Day 11 (10 Aug 12) – The Plan is at the window……….
Trip Intro/Index here.
Today should have been en early start in EPCOT with morning EMH. However, we didn’t all get up until gone 8:00, so grabbed a quick breakfast in the room then headed off to Hollywood Studios instead. Arriving just before 9:00, the car parks were quite full and we ended up quite a distance away from the park entrance. However, we followed a few seasoned HS visitors through what looked to be the staff car park, and came through the single bag check near to Guest Relations which was a lot less congested than the main entrance bag check.
A quick queue and we were into HS and yes – over to TSM for fastpasses. Although only 9:15, our return time started at 12:50. With that, over too Tower of Terror for two standby rides (around 20 mins wait each time) before checking out wait times for Aerosmith – at 50 mins, we weren’t going to be waiting that long.
So back across the park where we visited Muppets 3D, then we had an early lunch at ABC Commissary (using 2 CS credits) before moving over to watch Beauty and the Beast at 12:45. After this show, back across to TSM to use our fastpass (standby times 90 mins).
We were considering getting another Fastpass to use after our dinner at Captain’s Grille, but in another change of plan, we had decided to visit Big Cat Rescue on Saturday rather than Sunday as Saturday had a better weather forecast, so we ended up getting an FP for Aerosmith, return time 3:50. To pass some time, we went on the Move Ride, then as Joanne hadn’t had any lunch, called in at Writers Stop for a pastry and an iced coffee (2 snack credits).
A leisurely amble back over to Aerosmith saw us ready to use our 3:50 fastpass – standby time was showing 180 mins, but this appeared to be an error and the time was soon amended to 80 mins. However, we were on the ride in 10 mins, following which we decided the heat was enough and we headed back to the car and OKW.
Last week, we had changed our ADR for another visit to the Captain’s Grille, booked for 7:40. We arrived a little early, but were told there would be a 20 minute delay, which Joanne and Alex spent browsing the shop. Once seated, we enjoyed steaks (Ribeye for Joanne and Alex, NY Strip for myself), with Joanne having the sponge with thyme infused cream, Alex ice cream and myself the cherry and blueberry pie.
Following the meal, we enjoyed a walk around the lakeside to at least help digest the food, before winding our way back to OKW and a not too late night.
