The best place to start is at the beginning…. Many, many years ago… when I was about 10 years old my parents … being the wonderful people they are, took my sister and I to Disney World….. not that I remember much about it (as my own children would say that was back when they discovered dirt)…. :car: Fast forward to 1997. Our first family trip to the Happiest Place on Earth!!! The cast of characters was DH, DD, DS and myself. I knew I had at least two of them hooked when DD was crying on the last day as we stood at the end of Main Street looking at the castle and DS was amazed at the double rainbow behind the castle – exclaiming that Mom was right this was the most magical place in the world. Since that first trip there have been on countless others.. 28 actually… some with all four of us… some with two or three of us and some with just me.. traveling with my DSis…. So that brings me to this trip and the purpose of this pre-trip report … besides the fact that my friend Jenjolt asked me to do one…

The Girls are doing Disney!!!!!!!!

Having just arrived home from DS 16th birthday trip at the end of Jan 2009 … yes just a couple of weeks ago…. The guilt was settling in about not taking DD who is in college:confused3 … but what was I to do… she was away at school…. I know book a trip when she was out of school… so the planning began. :surfweb: A few years ago I brought my Aunt…her first trip at the age of 66… after that trip she asked me to take her back… and then there was a long time family friend… also age 66.. never been to Disney… and my Mom… who loves to do fun things…. You all see where I am going with this…. So after a few phone calls everyone was on board… and then I needed to convince DH that yes it was okay to go three months later… so I put DD up to it… he can’t ever tell her no:stir:…. so after a quick phone call to Daddy it was all set….

The cast of Characters for this trip……

Me…. Wendy.… lover of all things Disney… dream is to retire from my job here, move to mouseland where DH can play golf and I can make Disney goody baskets to deliver to those having magical vacations….

DD… Maggie… college freshman… wonderful young lady…kind hearted and as sweet as can be…

DMom… Dawn…. Loves to have fun… never takes a serious photo… loves her grandchildren

Daunt……Lorl….DMoms sister… loves to come to my house to visit with my Mom… I always take good care of them…. My uncle loves me for taking my aunt away and giving him a week of peace and quiet…

DFriend….Pat….. DMoms best friend….. grew up with her family…. Has had much heartache in her life and this is her first trip to Disney!!!

Our trip will be the third week of May… so now I have all the planning to do….first…hotel…

Because I am paying college tuition I wanted to keep this trip as reasonable as possible… so where to stay…. Well let’s try for POR… they have that trundle bed and DD is a tiny little thing… 5ft and about 100 lbs. So the call was made…. “What do you mean no I can’t stay in that room”…:confused3 . “PLEASE” ….. yes that was about how my conversation went with the people at Disney travel…. Finally I convinced them that yes I know how big the room is, and yes I know that the trundle bed is for a child… but honestly… I have seen 10 year olds bigger than DD so shouldn’t it be based on size and not age…. Sorry for that rant…..well the nice lady said okay!! YES… WE ARE IN…. okay… now to add dining…. DONE….. oh and did I mention that DH is retired military so we get 40% off the room rate deal that they are offering now…… this is looking good so far…. :woohoo:

Just a side note… when we were there in January Dh and DS were on a package…. I was not… long story but lets just say that I recently had surgery and the nice folks at Disney allowed me to be in the room and not on the package… that meant that I had to buy my tickets separate and no dining plan (that was okay)…. So here I am at the counter at the Magic Kingdom and the price for the 5 day ticket was around $235… so I call DH over and say “You know for just about $60 more we could buy 5 day tickets for all of us to use on a trip later this year….” And to my surprise he said do it…. I handed the lady my Disney Visa card faster than you could imagine… so those are the tickets we are using this time….:rolleyes1

Okay so lets see where we are….
Cast of Characters…..done
Hotel……done
Dining added…..done
Airline…. Not done…

The search for reasonable airline began…. Hello… can you say in about 15 minutes I had direct flights from Rochester to Orlando for $164 each… YES!!!! Then I decided it was worth the extra $12 a person to confirm our seats right then… after all I didn’t want the 5 of us split up on the plane… and the last time I took my DMom and DAunt on a trip they misbehaved on the plane… its really funny that these two older woman can really get things going…. They are too funny!!!

Recap… tickets, hotel, dining, airline all done…. Now to rejoin Tour guide mike so that I can get those best days… what he doesn’t have them published…. I am beginning to sweat… yes I know its not a pretty picture but I became very nervous about this… so a call I made to my DSis…. For an hour we talked about how can this be… doesn’t Mike know we have to figure out our dining… oh I should mention that my DSis and her husband will be there the week before we are going…t hey are DVC owners and take a few trips a year…. So we spend a great deal of time stressing over the fact that the information and park hours weren’t posted:scared1: … then what happens… Mike post her week but not mine…. She is all happy and giddy about being able to plan… while I sit here and try to strategize what to do…. Well… I do know that I want to take them all to dinner at Cinderella Royal table… I think everyone should eat there once… okay for us it has been many first times… but that’s okay…. Then my DAunt really liked Chef Mickey’s…. don’t ask me why as I don’t think the food is all that great:confused3 … but she loved it… so being the somewhat good researcher that I am I know that although the booking for dining is 90 days out I can book these two places….

Hello.. Disney Dining…. After a little changing around I was able to get reservations at Both Chef Mickey’s and Cinderella Royal table…..

So that’s where we are at…. On Sunday I will call to make the rest of our dining reservations… I am looking at Mama Melrose for a Fantasmic package, San Angel Inn at DD request, the tea at the Grand Floridian, and Crystal Palace at DMom’s request.

I now have to begin the planning of making shirts, autograph books, etc…. feel free to stay along for the ride….

   YAY a PTR and I'm here I'm here:banana:

Oh Wendy you are going to be there the week before me UUGHHH!!! Well you can get the park all ready for my arrival LOL!!!

Okay so I'm so excited for you and this girls trip it sounds FABULOUS!! I can't wait to hear all about your details!!

Guess what...I'm eating at the castle too YAY!!!!!

Came to check out your all girls pre-trippie!! Sounds SOOO GREAT!

So, you are much more experienced at this whole thing than me, I see! Too bad I'm going in 3 days and you are going in May, or I'd be able to benefit from your expertise. Well, this trip is by no means our last, so I'll be checking in to get your tips!

Congrats on the trip! I'm so happy for you!

I'm so jealous of how many trips you've made and that you're going again so soon! I'm glad you got everything planned so quickly...you're such a pro! :goodvibes

What an awesome trip you have planned already! Can't wait to hear more! We will be there May 13 through June 1!! Second trip and just a tad bit excited!!

Jen... one of these days we will be there at the same time....

I have been glued to the tv all morning... watching the news about the plane crash in Buffalo (thats where I am originally from.... ) so sad....

But alas my 28 trips do not qualify me enough for making dining reservations so my Mom and my Aunt are coming for a visit so they can be here Sunday morning when I call.... honestly!!!! :lmao: I really think the point of them driving the two hours for a visit is my Aunt wants help picking out wall paper and I told them I have some surprises for them....

What might you ask.... well I ordered some Disney pins on Ebay and I have many... still in the package... lanyards from the Year of a Million Dreams winnings... so I have made them each up a lanyard... one for Mom, Aunt and friend (Pat)... plus I have made them each a autograph book with their favorite character on it... they turned out perfect!!!!! Mom's has Eyeore, Aunt has Mickey and Pat (friend) has Snow White.... I also did up some yummy Valentines day bags for them with sweets in them....

So I am guessing that is the true meaning of their visit....
Next on the list to make are the t-shirts.... a wonderful DIssr made up a design for me with 5 stick figure girls on it.... I can't wait to finish them....

until next time....

Thanks for stopping by.... where are you staying... I see you are DVC owners. My sister is also... they will be at WDW the week before us staying at the Boardwalk Villas...

Okay so maybe even after 28 trips I can forget something about dining reservations.... up seems that after all my "don't worry I have it covered" nonsense I FORGOT to make one of our dining reservations:confused3 .... MY BAD.... well thank goodness I have Disney Dining on speed dial :lmao: ...... don't laugh it is true..... so here is what we have for dining reservations...

Arrival Day.. Saturday May 16th... counter service at hotel... as we will be arriving after 6:30 pm.. having never stayed at POR I am curious about the dining hall... I loved the Pepper Market  but didn't care for the dining hall at CBR:sad2: .. so we will have to see....

Sunday May 17th... Magic Kingdom Day... breakfast in room, counter service for lunch (either Peco Bills or Columbia Harbour House) and Cinderellas Royal Table for dinnerprincess: . As I said before I think everyone should experience a meal in the Castle... just for the atmosphere.... I think my traveling buddy's will love it....

Monday May 18th... Epcot Day... breakfast in room, counter service for lunch.. not sure about where... think the Seasons place in the Land because of its large variety but love Morrocco also... dinner will be at the San Angel Inn.... although this reservation I can't make until tomorrow because they are not Disney owned you have to call exactly 90 days out.... I don't htink it will be a problem though... we are hoping to make it thru a whole day here... one of our traveling buddies has bad allergies... I am hoping that the Flower and Garden Festival doesn't play havoc with our planspopcorn:: .... or her nose!!!

Tuesday May 19.... Animal Kingdom Day.... breakfast in room, lunch we will be paying out of pocket at the Garden View Tea Room at the Grand Floridian... done this before and loved it.... dinner will be counter service at hotel.. I am pretty sure we can get thru this park by 1pm... after all two of our travelers don't like rollar coasters... one doesn't now if she likes them because she hasn't been on one in over 20 years.... my guess is NO... and DD and I have been on them so much that if we have to forgo them then that just means we need to plan another trip....:rotfl:
Wednesday... May 20th Hollywood Studios...... you guessed it breakfast in the room, lunch will be counter service ...looking for recomendations here as I really don't like anything at HS counter service... dinner will be the Fantasmic Dining Package at Mama Melrose...
Thursday May 21... Magic Kingdom... breakfast.... Crystal Palace.. this is the one that I forgot to make... scored an 8:05 am time... will be crazy busy though as it is EMH that morning at Magic Kingdom... which I NEVER go to... but we love to start and end our trips at Magic Kingdom.... lunch will be counter service somewhere... maybe even back at the hotel... and dinner will be at Chef Mickeys....

So that is the ins and outs of our dining....

I was able to complete the t-shirts that lisabell designed for me... thank you! They turned out so cute... we are all going to wear them on the plane...

Oh Wendy we'll both be doing the tea!! I can't wait...I'm a huge tea party fan and I can't wait to have this tea...I'm very very excited about it!! I hope you guys have the best girls trip ever!

Thanks Jen... we have done this tea before and it is wonderful... we are excited also!!!! I still can't believe we are missing each other.... my Sister wants me to go down with her in October but I don't think I will be able to.

What a great pre-trip report. I am going to be with some people who are "less-than-roller-coaster-crazy" people on my trip as well. I have decided that I can do those things on my two solo days. I think it is great you can all have a good time together. We'll miss each other by as couple of weeks. I am heading to WDW in April.

Have a great time.

:) Thanks for stopping by my report. Yes, I have a lot of Dining Plans. The trip pretty much revolves around it. I am a chef by trade, and I look forward to trying the work of my contemporaries, and not having to cook for a week. That is the advantage of a few solo days and going with all adults with like tastes. I can pretty much do what I want to do with dining.

The Deluxe Dining Plan seems to be the way to go. Most of my ADR's are two credit meals. I have only one formal breakfast planned for the week. I usually just have an apple or a roll of some sort for breakfast, so the snack credits chould take care of that.

I did some messing around with the allears website menus and figured out,
even with eating at all of the 2 credit places, I am saving about $170 on the Deluxe Dining Plan:teacher: or about 28%. The real value is in the appetizer course, which is not included in the "regular dining plan".
If I wanted to, I don't think I could finish 3 meals a day on the Deluxe Plan.

Some day, your food will come, and your DH will get to do the fancy dining. I just know it...Magically...:wizard:

Planning is another word for changing... yes I am convinced of that... everyone had the opportunity to say what kind of dining they wanted while we are at the World... we had it all planned... most reservations were made.... yes I said most... if you remember from the last installment we still needed to make our dining reservation at San Angel Inn... but being that they are not Disney owned that 90 plus 10 day rule didn't apply. Well we hit the 90 day mark and I called... and much to my surprise the lovely CM told me that San Angel Inn would be closed for refurbishment.... OH NO... now I have missed my window for dining in Epcot.... what was I going to do.... think..think..think.... Le Cellier... ya right.. nothing open... CHefs de France.... nothing open... Okay how about dinner with the Princesses in Norway... thinking to my self there is no way there will be anything here but I was grasping at straws at this point....

We have tried Rose and Crown... twice... neither time did we have a great experience... nice folks... not great food... I love Morocco but didn't think the "ladies" in my traveling party would.... not a big fan of Germany... so that left Italy... and we will have eaten Italian the night before....

so as I was waiting for the CM to tell me NO availabilty I was thinking of other places to go... maybe over to the Beach Club or something....but wait... the CM says we have availability at 6:20..will that work... YES we will take it....

WOW.... I was a little worried... now we have 4 "character meals" for the week... YIKES... am I crazy.... I usually can only handle 2...

Dinner in the castle... okay that almost doesn't count as a character meal because they really don't come and hang out with you...

Then the Princesses in Norway.... I think the ladies will like this..
Breakfast at Crystal Palace... love this one... breakfast is great and I love Tigger...
Dinner at Chef Mickeys... again not my choice but my Mom and Aunt... so we will go and twirl our napkins around and have fun....
