A Pre Thanksgiving/Christmas Vacation, Our First Split Stay & Our 5th Trip to Disney!

Hi Shelly,
How are you? How great you will be going back to wdw. lucky you. No trip planned for us. I am back to teachinh pre-school full time, so have not been dising. READY FOR SNOW?:rotfl:

Hey Pam! :yay: Long time no "see"! Glad you are back.

No, I am NOT ready for snow! Actually we already had some here. One morning about a week and a half ago. Nothing major and it melted off by none, but still, snow in October?! Have you had any yet?

So glad you have joined my PTR! :goodvibes

Okay, so small trip crisis this morning. . . There is a thread from someone who just got back from POR and said that the pool slide was closed the entire time they were there. No one ever notified them of this ahead of time or even when they checked in. When they realized this a few days into their stay they approached a manager to ask why they were not notified of this (like other resorts do) and the manager I guess was not very nice about it and told her that since POR and POFQ are connected they won't need to notify anyone of the rehabs since they are free to use both pools anyway.

So I know to some people a pool slide is very trivial and not a very big part of their vacation. But for other people, like us, it is very important. The kids don't get to swim much. We don't have a pool and it is not swimming weather most of the year here anyway. So of course I started to freak out a bit!! DS10 LOVES a pool slide. Sometimes more than the parks!! That is one of the main reasons we have not tried a value resort. So while this certainly wouldn't have ruined his vacation, he would have been disappointed. And who wants to spend that kind of money to see their children disappointed?

So while everyone is arguing and criticizing the OP for even posting her disappointment :sad2: I decided to call POR and just ask. I got a very nice CM who told me that the POR slide refurb dates are Oct 19 - Nov 7. How lucky is that? :yay: Hopefully they will stay right on schedule with their rehab and open right on time for us!! :wizard: The CM did suggest that I call back next week and check the dates again. So I am still a little nervous. DS10 wasn't that impressed with the POFQ slide 2 years ago, so I know it will not be too fun for him now. Plus who wants to walk 15-20 minutes back to their room after swimming? :scared1:

I read that thread too. Hopefully, the pool slide will be open by the time you get there. Fingers, toes and even eyes crossed that it will be!

Wow that was a close call!! pixiedust: Pixiedust for you that they stay on schedule!!

I completely understand how DS would be disappointed - mine would be too!!

I can't believe Disney isn't putting this info out there.

Here I am, here I am.:goodvibes

Now--- let's see.

What can we dish about??????

The big BEHINDS breaking all the slides??
The Woo-Pig-Flooie going around??
The option of cleaning the room from top to floor and requesting a special cleaning so you don't have the real Pixie Dust like I had at CBR??? ewwwww. Remeber those pics????
The question of whether or not you'll be getting mugs this trip? You wouldn't dare bring your old ones, would you???? :scared1:

Or...........maybe I'll just step aside and let you talk for a second.:lmao:

Jo:banana:

Jo:banana:

Where ya been???

Big BEHINDS breaking the slides - is that why all the refurbs? :lmao:

Swine flu. :sad2: My hands are so dry from washing them and cleaning the house so much. All we can do is hope for the best at this point!

I think I will do the room cleaning when we get there. Seen way too much "pixie dust" in the WDW rooms to last me a while! :rotfl: Although I can clean the dust easy enough, it's those lurking flu germs I am worried about. I think the housekeepers are in such a hurry they just do the basics and the rooms never really get a good old fashioned cleaning.

Nope, no mugs for us. Never got them. :confused3

Hmm. . . what else can we talk about? DH has been talking a lot about all the free food we are going to be eating!! :rotfl: The kids keep talking about how they are going to ride the HM. . . We'll see!

Well here's a story for ya.....:lmao:

The first night of the trip to Mississippi- we got to the hotel late Thursday noght and the kids got right into bed. So I'm getting everything straight- we got a 2 bedroom suite- always do- and I went into our bathroom and there was blood all over the side of the toilet.:scared1:

I'm freaking out- clal Mark in to inspect it and he says to not touch anything.

And you know how big of a germaphobe I am.

I imagined bedbugs all over me all night long.

So I get up the next day and take a shower and afterwards, I'm drying my hair and look down at the door jamb leading into the shower area./

Lo and behold, there is blood-- tons of it--- all down the door jamb. Like someone had been massacared in there.

Oh my gosh it was disgusting and revolting and I thought I was going to puke.

Mark complained.

Who knows what all we were contaminated with.

Wanna come over for dinner?????????

GROSS!!!:scared1:

Sounds like our room in Harrisburg this summer. :sad2: There was orangish-brown "stuff" all over the bathroom door frame. And black mold and spiders all over the balcony. I took pictures. Sent it to the hotel. Got a few extra reward points towards my next stay. Yeah, like I really want to stay with that hotel chain again.

*shudder* I don't know if I could have stayed in the room after I saw all that blood. Gives me the heebee geebees.

Awww sweetie, I'm sorry to hear about the slide issues and I hope they stick to the schedule and it's sorted for your dates :wizard: :wizard:

I am good. No snow here yet. I seemed to resort tot he DIS int he winter.:thumbsup2 Summer I am out and about in the yard, games etc.
I soak up the sun as much as possible, before the dreaded winter comes.
I heard the upper part of the state got some snow, from my friend.

I so understand the slide issue, you pick the resort based on the pool not the room!:lmao: I thought POFQ pool was nicer, and much warmer in Jan. You can get right on the boat at the dock and go over to POFQ, or walk.
The gift shop is better at POR.

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: 10 DAYS!!!! :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

~And you are all officially invited to my Single Digit Party tomorrow. Right here. Same time. Same place. See you then!! :rotfl:

Exactly. You pay for a resort with a pool slide, you should get a resort with a pool slide! We can't wait to try the POR pool, gift shop, and most of all the food court!

Congrats on 10 Days!

In honor of that why don't you do a top ten list.

What are your top 10 things to do at WDW this year?

Or some other similiar top ten list!!!
