A Pre Thanksgiving/Christmas Vacation, Our First Split Stay & Our 5th Trip to Disney!

Shelly - love your lists!
Especially the Tastefully Simple one!
I just made some beer bread last night and I've been invited to two parties in the next two weeks! DH told me to get more!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Have fun at your TS parties!

I FINALLY got my flu shot today. It was my fourth attempt. Everywhere has been out or they wouldn't take my insurance (Target didn't have a contract with them - can you believe?) My poor kids haven't gotten it yet either. Of course they want the mist. I got mine at work today.
I love the idea of giving out sanitizer at Halloween! What a hoot!

I hope you are able to get your kids their flu shot/mist soon!
I don't know which list makes me drool more- the yummies you get to make for the TS party or the Must Do's for the trip! Both are equally drool-worthy!

I know! :rotfl:
Good luck not eating all the goodies you make before the guests arrive! :lmao:

I'll try to control myself!

I think your boys would like Tom Sawyer Island. I just posted an installment on my trip report with a few pictures. My camera went on the blink that day so I don't have a whole lot.

Let's see if I can explain how to get to the raft dock to Tom Sawyer Island. Stand in front of Country Bear Jamboree and have Splash Mountain in front of you. Straight in front of you, you'll see the wooden walkway. Take the wooden walkway like you were going towards Big Thunder Mountain. Just before you'd go up the walkway to BTM, you'll see a wooden building to your right. That's the raft dock. You'll take the raft over to the island.

Once you get to the island, you'll go to your left and up a hill. Take the first path to your left and continue left. It will take you to a fort. The fort has several buildings. You can see parts of Big Thunder Mountain from inside and there are all sorts of guns the boys can shoot. Also on the island, is a barrel bridge to cross, a windmill, a small playground and caves to explore. It's a nice place to get away from the crowds.

Wow that does sound like something the kids would enjoy. I guess it's one of those things that you just don't hear much about. Kind of like OKW. :rotfl: Does it take up a lot of time? I think I know right where you are talking about as far as where the raft dock might be, although I can't say that I've ever seen a raft in all my times there. . . :confused3 Guess I haven't been paying very good attention!

We spent about an hour on the island. You could spend more or you could spend less.

Yeah, we usually only do about 3-4 hours at AK. We just aren't into it that much. :confused3 But there are a few things that I don't want to miss - EE and Dinosaur!!

**DRAKES ~ This is your friendly reminder that you need to make your ADR's this weekend!**

I don't want you to forget anything or have any bad Disney dreams! :rotfl:

Just got some of my stuff ready for the party tomorrow.

So far I've made the:

Bruschetta Cheese Ball
Cheesy Chive Warm Dip
Key Lime Cheese Ball
Onion Onion Dip
Roasted Garlic & Herb Dip
Spinach & Herb Dip

They all smell so good. Well except for the Onion Onion Dip  YUCK!!

I will make the Beer Bread and Nana's Apple Cake later. . . And the Perfectly Potato Cheddar Soup right before the party starts.

The consultant is also bringing Cheese It Up Chips, Oh MY Chai, Pomegranate Chipolte Sauce, Rhubarb Strawberry Fruit Spread, Seasoned Salt, Sesame Teriyaki Stir-Fry Sauce, Twisty Grahams, Vidalia Onion Dressing, and Warm Up Mulling Spice to try.

We should all be stuffed by the time it's over!

What time should I be to your house tomorrow! :lmao: YUM!!!! I want to host one now just to eat all day!

Hey Shelly!! Just found your trip report!! yay for you that you are going so soon..but we miss you on the january board...I saw your plans and if I was you, I'd skip nemo the musical..we did it once. It is soooo long and really boring. Our whole family took a snooze;)

**DRAKES ~ This is your friendly reminder that you need to make your ADR's this weekend!**

I don't want you to forget anything or have any bad Disney dreams! :rotfl:

Thank you ! :lmao:I had a bad disney dream last night that I forgot!!!:scared1:
You all must think I have a terrible memory!
My ADR plan is set, so I hope i get what I want. In the past we have always booked our ADRs in order, this time round I am doing top picks first, so I will be all over the place! But I have positive vibes it will all work out and I will get what I want, and if not I can pick a back up ! I hope online ressies work for me, because I like that they give you alternates!

Don't skip AK. Yes there is fewer attractions, but the biggest attraction is the ones with no lines, the trails and animal viewing areas!
Our first trip we spent the day in AK from open to close and we did not even see Asia :confused3. Now we don't even do the big ticket rides and I find we are still slowed down. I am a sucker for the Character greetings, I always want my picture with Mickey dressed in different outfits, with a nice background ( not the buffet table, or the family's half eaten dinner) , so once we get to Mickey I then give in and greet with them all

We loved the Nemo show, it is long, approx 30 minutes, but it is very well done. We are Nemo fans as well as musical theatre fans, so it was great for us. After I bought the soundtrack and we listen to it in the car all the time...

YAY ~ Finally some action in here today!! I was beginning to think I was going to have to talk to myself for the next 15 days. :rotfl:

What time should I be to your house tomorrow! :lmao: YUM!!!! I want to host one now just to eat all day!

1:00 sharp! :thumbsup2 Which means you'll only have to leave your place around 8:00AM, that's not too bad!! :rotfl:

What? No Pizza planet???? :lmao:

 NO, no Pizza Planet this trip!

I am really excited about One Man's Dream. The rest of the family will probably think it is boring, but I know I will find it quite interesting.

Welcome to my PTR Andrea! :goodvibes

I miss the January planners too. :sad1: We had so much fun planning together last year. I still lurk from time to time. BTW - Love all your Hawaii pics! :cloud9: Someday DH and I will get there. Someday. Probably when the kids are all grown up!

I am still undecided on the Nemo Musical. I am sure the kids will get bored if it is very long. We'll just have to see how the day is going I guess. :confused3

I know I forget half my crazy Disney dreams. That's probably a good thing. :lmao:

I hope you get everything you want for your ADR's. :wizard: Be sure to let us know. I just love doing the online ADR's!

I think the only way we would skip AK would be if we were taking a shorter trip. I really do enjoy EE and Dinosaur! I'm not as crazy about the Safari as most, but it's good for about every other trip for us. We have never done the animal trails/viewing. :confused3 I'm not that into it and the kids have never asked. The kids aren't much for patience, so we don't wait in too many character lines. That's why we do the character meals! We will just have to see about the Nemo show. . . 30 minutes isn't too bad. We did the Festival of the Lion King last time and we all really enjoyed it. Maybe I'll give them the choice of either seeing the FOTLK again or seeing Nemo. There's no way they will want to sit through both.

We usually do AK from opening until about 12 or 1. We are going to take a different approach this time and go around 11 or so and stay until after the parade. Hopefully it won't be too hot that afternoon. I have found that AK gets a little smelly in the heat.

I'm hoping to go shopping sometime this weekend. I need to find a 16x20 oak frame for my hallway - aka - "wall of Disney". . . Each trip has a photo collage in the hallway. I even left a space for this upcoming trip on the wall when we move into this house in July. Before the trip was even for sure!

The craft store where I have gotten the last 3 frames doesn't sell that particular one anymore. I am just having the worst luck. Same thing with the photo album I usually use. :upsidedow

So I just thought I'd share my Wall of Disney with you~

Well, I'm up to my eyeballs in suitcases, summer clothes, Disney pins, and tiny toiletries!!! :rotfl:

I decided I should hit the packing pretty hard this week since the next 2 weeks are going to be crazy busy.

Here's the mess I am currently contending with!

Fall2009006-5.jpg

Shelly, I just caught up some more on your TR - 50 pages!!! I love this picture - except it makes me very jealous. (OK, that's green as in jealous, not that you make me sick LOL) I see you have your antibacterial wipes ready to go! I wouldn't worry about the weather too much. I just can't imagine it would be that hot in November.

You have probably already mentioned this, but have you requested any particular area or building At POR or OKW? And are you bringing anything special for your toiletries, since POR doesn't have the storage space that CBR does?

Now, sorry to sound dumb, but what exactly is a Tastefully Simple party? I know I would love to be there, because the food sounds yummy! Is it a demonstration and sale of cooking supplies? I hope it's a big success. :thumbsup2

Morning Shelley,
I love your wall of Disney. We have one too but my frames are empty :scared1:... yep behind on my scrapbooking and my photo frames! I thought if I hung them it would get me in gear to get the photos printed - that is the problem with dgital photos, before with film you had to get your photos printed! :rotfl:

Hope you get some more packing and organizing done this weekend! Before you know it you'll be in WDW:woohoo:

Joanne
