A Pre Thanksgiving/Christmas Vacation, Our First Split Stay & Our 5th Trip to Disney!

H1N1- Yup add me to the list of the scared. I've gone through more Purell since last month than I'd like to admit. I sanitize carts and we've been drinking OJ and taking our vitamins and my kids hate it but they aren't allowed to play in the playgorund at ChikFilA. I can't shelter us any more than I have been. :confused3
DS got the flumist for regular flu and was sick immediately after it. No one around here has the H1N1 vaccine. Our ped doesn't have either vaccine.

No & Yes... I'm not ready for my ADRs yet - I need to post an update today... and YES - I'm freaking out about H1N1.

I'm VERY reluctant to have the kids vaccinated - if it were even available... because of the whole autism thing. It's not that I definitely think vaccines caused Alex's autism and Zach's delays, but I feel as though they have more sensitive sysytems - which of course is a double edged sword - they could be more prone to vaccine side effects but they could also be more at risk for H1N1 complications. I don't know... :confused3 But yes - the whole thing is freaking me out.

And now I guess I have to take sanitizing wipes to all the packages of candy they get on trick or treat! :rolleyes1
If I can get it, I will only get my kids the thimerosol free mist version. The shot has mercury. I know the powerheads claim that there is no link to autism but I'm sorry with the stats, I don't have complete faith that there isn't a connection. :sad2:
I just called Disney to confirm our ADR's. I normally call about the week before, but thought I'd just do it now. I made several over the phone, several online, and cancelled several, so I wanted to make sure everything was correct!

Looks like all is good! :thumbsup2

Has everyone heard about the new Sum of all Thrills at Innoventions at Epcot?
http://land.allears.net/blogs/dnews/2009/10/new_exhibit_at_innoventions_at.html

It looks pretty neat!

I really need to sit down with the kids and make our must-do lists for each park. I was just going to wing it, but I am afraid we will forget something like this.
Ooooh that does look neat!!!! :goodvibes

OH...I forgot about the weather underground...I check that for hurricanes too! The flu has been pretty rampant around here right after school started....the Dr. said yesterday that it does seem to be on the wane now. We had it so bad in certain areas, that during Sept several schools just shut down for a few days...so...hopefully everybody has been exposed or gotten it by now-for our area anyway....

Speaking of swine flu, a good friend of mine works for Expedia. Either the whole company or just his group is having a faux flu day tomorrow where folks are supposed to stay and work from home to test the preparedness of the company for a flu epidemic. I have to admit, that gave me a little chuckle when I read his tweet about that.

Shelly, my DH has a bachelor's and a master's degree in meteorology, and he would probably agree with you!

:lmao: Great idea!

I feel bad for the weather people..if they miss it, boy do they take the heat! Our weather guys here are pretty phenomenal...they usually nail it---but for the last couple of months they were way off...getting back on track...not sure what happened there for a while?

What's everybody up to today?

Just enjoying another day of nice weather today before it turns cold again. Cleaning away here. My Tastefully Simple Party is Saturday. Cleaning almost everything today, I will prepare the stuff tomorrow, and do the floors Saturday morning.

We haven't. What's it like? I don't think I even know how to get there :confused3. . . .

Thanks! :goodvibes We are getting VERY excited!!! :yay: DS10 especially! He has been talking about it non-stop lately and keeps telling me he can't wait!

I know, just think how hungry it will make me tomorrow when I have to make all that stuff but can't even eat any of it until Saturday! :rotfl:

Shelly - love your lists!
Especially the Tastefully Simple one!
I just made some beer bread last night and I've been invited to two parties in the next two weeks! DH told me to get more!!

I FINALLY got my flu shot today. It was my fourth attempt. Everywhere has been out or they wouldn't take my insurance (Target didn't have a contract with them - can you believe?) My poor kids haven't gotten it yet either. Of course they want the mist. I got mine at work today.
I love the idea of giving out sanitizer at Halloween! What a hoot!

I don't know which list makes me drool more- the yummies you get to make for the TS party or the Must Do's for the trip! Both are equally drool-worthy!

Good luck not eating all the goodies you make before the guests arrive! :lmao:

I think your boys would like Tom Sawyer Island. I just posted an installment on my trip report with a few pictures. My camera went on the blink that day so I don't have a whole lot.

Let's see if I can explain how to get to the raft dock to Tom Sawyer Island. Stand in front of Country Bear Jamboree and have Splash Mountain in front of you. Straight in front of you, you'll see the wooden walkway. Take the wooden walkway like you were going towards Big Thunder Mountain. Just before you'd go up the walkway to BTM, you'll see a wooden building to your right. That's the raft dock. You'll take the raft over to the island.

Once you get to the island, you'll go to your left and up a hill. Take the first path to your left and continue left. It will take you to a fort. The fort has several buildings. You can see parts of Big Thunder Mountain from inside and there are all sorts of guns the boys can shoot. Also on the island, is a barrel bridge to cross, a windmill, a small playground and caves to explore. It's a nice place to get away from the crowds.
