Have any of you missed a period while taking birth control pills? I missed, and then took a pregnancy test this morning, and it was negative. :D I called my ob-gyn and he said it is normal to miss occasionally. Anyone else experience this? (anyone else experience this, and actually been pregnant?)

I take pills to try and regulate a cycle, however I often miss them. After missing a couple I'll usually do a test just to be sure I'm not expecting, but I never have been. If you aren't sure I suggest a quick run by the doctor's office for a blood draw just to be safe if you think there is a chance you might be - especially if you were not consistent in taking your pills. Sometimes with just a phone call they will go ahead and do a lab call out for you, then you don't have to do the office visit - just see the lab and then get the results...

I skipped last month, probably because I am losing weight. I am on the pill, too, but every so often I skip. Nothing to be too concerned about, but like you, I will take a pg test when it happens. And freak a bit until my period shows up.

I guess I didn't make myself clear :)
I missed my TOM, I didn't miss any pills.. :D

It's perfectly normal, or that's what I hear. I wish I would miss one of mine.

I was on The Pill for nearly 15 years, and did occasionally miss a cycle (or my flow would be different than "normal"--spotting or very light). After I was on one Pill formulation (Ortho-Novum 777) for about 10 years, I began skipping periods consistently (no cycle for 3-4 months). OB/GYN said this was not unusual after being on one type of pill for so long, so she switched me to a different formulation, and my periods became regular again. Many things can affect your cycles: excercise, stress, nutrition, illness... As long as you are taking your pills as directed, skipping a cycle is not uncommon. But as with anything, check with your Dr. if you feel unsure. Having the "could-I-be-pregnant?" butterflies can be exciting or frightening (or both!), depending on your perspective!

After having DD 3 1/2 years ago, I restarted Loestrin. Now I have a period about once overy four or five months. Most of the time, I get nothing, once in a while a spot or two. My doc says it is normal and hey, I ain't complaining! ;) :p

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Hmmm...maybe I should go see my doctor! So tired of it every month!

Thanks for all your imput.. either way would have been okay, but since we weren't planning for a third child, I am glad the pg test was negative!

Sandy, those were my same exact thoughts. I was just telling DH I should go the pill because you miss some months. I then read your post. :p
I just got my monthly visitor yesterday. I have not had him in 18 months. (pregant and then nursing) Let me tell you I have NOT missed it. ::yes::
