Approximately how long does it take you from the minute you land to get to your resort room? Our flight is scheduled to land at 3:30 p.m.. We are renting a car from National and going straight to the Emerald Aisle to pick up the car. I'm guessing we'll get to our room (at the Dolphin) by 5:00. What do you think? This is a first for my family, we useually just drive down. Thanks for any info.:)

The best we've done is 45 minutes from exiting the plane. Normally it's an hour to get off the plane, get your baggage, get the car and drive to the resort. Once you get the car you are only 30 minutes out.:D

I agree with DisnyDad. We always plan an hour at best to one and 1/2 from plane to hotel.

Best we've ever done was 45 minutes, that was with no checked luggage and no lines or traffic. I've had it be over two hours, when we had to wait for luggage, wait for the car, wait for an accident to be cleared, and wait in line to check in.

Normally I plan on an hour to an hour and a half.

It's about half an hour drive from MCO to WDW.

As long as flight is not delayed (which occurs with a lot of flights these days), 5 p.m. is a pretty good estimate for getting to the resort, could be somewhat shorter or longer. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to get off the plane and get to the baggage area. Baggage generally takes another 10 to 30, just depending on how fast they get it to the terminal and whether your bags come out early or late. Another 10 minutes to get to the car and leave (EA makes it very easy). It is about a 25 minute drive.

When we went in May 2000, we were at the resort in about an hour.

When we went in Jan. there were no cars available. Some families were already waiting almost 2 hours and were obviously fuming. We had a strict schedule to make because we were running the Disney 1/2 marathon and had to pick up our stuff within 1.5 hours of our landing. After waiting over 1/2 hour I finally got a car with Budget for double the price. Just as I was about to sign the Budget contract DH yelled that National found us a car. For some reason they upgraded us to a Ford Explorer, while the other families, who were there a lot longer, still waited. I think it might have been because we were EA members, but couldn't stick around to find out the reason.

since I try to carry on my bags that saves lots of time. if not then it was 20 min to get my bags, 10min to get to the bag claim area(thats 30 there) then 10 to go get the car 5 to check it out and then 22 min to get to the resort. if you are traveling in a time that has a lot of traffic figure in a lot of extra time. like maybe 20-30 min more. I would guess about 45 min to an hr an a half depending on traffic.

Thanks for all of the educated info. I guess I'll plan on arriving at the resort around 5:00 (our plane lands at 3:30). That should be a fairly safe time frame to start planning from. It'll be a light evening anyway, but I just wanted to get an idea of how much time we will have after we arrive. Sounds like time for dinner and a brief trip to DD.:D

Our best time was less than an hour from landing to pulling into the hotel; but we had carry-on luggage, no kids and we rented from Avis (which is very close the terminal) and used their preferred program.

It takes us 25 minutes tops to get to the Boardwalk from MCO.
We always carry on our luggage and do National Emerald Isle.
Have our quarters ready at the toll road and use the "exact change" lane.
We have our travelling to WDW down to an "exact science"
