A packing tip

I'm in the process of packing for our trip on Wednesday. My son laughed at something I always do:

Each suitcase contains one full outfit belonging to someone else. So one of my outfits is in my son's case, and one of his is in his sisters, and so on.

Should the airlines lose a case, the owner would be OK for at least one day-- certainly long enough to either track down the suitcase or buy some emergency replacements.

What a great tip ! Last year we ended up with someone else suitcase just because it was the same color.

I thought a hot pink color would not be to popular. Boy was I wrong.
I now have grey with pinguins all over. So far one of a kind
.

Great tip! We had our suitcase taken one time, mistaken for someone else's, although it was clearly marked with ribbons, etc. I now have lime green duct tape all around our bags.

We also have neon colored bandannas around the handles.

Last year, somehow one never made it onto the DME bus from the Poly. When I called the next day, they identified it right away and I had it 24 hours later. That bright orange bandanna must have helped:thumbsup2

I do the same thing. I split mine and DD13's clothes -- 1/2 hers and 1/2 mine in each suitcase. I also pack one outfit for each of us in our carryons. Because I'm a size 22, I would never be able to find anything in my size on Disney property and would hate to have to take a taxi or rent a car to go somewhere and buy more clothes. At least if I have a few outfits, I can do laundry and get through without spending money I haven't budgeted for the trip.

This is what we do too. Haven't had problems with lost luggage yet but it won't be too bad for us when it does happen.

DH and I split all our stuff up. Last trip his suitcase didn't make it on our flight luckily we had done the clothes this way but nothing else. Now I buy the travel sizes of deoderant, toothpaste, etc. and even extra toothbrushes so we have double of everything but each suitcase has a complete set.

Whenever we are flying down to WDW I 'cross pack' all of our suitcases. I make sure we each have a swimsuit, shorts and tops that go together, socks, underwear (I know TMI!!) in all of our suitcases. In other words, I don't have a suit case for just one person. That way in case any one of the suitcases get lost, we can all survive on the other ones without grief to our vacation.

Now when we come home....that is a whole different story!!! As long as everything fits and gets back with us including all the extra 'stuff' we purchased...then packing is successful...:lmao:

Great tip, I wouldn't have thought of that! Thanks for sharing! ... these posts all have me fearful of bringing my all black luggage! Guess I better get some bright ribbons or bandanas!

after the airlines losing our bag last year, I try to only do carry-ons. But when we do check bags we cross back our items just in case.

I always do this (haven't lost a bag yet though :wizard:)

I mostly do it with my DD9. I make sure each of our bags has some of our panties, a swim suit, clothes, and crocs. I also carry 1 bathing suit and panties for each of us in one of our carry ons. One thing I don't want to shop for in WDW is a bathing suit. (And yes that does mean I bring us at least 3-DD's are so small they take up very little room! ;) )

I also do a few exchanges with my DM. We can wear some of the same clothes though she is one size smaller than I am.

Definitely tie something on your bag to ID it. Especially if it's black, red, or dark green.

I have done this for years. I don't trust the airlines with my luggage at all. :rolleyes1

I also pack one set of extra clothes in our carry-ons.

DS and I are bean poles, so we have a difficult time finding clothes that fit us, especially shorts!

Good tip!

:cheer2:

I try to put so many pompoms, tags, ribbons and handle ties on my luggage that even I AM EMBARRASSED to carry them. :rotfl:

:dance3:

We are doing the same thing plus a spare in the carry on as well. A pair of shorts, top, and clean underwear so that if both cases land up going missing we have at least some thing to wear.

We used one of my DH old ties and wrap that round the handles of the cases and I have brought those straps that you put around your cases as well as its not always easy to spot your case if the handle is facing away from you.

great tip. I never thought of that , but I will be using that one when we go in Sept. thanks
