Day 4
Tuesday April 28
Back in January we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a few days. I bought a souvenir mug at the resort gift shop. Tony usually buys a t-shirt or two every time we visit Disney. Tony mentioned that I should get a mug for all of the resorts we have stayed at. Hmmm, what a good idea! So, today was the day we decided to do a little resort hopping to start my mug collection! We were also looking forward to taking a ride on the Monorail as well as seeing the resorts we haven’t been to in several years including the Contemporary and the Caribbean Beach Club.
This morning we headed down to the Yacht Club’s table service restaurant, Captain’s Grille for breakfast at about 10 am. It was nice to see that there was no line up or wait for a table. Things were fairly quiet, which was a nice change. We decided to have the buffet breakfast. Here are a couple pictures of the buffet.
Yum! Pastries!
I tend to like having sweet things for breakfast, so I started out with the ever popular Mickey waffles.
Then I had a couple of pastries with coffee and orange juice
Tony is a bacon and egg man, so had filled up on scrambled eggs as well as toast and apple juice.
We decided to take the boat to Epcot rather than walk today. Our timing was good again today because the boat was already there and ready to head over to Epcot. We stopped along the way to take a few pictures as well as get a couple fastpasses for Soarin' just in case we happen to be around at that time. We took the monorail to the ticket and transportation station.
Oh, we got the GOLD monorail!
Then we took the resort monorail to our first stop, the Contemporary. It was strangely quiet on the monorail today, and we had the car to ourselves!
Although the Contemporary is a little dated looking, it is still one of my favourite resorts that we have stayed at. Back in 2000 had a great top floor pool/lake view room and best of all, a great bathroom! We went straight to the Contemporary gift shop to find my mug. Well, there were no resort mugs! I couldn’t believe it! There goes my complete collection of resort mugs.

On the way out we stopped in at the arcade because we had a card for 30 minutes of game time. I am a Ms. Pacman maven if I do say so myself! Tony likes the Nascar game.
We are both pretty competitive, and we have a long standing feud to settle who the best air hockey player is. Admittedly, he has won ever game we ever played, but I didn’t make it easy for him! But I have to say, I am much better at mini golf! (more on that later!) We didn’t end up playing today, but the feud will be settled next time!
Mickey outside the Contemporary
Next, we took the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge. On the way out, we took a couple pictures of the new Bay Lake Tower.
On the way to the Wilderness Lodge we met up with a stranded woman in a sea raycer. We pulled up next to her and our boat Captain radioed for help. She wasn’t the least bit concerned about being stranded and was actually enjoying the scenery and floating around!
Ahh, the Wilderness Lodge.
We loved staying here during the Christmas season last year. We walked past our old room on the way to the lobby and realized that our room number was the same as our room at the Yacht Club! We wondered around the gift shop for a bit and I found a cute t-shirt and of course, my resort mug!
After wandering the Wilderness Lodge for a bit we headed out to the bus stop to get a bus to Hollywood Studios, then another bus to our next resort, The Caribbean Beach Club. We stayed in Aruba way back in 1994. We decided to go over to Old Port Royale(the Caribbean Beach Club’s counter service area) for lunch.
Oops, I almost forgot to take a picture of my lunch! I had Pizza, cranberry juice and a chocolate chip cookie.
Tony had a burger, fries, coke and chocolate chip cookie.
I liked my pizza, Tony wasn’t thrilled about his burger, but it was edible. After lunch we went into the gift shop to start hunting for my mug! I found a mug and Tony bought a t-shirt. Mission accomplished! We walked over to Aruba to try to remember what room we stayed in, but we couldn’t remember. It was nice to go back after all these years and see the very first resort we stayed at!
We took the bus back over to Epcot and went on Spaceship Earth. I liked that ride! It was fun! However it did stop part way through a couple times and we were stuck there for a few minutes before it started up again. Next we went on Soarin' and used the fastpasses we got earlier.
It’s the second time we have been on Soarin' and both times we were in the front row, so that was nice. I loved going over those waves and the smell of the orange grove! Next we decided to try out the Living the Land ride. It was kind of interesting, and frankly, we were so tired that it was nice to just sit back for a while on a quiet ride.
We were getting pretty tired by this time so we decided to go back to the room and rest for a little bit before we come back to watch Illuminations and I beat Tony at mini golf again(maybe)!
Up next: Illuminations, putt putt, the great ice cream hunt!
