Well this is my first dining review so I hope I can live up to everyone's expectations. I really wanted to do a dining review because I loved reading everyone else's! We booked our free dining trip about four months prior to departure so I had lots of time to read and salivate over everyone's reviews before I booked. Even after I booked, I still read and looked at pics so I could really validate my choices!!! I ended up adding a few which was really great!

Here is the cast:
Me - 30 years old, 6th Disney Trip, fourth with DH and 2nd with DD. I LOVE basically ALL food and I was about 17 weeks pregnant so I had to make up for not riding TOT and Everest by eating lots of food!!!! My favorites are beef, seafood and anything chocolate.

DH - 29 years old. This is his 5th trip. He is a BIG eater but way to skinny if you ask me. Not sure where it all goes! Anyways, his favorite foods are beef, pizza and asian. He is not a big dessert eater so more for me!

DD - 2.5 years old. She is not the best eater, never has been. She wasn't on the dining plan and was fine eating off our plates. She'll eat chicken (especially breaded), mashed potatoes and anything sweet. Oh and she drinks LOTS of chocolate milk, which suits Disney world just fine!

Here is a pic of us at Le Cellier:

So we were headed to Disney World for 6 days, 7 nights from Sept 8-14. We would have booked 7 nights but the flights didn't work out. We were going for free dining (ofcourse!) we did it last year and absolutely loved it. We only did one of the same restaurants (Crystal palace) so everything else was brand new to us. We also did MNSSHP on Sept 11th and had a blast.

We stayed at the Wilderness lodge and LOVED it. The boat ride to MK makes it all worth it. We had a courtyard view which was nice, 6th floor.

Here is what I will be reviewing:

Table service:
Whispering Canyon
Chef Mickey's
Sci Fi
Cinderella's Royal Table
Ohanas
Crystal Palace
Le Cellier

Counter Service:
Wolfgang Pucks
Roaring Forks
Yak and Yeti

Snacks:
Aloha Isle
Casey's
Goofy's
Norway

I really hope you enjoy my review. I have to say that it felt really strange to take pictures of my food at first but I got used to it...DH on the other hand wasn't a big fan, only because I was delaying him from eating!!!!:rotfl:

So looking forward to your reviews! We leave in about a week, I am also 17 weeks pregnant and we are eating at a lot of the same restaurants!

So we arrived at our hotel around 2pm. We were pretty hungry because we had only eaten breakfast and snacks on the airplane/airport but our ADR for WC was at 5:10. So we decided to split a quick service at Roarking Forks. The resort was pretty dead when we got there so we were served very quickly. There aren't that many options (compared to value resorts) but the flatbread pizza peaked DH's curiosity. He loves his pizza...but who doesn't???:rotfl: So we ordered the pepperoni and cheese flatbread, chocolate milk and a GIANT brownie! This thing was massive and it was not our last one of the trip.:rolleyes1 Here is the pic:
Flatbread-Roaringforks.jpg
[/IMG]

Dh ate most of the pizza since I ofcourse, only wanted the chocolate! But he gives it a 4/5. I give the brownie a 5/5. It was soooooooo moist, very rich and very filling. We almost couldn't finish it but we did...I mean, I did!!!

After our "lunch", we waited for our bags, then went swimming and back up to the room to get ready for dinner.

Whispering Canyon 5:10. I had heard ok things about Whispering Canyon. The main reason I chose it was because it is located in our resort! I also knew that my DH would really like the skillet because of all of the meat. So ofcourse, that is what he got!!!! All you can eat Canyon Skillet: Smoked Pork Ribs, Pulled Pork, Oven-roasted Chicken, Beef Brisket, Mashed Potatoes, Cowboy Beans, and Corn on the Cob Mixed Greens Salad with Apple Vinaigrette, Coleslaw, and Fresh-baked Cornbread

Skillet-WhisperingCanyon.jpg

He was so full after that he didn't even get to have more! The waiter was so schocked when DH told him that he didn't want anymore meat. Anyways, he said the best was the beef brisket and the ribs. He also ordered a vanilla milkshake and really liked it. I ate most of his salad (really really good), beans and half the cornbrean. Those were both excellent.

I was not in the mood for meat...don't ask why, I guess the baby wasn't feeling it that day! So I took a chance and ordered the trout. Whiskey Maple-Glazed Trout - Served with an arugula-frisee salad.

Trout-Whisperingcanyon.jpg
[/IMG]

I was pleasantly surprised. The taste was very nice, there was even a little kick...probably the whiskey!:rolleyes1 The arugula salad was really good. I am pretty sure they used the same vinagrette as DH's salad but that was fine by me because I really enjoyed it.

For dessert, DH ordered the chocolate cake. We brought it back to the room for the fridge, but sadly we never got to eat it.:sad1: Looks nice though!
Choccake-WC.jpg
[/IMG]

I ordered the Bourbon pecan pie. I don't really like desserts with alcohol in them but I really like pecan pie so I guess that is why I ordered it!
Pecanpie-WC.jpg
[/IMG]

I ate maybe a quarter of it. The bourbon taste is very strong, so if that is your thing, i am sure you will love this dessert!

So overall, DH gives WC a B grade and I give it a B-. We both thought the food was ok and the service was good but it was REALLY loud. We used two TS credits and the total was $74.28, without tip.

The restaurant is known for it's tricks/games/antics. Our waiter didn't play this with us. Not sure if it was the toddler with us or not but he was actually really nice. He just called me momma and served us wonderfully. His name was Gino Casino. We had breakfast booked here for our last day but we cancelled because it didn't really appeal to us and we really ran out of credits! haha We don't think we will return, except if we stay at WL again.

Next up: Yak and Yeti and Chef Mickey's.:flower3:

So looking forward to your reviews! We leave in about a week, I am also 17 weeks pregnant and we are eating at a lot of the same restaurants!

That's great, congratulations! There really is so much choice that pregnant ladies would never go hungry!!!!:rotfl: Have a great trip!

I was just in WDW September 1-7 right around the same time as you! I'm looking forward to reading your review it seems like we like a lot of the same places :)

We hit Yak & Yeti CS on this past visit for the first time and really liked the food. And of course Aloha Isle and the Dole Whips are always a must do for us! The Wilderness Lodge is one of my all time favorites.. glad you guys liked it too! BTW, the picture of your family is so cute :)

great start. looking forward to more. especially sci fi - going 3 weeks from today! (to sci fi)

Signing on to read more! :goodvibes

I will be 19 weeks tomorrow and will be 27-28 weeks when we go to WDW over Thanksgiving. I plan on doing a lot of sitting and eating too, I'm afraid! :rotfl2:

I look at it this way, I will certainly have the time to get a Dole Whip this year!

I look forward to reading your report!

Thanks! Wasn't it a great time to go? It did rain a few days but the wait times were really fast, faster than last year. Dole whips are my fave...had to indulge a few times and it's one of the best snack credits you can geet. And WL was great! It is very similar to AKL, we are so spoiled with deluxe, we'll probably never go back to value or mod!

Looking forward to more great reviews! :santa:

Thanks...more coming up ...

Sci-fi was great. We went for dinner but I heard lunch is also great.

Congrats! Thanksgiving would be an awesome time to go. I hope you have some good ADRs! :)

We had a late night the night before but DD was in no mood to sleep in! So we got ready and headed down to Roaring Forks for Breakfast. DH wanted the Bounty breakfast (eggs, bacon, pancakes, potatos and a biscuit). I had the breakfast croissant. They were both ok...just the regular quick service resort breakfast. DH thought the bacon had a really bizarre taste and the cheese on my sandwich was processed (not a surprise) but it didn't give it a great taste. Sorry no pictures...I was bad at taking breakfast pics.

We headed to Animal Kingdom this day. After a disastrous showing of Bug's life (DD screamed when the mean grasshopper came out), we toured some more. Took the train to Planet Watch. DD really enjoyed that. But she fell asleep on the Safari for the second time in a row!!!!!! I think it has to do with the heat. I swear it is 5 or 10 degrees hotter in AK!!!! Anyways, I was starving but DH wasn't. He had snacked on some fruit before the safari. But we decided to try Yak and Yeti. Originally, I wanted to go to Flametree (love that place) but we were too far...well too far to keep a pregnant lady from eating! Anyways, everything appealed to me but I wanted noodles since I was craving carbs...what pregnant woman doesn't??:rotfl: So I ordered the shrimp lo mein, with a diet coke and a chocolate chip cookie.
shrimpchomein-yy.jpg
[/IMG]

It wasn't bad. I would have liked it to be more flavorful. There were a lot of veggies though and they were very fresh and crisp. I give it a 3.5/5. The people next to us were eating the chicken and pork and that looked really good so I would go there again and try something different.

We saw someone else order the spring rolls and since they were one snack credit, DH couldn't resist.

porcspringrolls-yy.jpg
[/IMG]

DH really liked these. They were piping hot, crisp outside and soft inside. He would definitely get these again. Good value for a snack credit. We give them a 4/5.

Overall, it was good. We couldn't find any seat under an umbrella so we ate in the blasting sun. My cookie melted in its bag...but it was still good.

After lunch we headed back to the room. We couldn't make it to Nemo and Dh tried to ride Dinosaur but it was broken. DD was still napping so it was a great time to head back for a swim and more food! That was the only day we went to AK. I couldn't ride Everst, my FAVE ride so there was no use in coming back.

Since DH didn't have a real meal and our ADR for dinner was only at 6:00, he wanted some food! We decided on the chicken nuggets and fries basket from Roarking Forks.

chickennuggets-roaringforks.jpg
[/IMG]

Now it comes with 8 nuggets but DH must have been so hungry he ate a few before I could snap the picture. Anyways, it was very good. Nice crispy chicken and fries. I also LOVE the bbq sauce in disney so that helps! DD loved these too which was good since she hadn't eated at AK. We give this a 4.5/5. This came with a drink (I think we got juice) and we chose the magic cookie bar for dessert.

magiccookiebar-roaringfork.jpg
[/IMG]

OGM this was good! You can probably tell how huge and thick it was. I barely ate half so I stuck the other half in the fridge and snacked on it all week! I give this a 5/5.

A few hours later, we were ready to head to our ADR at Chef Mickey's!!!! I tried to get into CM last year and had no luck, not even after the released a special lunch. Anyways, we were all looking forward to it. The characters were Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Pluto. Here is one of my fave pics:

kissingmickey-1.jpg

We must have arrived at a good time because we saw all of the characters in the first 20 minutes we were there!! DD just LOVED it! They were really good with her too...something that didn't happen everywhere. As you can see, she wore a special Minnie mouse dress that I had made from someone on Etsy dot com. She got so many compliments and when Minnie came around, she pointed at her dress and her special minnie hair clip so it was really cute.

Here is another cute pic:
PlutoandOlivia.jpg

Ok on with the food! The buffet is laid out well. The salad bar has lots of choice. I remember the potato salad was AWESOME! We also really liked the bread selection. Sorry no pics!

Dh went right for the real food. Here is one of his plates:
Nickplate-chefmickey.jpg

Clockwise starting from top: Turkey (very good), parmesan mashed potatoes (AMAZING!), chicken (OK), rice (OK), beef bourgignon (Really good!!) and pizza (DH liked it and I hated it).

here is my plate:
julieplate-chefmickey.jpg

Starting with pizza (like I said, I hated it. Crust was tasteless and it was cold), Mickey ravioli (nothing to talk about it. Pretty tasteless as well), Beef Bourgignon and mashed potatoes (LOVED THEM and took another plate of just this after!), roast beef (this was good).

And finally for dessert:

dessert-chefmickey.jpg

Key lime pie, mickey dome and icecream. Key lime pie was really good, I could have eaten a few more of these. Dome was ok and the icecream was...icecream. i do love the icecream bar though. Lots of toppings and fun for kids!

Overall, I gave it a B+ because of the character interaction but I wouldn't go back just for the food. I would probably try breakfast. DH gave it a B and I don't think he would choose to go back unless I made him!!!! It cost is 2 TS credits plus $10 tip but would have cost $63.98 plus tip.

Next up: Wolfgang Puck Express and Sci Fi!!

Congratulations! :cloud9: Loving the reviews so far! Definitely going to try those spring rolls for a snack credit!

Love your review. I like the Egg rolls at Yak and Yeti too. Your daughter is so adorable and love that dress. can't wait to read more popcorn::

Thanks for all the great comments everyone! Without further a do, here is what we ate on Day 3.

We decided to go to Downtown Disney in the a.m. and it was a tough decision on where to eat lunch. We LOVED Earl of sandwich last year and DH really wanted to go back but I was able to convince him to atleast look at the menu for WGP and I guess a few things caught his eye so he agreed! Both places were empty so that was good too!

DH relied a lot on what I had read on these boards about different meals so I told him to get the half roasted chicken with mashed potatoes.

chicken-wgp.jpg

Now my DH has a big appetite but he couldn't even finish this! He really enjoyed it. The chicken was very tasty and juicy and the potatos were nice and garlickly. He gives this an A grade.

I quickly looked at the menu and knew that the pizzas were really good here so I ordered the sausage and red pepper pizza.
pizza-wgp.jpg

This was GREAT! You might not be able to tell but it is HUGE! It took up a whole big dinner plate. The crust was nice and thin, which I really like. It didn't have tomato sauce but olive oil with spices instead. There was tons of cheese and all of the ingredients were fresh. I ate half of it and asked for a takeout box to bring it back home. I reheated it in the microwave at WL and ate it that night as a snack. It was still good reheated too! I give this an A+. The service was really great and the restaurant was nice and clean. We would definitly go back here and I would probably get the pizza again. There are tons of things on the menu though. Oh we also go drinks and desserts but I forgot to take pics or write them down!

Once we walked around DTD, spent WAY too much money on gifts, we decided to stop in Goofy's candy shop. Now I have been to DTD several times and I had NEVER been there before. No idea why but I really wanted to go this time. DH was actually excited to get the pretzel rods so he headed to that section right away. He got three pretzel rods. All dipped in milk chocolate, drizzled with peanut better cup pieces, oreo cookie crumble, and chopped peanuts, then all drizzled with white chocolate. He LOVED the peanut butter one the best, I didn't even get one bite!

pretzelrods-goofys.jpg

I had no idea what I wanted so I opted for a HUGE peanut butter cookie, a HUGE peanut butter cup and some suckers for DD. I ate half of the cookie and it was great. DH ate the PB cup and said it was just ok. After seeing the pretzel rods, I wish I would have got my own so I am saving that for next time!

After a succesful morning at DTD, we headed back to our room for a really quick nap and then off to Sci Fi for a 4:15 ADR. This was the only time I didn't like because it was too early. Even worse, we couldn't do much because all of the fast passes were given out that day for Toy Story mania, DD freaked out at Little Mermaid, we missed the last show of Playhouse Disney and I couldn't ride my favorite rides ToT and RR. Oh well, atleast there was food to be eaten!

I was a little nervous going here because of the "scary" movie on the big screen. Now that I have gone, I laugh because it wasn't scary at all! And actually, this was the meal that DD was the best behaved at! She was so enthralled by the big screen that she pretty much just sat there, ate her food and watched the flicks!

Anyways, to start off I had a strawberry milkshake. It was very very thick! There weren't fresh strawberries or anything but it was still good.
strawberrymilkshake-scifi.jpg

For my meal, I got the reuben. I couldn't make up my mind, not really sure why. But I was very happy with my decision. There was tons of meat and tons of cheese. The fries were crisy. I ate a little more than half, this thing was pretty big!
reuben-scifi.jpg

DH decided to order the butcher steak with potatos and veggies.
steak-scifi.jpg

The steak was very good. It was cooked really well and it wasn't very fatty. The potatos and veggies were also good and there was lots of them.

For dessert, I ordered the chocolate peanut butter cake. I had heard great things about this and I know people are big fans of it. But I was a little disappointed. I expected the peanut butter to come oozing out of the cake and it didn't. It was pretty much just a blob of peanut butter in the middle of chocolate cake.
chocpbcake-scifi.jpg

DH order the fruit cup to go but I forgot to take a picture. It was very fresh fruit, strawberries, canteloup, pineapple and grapes.

We used two TS credits for this meal but it would have cost us $59.16. We both would go back to Sci Fi and we probably will but ty lunch next time as I have heard awesome things about the burgers!!!

That evening we went to see Fantasmic, which was awesome! But we got there about 45 minutes before and had standing room only...NOT fun! Afterwards we needed a snack (because dinner as so early). We split a frozen lemonade and a pretzel. Both were good but the pretzel was soooooo salty. And I guess that is to be expected but I had to take off most of the salt...sorry no pic.

Up next: Our much anticipated dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table!!!!

Oh I am loving your reviews. The big brownie and magic cookie bar -- YUM -- they looked good enough to lick off the screen of my computer!

Your DD is adorable - thanks for including the pics of her at CM -- I loved her little outfit! :thumbsup2

It sounds like you had a great time ... maybe minus the screaming at the grasshopper .... (I think about screaming at the giant spider but I hold it in but even so, I understand!)

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 for your reviews so far. (And agree with you and others - the egg rolls at Y&Y CS are great!)

Just booked Sci Fi for our December trip for the burgers but man that Rueben looks good! May have to talk DH into sharing halves! :rolleyes1
