Day 6 - November 11

Today is my birthday. I wake up not sure what to expect since we all had meltdowns the day before and didn’t end the night too happy. But, it was a new day, it was my birthday & we were in Disney. DH and both DD’s bought me the Mickey Mouse zipped sweatshirt that I liked. We ate breakfast at the food court again...chocolate chip pancakes are really good...then we head over to Epcot.

Epcot wasn’t too full. It was more full over at the World Showcase, but it still wasn’t bad at all. We ate lunch at the Land food court...wasn’t too impressed. The girls wanted to go on rides, so we headed over to Test Track. The line was pretty long, but it moved fast. Everyone loved this ride. Of course it was DH’s favorite and it was also DD5’s favorite. DD13 and DDF wanted to ride Mission:Space. I was a little nervous about riding it and decided to wait until later since we had all just eaten. DD13 and DDF went on it anyway. I was worried about DD13 because she gets car sick sometimes, but when they came off the ride she was fine. They loved it! They wanted to go on again so DH and I went on with them. DH liked it at first, but by the time we got off, he wasn’t feeling too well. I loved it. As we came off the ride we saw a man and woman fighting and he was insisting that they were going to pack up and go home. Apparently another family member didn’t want to go on rides and others did. DH and I looked at each other, because of the spats we all had the day before, and he said to me “At least now we know it’s not just us.” DSis, DH, and I all laughed. We were beginning to notice families everywhere that were having what sounded like the same arguments as we had.

I was really anxious to see World Showcase, so we headed over there. We went on the boat ride in Mexico and then we went on the boat ride in Norway (sorry, don’t remember the names). When we walked into the gift shop in Norway I smelled the most beautiful scent! DD13 and I sprayed it on ourselves from the sample bottle. Everyone kept walking ahead, so I couldn’t stop long enough to check the price of the perfume. We walked over to China where the girls met Mulan. The scent of that perfume kept calling me, so DD13, DDF and I walked back over and I bought the Laila perfume. I absolutely love it! Happy Birthday to Me! I had it shipped back to the resort, so when I walked back over to DH, he saw my empty hands and asked how much it cost. When I told him the price, he said, “I was going to go back & buy it for you for your birthday, but that’s expensive.” I replied back “Thanks, you just did. It’s being sent to the resort.” They all laughed. They know me too well. If I really want something I will buy it.

I would have loved to have had more time in World Showcase. We didn’t see too much & I didn’t get to try out any of the foods from the Food & Wine Festival, except for the cannoli in Italy. The girls were bored, DH didn’t like EPCOT and we had PS for LeCellier.

The girls wanted to go back on TT so we headed back over there after our dinner. On our way over there DH and I were walking back behind everyone else. DSis had DD5 by the hand. I saw this lady come barreling up behind them with 2 or 3 kids next to her and pushing a double stroller. I swear she was thisclose to running DD5 over. I was furious! I told DH that if she would’ve ran into her, I would’ve smacked the lady. I had my fill by Thursday of rude people. I loved Disney, but I have never seen so many rude and selfish people in my entire life. By the end of the week I got really tired of holding doors open for people who cannot even say a simple “Thank you”. It’s pretty pathetic when I listened to both my girls, yes, even my 5 year old say “please”, “thank you”, and “excuse me” and grown adults don’t even use their manners. I was disgusted, to say the least, by a lot of the behavior I saw from grown adults. People cut in front of you everywhere you go. Sure they’re in a hurry, but so is everyone else. DD13 even started pointing out the rude people. We saw alot of people get “stroller slammed”, which I imagine is an unspoken way of telling people to get out of their way. You people know who you are. You don’t need to learn manners, you need to USE THEM!! We were pushing a stroller all week, too. Have some common courtesy for others. Wait your turn in line just like everyone else, instead of cutting in front and geez, it’s really not that hard to say “Thank you” when someone is nice enough to hold the door open for you. By the end of the week, I really wanted to start letting the doors slam, but I knew that with my luck, the person I would slam the door in their face, would’ve been one of the very few that would’ve said those two nice words. Maybe I’m different, but I’m trying to raise my children with respect for other people and how can you do that when you have so many people like that in this world?

Sorry, got off track. When I get fired up I tend to go on and on and that was bothering me all week. Needed to get it off my chest. Anyway, after we went on TT, the girls wanted to go back on MS. DD13, DDF and I went on while the others took a break. DD5 was big enough to get on, but I knew she wouldn’t stare straight ahead, so I didn’t let her try it. There was absolutely no wait. The sign for standby read “0”. Wow. We went on 3 times in a row. The 2nd time we went on a younger boy and girl were waiting to go on together. When we all got to the end, the girl backed out & left, so we invited the boy to ride with us so he wouldn’t have to go on alone. He had never ridden before. He said he liked it when it was over, but he looked a little green. The last time we went on a man from Peru rode with us...first time...he liked it. It’s very interesting to meet people from all over the world. We closed the ride...by the time we got off the 3rd time the park was closing and Illuminations had begun. We chose to leave the park ahead of the mad rush, so we totally missed Illuminations.
When we got back to the room, there were balloons and cookies waiting in the room for my birthday from DSis. I didn’t expect that...it was a nice surprise. She told me that when she bought them, the CM told her that when they know it’s someone’s birthday, they usually give out balloons. However, she told DSis that during the hurricanes they gave out all their balloons to their guests, so they depleted their reserves. Even the companies that they get them from are having a hard time supplying them and they have to supply to the parks first before the resorts. So my sister had to hunt some balloons down...don’t know how she did it, but she found some. I just thought I’d mention that in case anyone celebrating your child’s birthday doesn’t get balloons...don’t be disappointed. According to the CM, they’re trying their best to get more.

We had a really nice day. Wow, I can’t believe there’s only one more day left of our vacation.

Where do you get the birthday pin? My daughter is 6 on Sunday, we'll be there Wednesday-do you think that is too far from her bday to do anything?

Happy Belated Birthday!

Great report so far!!

Thank you!

720L, We got the birthday pins at City Hall on Main Street in Magic Kingdom. I realize some people might disagree with me on this, but the answer to your question about celebrating your daughter's birthday...if you want to celebrate her birthday while you're on vacation & it's only a few days before or after her birthday, I say go for it. It'll make her trip more special.
