A question for Teachers

I'm not a teacher, but my kids are always needing glue sticks, we have to supply 3 boxes of tissues this year.

I would appreciate pens, pencils, glue sticks, crayons and markers for kids who don't have them or who have lost them.

you are so sweet--

pencils, clorox wipes, kleenex, glue sticks

I always have a wish list for additional items if you want to see if your teacher has one.

Kleenex, pens for grading, stickers to use on student papers, white board markers.

If a student gave you some extra supplies for your class, what would you like to receive (pens, staples, etc.)?

Kleenex. Lysol spray. Antibacterial spray cleaner (fantastic, or something else w/o bleach). Pens. Germ-ex. Expo markers. Stickers. Ink pads and stamps. Packing tape. Ziploc bags.

Those are all things that we ended up buying at some point last year in our classroom.

We had a few families send in "gifts" of these items at the holiday break. It was wonderful!

Are you referring to student supplies, teacher supplies, or both?

Teacher:
magnet clips
Sharpies
clear Contact paper
colorful, lined Post-It notes
colorful dry-erase markers

Students:
Crayola Twistable crayons
white glue sticks
#2 yellow wooden pencils

I am referring to both. My children will now enter middle school. In elementary school we only had 2 teachers. I gave "packages" to them in the beginning of the year. This year we have six teachers, so I am planning on only giving to the homeroom teacher, plus two other teachers I know do not have a homeroom and do not get their share of supplies from the students.

As far as the "cleaning supplies", I did not think they could use clorox, lysol, etc. At the end of school last year we were asked to send in shaving cream to clean the desk as they were not allowed to use any type of "cleaner".

I would love it if one of my families would choose to send in tissues every month. I think the kids eat them or are stuffing their pockets but we run out of tissues every month and I don't have a lot of extra storage room. It would be great to have someone send in something needed every month so I wouldn't have to find storage.

Other than that, computer paper, avery labels to print out reminder stickers for planners, and washable stamp pads are my biggest expenses.

Your child's teacher may already have a "wish list" posted on her web page (I know I do!!!).

If not, I'd like to receive the items that I spend my own money on: dry erase markers, sharpies, craft items, notepads, stickers, books, etc.

I was going to say glue sticks, but then you said middle school!

So, I would say pens and tissue would be my top things for that age group!

Not sure about middle....

I think my first graders eat pencils though! Pencils and dry erase markers are the biggies. I got ziploc bags coming out my ears!

Kleenex is always good!

I'm not a teacher, but I am a para and we always run out of: tissues (kleenex - best to give extras after Christmas, though, as it can be a storage issue), pencils, cap erasers, glue sticks, dry erase markers, Chlorox wipes, etc.

I guess it depends on the grade, but...
with Kindergarten we went through glue sticks like water :lmao:
Tissues and paper towels.
That is very kind of you to donate some supplies :goodvibes

I'm in a middle school and we always use our own $$ to buy wipes, lysol, disinfectant. The custodians use the same towels to wipe off desks throughout the school (gross!) I start each morning wiping down desks, door knobs and light switches. If I'm in a time crunch, I give a nice spray of lysol. We didn't get sick last year even with immuno suppressed kids and an 80% attendance rate due to H1N1.

I guarantee you, nearly every teacher has a can of lysol stashed in his/her room... to spray down desks after a kid sneezes all over the place. ;)

Pencils
Loose-leaf paper
Tissues
Hand sanitizer
Notecards
Cap erasers

As a middle/high school teacher, these are the things that I buy for my room because I never have enough. It would be great to have someone else contribute.

OP, wish I had more parents like you!

I know I do! :thumbsup2

Tissues and pencils.

I ask every year for tissues and usually one of two kids will bring in a box, but that's it. I end up getting the big packs from BJs. I did have a student this year that I had to tell to bring his own tissues because he was going through almost a box a day on his own. I'm not willing to pay for that. It was either bring your own or use the paper towels from the bathroom.
