A Pirate Princess's stay at Walt Disney World: Wish trip 2011

THANK YOU!!! I'm having a hard time catching up with school work so I may not be able to post A LOT this weekend...but something for sure!

I'm loving your TR and seeing all the pictures. You, your mom, and sister are so beautiful. Brought tears that you were sitting on Kylees rocking horse ;). I have a picture of her on it during her trip and Korissas. She loves that thing. Can't wait to hear about day 2. Hopefully you'll catch up on your HW soon.

Hey guys! If I do alot of HW today, then I'll maybe be able to post half of day 2!

AAWW that's it! It was Kylee's, not Korissa's! Silly me!
Every time we look at our souveniers from the villa, we desperately want to go back there! But hey, when we checked out, they gave free one-day passes to A LOT of theme parks and we'll be using two of those tickets to go to two theme parks next summer!

Now, I was SOOO excited on the first day that I barely took pictures!:confused3

So, We woke up at 7:00 a.m. to be at the Gingerbread house at opening. It was out first full day so we didn't know what to expect, including the food!
I put on my MAW shirt, the GAC/lanyard, and my GKTW button on my shirt( I would later pin it to the lanyard as it made it easier for CM's to see it because my hair kept getting in the way if it! I also put on a Geenie sticker on which my MAW chapter provided. My sister put on a MAW sticker. As I've mentioned before, my chapter did NOT supply us with MAW buttons, which I most desperately wanted. Seeing almost every single family with them made me kinda jealous/sad. A little bit later than 7:30, I was ready to go, but it's a family thing so you gotta wit for 'em. This is me bubbling with excitement. :yay:
DSC07314.jpg

As you see, I was the one carried the GAC throughout the whole trip unlike many other families( the parents were the ones). My mother doesn't go on most of the rides my sister and me go on so I figured it'd be logical that I'd carry it.

Almost 8 a.m. and my family is almost ready!

Yes, I even took a picture of the clock.
DSC07320.jpg

YAY! We're finally eating breakfast! My mom discovered those delicious waffles. I would regret at the end of the trip not putting whip cream on my waffles every single day. Trust me, it tastes heavenly. I didn't eat a lot because the excitement wouldn't let me. You may remember that we were traveling by MEARS. The pickup time was at 10 a.m. It was 8:30 by the time we finished eating. Here's my sister and me with some volunteers I had recognized from the previous night!
DSC07323.jpg

We went back to the village and brushed our teeth. I decided that it be a cool time to make my pillow since we had more than an hour left!

Here's a pic of Wanda and me with the nicest volunteer we met!
DSC07324.jpg

Wanda is 21 years old, so she's not supposed to be making a pillow since she's registered as and ADULT. My sister asked the volunteer, whose name eludes me, if she could make one. She said something like, " I think *insert owl's name* knew you were coming.." A few minutes later, she told my sister to open the tree trunk and voila! My sister had her very own pillow! You should have seen her face! There we go! Another sprinkle of pixie dust. Even though the pixie dust wasn't directed at me, it makes me even happier that my sister is being treated a like a wish kid also. :thumbsup2

Headed back to the villa:
DSC07325.jpg

So what will we do for 45 minutes? VISIT THE AMBERVILLE TRAIN STATION OF COURSE!

DSC07330.jpg

I kinda forced my sis to ride the train!:rotfl2:
DSC07332.jpg

We rode the train and then hung out for a while. It was nearing train so we went back to the villa to get our stuff to then go to the House of Hearts. There were quite a few families traveling with MEARS...that's when I realized we weren't the only Puerto Ricans there....
DSC07333.jpg

We met our first Puerto Rican family who actually lives in Texas.
Later on, I would count 11 Puerto Rican families, including us! :scared1:
There was a problem that some families did not confirm there reservation and therefore did not have seats on the bus..there were around 15 people standing and MEARS could not have that! Because of this, we ended leaving the village around 11:30 a.m. instead of a bit after 10! YIKES! Now, for all you families traveling with MEARS, Magic Kingdom is the LAST stop. First is AK, then DHS, then, Epcot, and lastly MK.
Getting excited!

AAAAAHHH!!!
DSC07343.jpg

We arrived at the ticket center at 12 pm! Then had to take the monorail to the actual park. My mom waiting for the monorail:

DSC07348.jpg

This was putting me down a bit but whatever! While we were on the monorail, we were speaking with another puerto rican family and giving them tips and stuff.
We're actually here!
DSC07350.jpg

Our first stop? SPACE MOUNTAIN. My mom does not ride rides like these so she waited outside. I was quite nervous as this was the very first time using the GAC. I went to the CM of the standby line and he directed me to show the CM of the fastpass line. W were standing right next to the CM, ignoring the line of people waiting for their fastpasses to be checked. I gave him a quite and child-like "excuse me.." - and then showed him the GAC- With no expression on his face he just directed us to the end of the line. No big deal-in a minute, we reached him again and he passed us through. I was still quite confused with the system. The cars were so different than the one in Disneyland and the track was way different! My sis did not like AT ALL the format of the cars.

We were out in 10 mins.

It was 1 pm now. After that? I think we did Buzz Lightyear or Autopia( don't know how it's called in WDW)... i know we did them both before eating. When we reached the line to Autopia, we noticed some wheelchair folks were being let in and there was a VERY short line for the wheelchairs. The standby line was gigantic. So we went to the CM's at the wheelchair entrance and they let us through. We got some weird looks because we clearly did not have a wheelchair. Oh well.

Driving a car was so cool! We were so hungry we decided to eat now, and then hit Fantasyland. I don't remeber where we ate, but it had this alien thing singing and making jokes..??
We ate chicken breast nuggets! YUM!!!!

We headed on to Fantasyland! We did many rides there. We loved Peter Pan! In Peter Pan, this lovely Puerto Rican CM escorted us to the disabled line instead of the FP line. We got on immediately.
We also rode dumbo and I know I took pictures but my computer said there were errors in them so they were not uploaded. :(
We also went on Winnie the Pooh!
DSC07354.jpg

After that, we went to Frontierland and Adventureland! We did almost every ride there! Comparing Splash Mountain to the one at DLR, I like DLR better. We were sent through FP line for Splash Mountain which had quite a bit of a wait. When we got off, I decided to ask a CM if we were directed correctly and he told me that we would never be directed through the exit. :confused3 As he was answering me, there was this lady with a sour face sort of trying to hand him another GAC- which was not the MAW one- for her obviously mentally disabled teenage boy, as though she was demanding being let in. I do not judge her for I do not know what troubles she faces with her son. May God bless her.

Thunder Mountain is my Mom's favorite! We were sent through the wheelchair line. I didn't have to say anything. The CM saw me from afar and kindly told me to go the disabled line. We waited only for 10 mins and got on! The ride was SOO funny!!!!!:rotfl:

After finishing most of the rides at MK, we decided to visit the Wish Lounge. We stayed there for 10 minutes and got cold water bottles.

DSC07360.jpg

We park-hoped to to DHS and rode Tower of Terror and Toy Story Mania. For Tower of Terror, we directed to the FP line. Apparently, one side of the tower was down and we ended up waiting 40 minutes! That's not pleasant when it's already around 5 pm and you were in MK the whole day. Once I got close to a CM, I asked her if my sister and me, being part of MAW, could go through some special way and be let on as soon as possible. Rudely, she said, "No. This is where you have to wait." Around eight minutes later, I saw people in wheelchair appearing out if this elevator and being let on the ride with very little wait as I had to stand in line, watch them go by, one by one. I was like, "Really?"

For Toy Story Mania, we were let through FP. For all you families with wheelchairs, the FP line is totally accessible AND the disabled line appears right when the FP line and standby line merge. BUT, if you chose NOT to do the disabled line because your child is not in a wheelchair or stroller, be aware that there we will quite a long flight of stairs, both up and down. We noticed the wheelchair line was going really slow so we stook with the standby line and got in the ride 10 mins later.

Again, about MEARS, you must call 2 hours before you wish to be picked up. My mom called around 5 and we were picked up at 7:00 a.m. Usually, there will be a pickup time earlier than two hours, but you never know.

Well, that's it for day 2 at the parks!

Next post will be the Pirate and Princess Party!- which is still day 2!

After the parks, I attended the Pirate and Princess Party by myself. My mom was way too tired and hungry, so was my sister. I decided to hold off on eating. I mean, who could eat when you're so overwhelmed?! ( The last time we had eaten was around 6 hours ago). The party is held at the Park of Dreams.

There were many pirates and beautiful princesses and I'm not just talking about the volunteers! The kids were transformed! I had taken lots pictured but my computer didn't download them. I got a few though.

While at the part, I spoke with two Puerto Rican families. I met a family composed of the wish teen( she's 19 but made her wish at 18), her nephew, mother, father and a translator. They barely knew English so a translator came with them. I don't mean to be rude, but that translator knew poorly the English language and believe it or not, while she was trying to communicate with a pirate in the party about a question the wish child had, I had to *humbly* step in and quickly get the message through. My family and I became friends with that family. We miss them so much! Turns out, they live in Bayamon and if you've ever looked at our map, we live side by side. ( I live in Guaynabo).

I couldn't stop staring at the mini water park. LOL

DSC07369.jpg

Here's me with the pirate whale..I guess? The other wish girl was nice enough to take this picture!

DSC07370.jpg

Again, more Pixie Dust by another wish child! I didn't want to go ahead of my trip report, but it was sad to learn during our last day at the village that she is HIV Positive. She was born that way. She never told me personally. She told my Mom and sister while I was somewhere else. I hope I see her again. BUT, I am happy to report that at 19 years of age, she is in her third year of college and studying Biology!
DSC07373.jpg

So at 8:30, the party was over and we were still conversing. I had told her about my day at the Magic Kingdom. I was very happy to have met her. Her nephew, the translator and her walked me to my villa and then continued on to theirs. We said our goodnights.

I found my Mom washing clothes( we have three MAW shirts and I would never use of my own shirts for the rest of the week.)

DSC07376.jpg

And if you're traveling with syringes or other dangerous medical equipment that need to be discarded after use, here's this:
DSC07377.jpg

After 7 hours without eating, i found myself a bit hungry so my mom ordered Pizza. Yum!

Next post: Day 3- Universal Studios.... IN FLORIDA?! What?! and Mayor Clayton's Birthday Party!

Still loving your TR. Pictures are great. Thank you for taking the time to write it out. We had to go through all the wheelchair lines since Kylee was in her SN stroller. The Toy Story line was the longest because mist people they had to take down the ride to get the person in wheelchairs onto the ride. They would only stop the ride about every 10 min or so. If you have 2 or 3 people needing this.. The wait can be long.

It really can be! My sister, mom and I took didn't go through the wheelchair line even though we could have if we opted to. After riding TSM one time, my sister and I decided to ride it again. After we FINISHED riding it again, we saw this family still waiting in line since the first time we rode it!

Claudia, I love your writing style. I also love how you compare the two parks. The Pooh ride is a lot different too! You should have ridden Pirates as it is a lot shorter and only has one drop! I love that you went to the princess party. I went to Disney World with a friend and her family when I was 14 for the first time. I fell in love with Disney! My husband and I will be going this Saturday and we will act like two big kids the park. I think that Disney has a special kind of magic that cannot be found anywhere else! :cheer2:

Thank you!!!!!

Yeah, Pooh ride is different! We did not go to Pirates because my sister read here on the DIS that the WDW was a bit boring compared to the DLR one. And I like drops! :lmao:

I can't believe you're going this saturday!!!! Sooo excited, huh?! You don't have to do a trip report, but can you at least post some pics?

And to the sentence in bold: True that! Everyone's a child there!

awesome report so far we leave in 4 days and I'm doing the disney dance and living vicariously through your report til i can make it there myself woohoo

Claudia - Great trip report. Looking forward to more once you finish all that HW.:thumbsup2

Claudia, get well soon! I will take lots of pictures on my trip to share when I get home. I am also getting over a cold that my oldest brought home from school last weekend! Good luck on your tests! :wizard:

How as everything?! I'm so sorry I haven't been able to post anything! I've been so busy and will still be!

I went to the pediatrician today and he said that I have pharyngitis, adenoiditis( spelling?), and asthmatic bronchitis. Also, my lymph nodes in my neck hurt a a lot accompanied by a stiff neck. I had a low-grade fever this morning but as long as it stays low-grade, that means my body is doing it's job!

After going to the doctor, I had to take another test. Wow, so fun! -.-

The doctor prescribed antibiotics, prednisone and Xopenex.

I want to see your pictures!:banana:
