It was just this time last year that I embarrassed my family while boogey boarding at the ocean. Yep, got pulled under & wasnt completely dressed when I popped back up. Those poor boys standing next to me were probably scarred for life. Guess I better stay away from that slide. Sigh.
We end our day at the pool. Wasnt too bad of a day. Not too much whining. Not too much complaining. I think we had a good day.
Thanks to me of course, it appears that I provided them with just the correct balance of rest & fun.
Up next, MagicalDad finally get to Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Just like I promised.
