A Note about Garden Grocer

I placed an order 1 month early with Garden Grocer because I wanted to make sure I would get my preferred delivery date, which is a Saturday in the late afternoon or evening.

I was charged immediately for the order.

Since placing it some of our plans changed and I revised the order removing about $30-$35 worth of items and adding a few considerably less expensive items.

I was expecting a refund of at least $20. After waiting 2 weeks I wrote them and was told I would get the refund after the order is complete. Basically, that means after delivery.

They also do not send an updated list of items purchased, which will make it difficult to tell if everything is there.

In the future I will simply place a small order to hold my date/time and then add to it, which must be done via email.

It's a great idea and a convenient service, but I really have to question why they need our money at order and will not refund when changes are made.

Mary2e, I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles with GardenGrocer. Please keep us updated as to the resolution of this situation.

Thanks, but I really don't consider it a real problem.

I just wanted to warn others and offer the advice to place a small order to hold the spot, and then increase as needed.

Also, as a rule, I don't do business with any internet retailer who wants payment upon order and not upon shipment.

GG could take a small deposit on order and then the balance about a week or less before delivery.

As I said, they're a good service. I will just change the way I do business with them in the future.

:thumbsup2 I'm also considering using them for our upcoming trip. We'll be in a DVC Villa and I want to have at least two healthy meals a day in the room. Plus, it will be September and we plan to relax around the resort mid-day. Also, our children only drink organic milk and I know they have a great variety of organic products. I may even throw some boxes of Horizon in my bag (:thumbsup2 I love Costco for those).

:goodvibes Is there anyone out there who has used GG? I'd love to hear your comments.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the tip on making a smaller order and adding if needed. I'll keep that in mind.

We've used Garden Grocer at least 3 times and are using them again in 2 weeks. We've never had a problem at all.

:confused3 We are arriving Aug 1st. When should I place my order?
TIA

I placed mine just a little over a month in advance. I wanted to make sure I could get the delivery within a few hours of checking in. I don't know if there are more popular times or not. I asked for a 4pm-6pm delivery on a Sat and it appeared all the time slots were available.

I would place a small order to hold your slot and add to it as needed.

We had a great experience with them.
When they left the order, there was a printed list showing all the items I ordered in one of the bags. OP- hopefully there will be one of those for you, too, so you can make sure everything you ordered is there.

Thanks... having the list will make it a bit easier. I'm still going to have to cross check it against my original order and make sure they didn't leave anything out or include stuff I removed.

Like I said, a small order to start and then adding to it seems it will be a whole lot easier.

We used them for our trip in June... on our original order I had put Pay on Delivery... then I changed my mind and wanted them to deliver it and gave them a Credit Card. It took a couple of weeks before they charged my credit card.

They also left a print out for us of the items they delivered. It was nice to have everything there when we arrived... it was a nice welcoming.

We used them for our April trip and had a great experience! They were on-time, accurate and the quality of the items were just as described on their website. It was great to have bottled water every day and we had gotten a disposable cooler from them as well, each morning we refilled with ice and had cold water bottles for our mornings out to the parks. We will definitely use them again!
