A question for parents.....

DD#1 was trained at 2.5yrs, although we had tried for a long time.
DD#2 was trained at 2yr 4months.
Their doctor said to just ask them if they want to wear big girl panties and they day they say yes, then they are ready.

valid1977 - don't dispair - DS was 4yrs 2mos when he was fully trained (for the day - but don't ask me about night....4yrs9mo - not quite yet!) He had absolutely no interest in the potty, I tried everything from age 2. We finally gave up asking him, etc and he finally did it on his own. Be careful with pullups - when we went from diapers to pullups I'm sure he thought "oh great - I can now pee/poop in these things that feel more like underwear" They just prolonged the problem. Pullups were a big mistake for us!
DD on the other hand was fully night and day at 2 1/2yrs!

DDs were trained at 2 1/2. I was really stressed out about training two (twins) at the same time, but it actually was easier than I thought it would be. In about a month they were trained for the day and a couple of months after that for the night.

She said it is normal to have the children potty trained by age 1. That seems really early to me.

Early is right! My DD (17) didn't even begin WALKING until 14 months. I couldn't imagine her even being able to SIT on the potty!

He's not trained yet -- DS is almost 2 1/2 now and knows how to go to the potty and will go before his bath, but still won't go during the day.

Somewhere between 2 & 2 1/2....Mandy had it down by the time she was 3 and hopefully Cassie will to..Just have to work on the overnight thing..

Travis thought he was ready at about 26 months but he didn't want to leave his outside to go into the house to use the bathroom, so I put him back in diapers.

He decided about two months later that he didn't want diapers again and that time it worked.

His pediatrician told me that he would tell me when he was ready and he did. I laughed though when the pediatrician told me that if he made it to first grade without being trained to come and see him. Fortunately, that didn't happen.

My oldest trained himself at age 2, I thought it was the greatest thing since he just basically told me he no longer wanted diapers, and started using the potty. Never had any problems with him.

My youngest came along and just sent us all into a tizzy. That child would put everything into the potty except for pee and poop! Heh heh! One time he woke up before me and I saw him on the pot naked except for he had his snow boots on (he loved these snow boots, and refused to ever take them off, we had to take them off of him when he was sleeping!). Anyway, I was so proud that he actually was using the pot, that I never even bothered to say anything about not taking off the snowboots when he went to the potty, until I discovered he had thrown every stitch of clothing he was wearing IN the pot! Thank God he didn't throw the snowboots in too! :)

I thought he would never train, but eventually, he decided he liked using the potty. He was about 3 1/2. He has never had an accident, so I guess he just decided he was ready when HE was ready, not when WE were ready. :)

My mother-in-law brought over a potty chair on my daughter's 2nd birthday. We took it out of the box and set it in the living room. My daughter took off her diaper, sat on it, and went to the bathroom. That was it! :p
She had one accident a few days later but that was all.

I have a pre-school (ages 2 1/2 - 6) and we have children who aren't potty trained.
MOST are trained by age 3, but not all.
There are plenty of accidents! ;)
