Has anyone ever had anything like this? For the past few days I have had a pain in the right side of my neck, sort of in the bone, and the pain radiates down to my shoulder and the top of my back, like in the muscle area there. Im having trouble sleeping at night because of this and its quite annoying during the day too.
Im one of those people who tries to avoid doctors at all costs, but if it keeps up I think I will have to call on Tuesday. So has anyone ever had anything like this. What was it and what did you do to help it?
Thanks for any advice.

I have literally had a "pain in the neck" now since November and after several not very fun tests, I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis.......a condition the doctors say I've developed because of my broken neck. (I broke my neck 24 yrs ago!)

What's sad is I have ridden rides at Disney now for years and never ever had a problem with my neck. I can barely ride in a car now without pain so next year's trip could be interesting.:(

My arthritis causes the same symptoms. Sounds like you need to make an exception and see the doctor and find out what's causing your problem. No point in being in pain if you don't have to be.

Wow - I can't believe it. I have the exact same thing. This is the 2nd time I've had it.

The physical therapist I was referred to thinks it's the 2 joints in my neck that connect all the major muscles, overworked and tight.

Stretching, ice and heat help greatly. If you have any tingling/numbness to your arm or fingers, it could be a pinched nerve.

You should see your doc for relief. I was prescribed Norflex (muscle relaxer) Naprosen (anti-inflammatory) and Percocet for the pain when it was really bad.

At the very least, apply some ice or heat to loosen that muscle or ask someone to massage it for you until you can be seen. I'm going on a month now.

Hope you feel some relief soon!

Thanks for the advice everyone.
I have been putting heat on it and that feels good. I was hoping it would go away over the weekend but so far no signs of that. I had tendonitis in my foot a little over a year ago so maybe Ill give that doctor a call Tuesday.
Good luck to all of you too!

How weird! I have had the exact same thing for a while now. It was diagnosed as a pinched nerve. The nerve being impinged is causing my muscles in the area to swell up and cause more pain. I can barely lay on my back anymore, because my shoulder and upper back hurt so bad. I've been seeing a chiropractor and it helps temporarily, but I would like to find something that could just get rid of it. Ice works best for me. I guess I'm just getting old. ;)
