Hollywood...1939...amidst the glitz and the glitter of bustling young movie town in the height of its golden age The Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right, a beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that, the time is now, on a night very much like we have just witnessed-- Wait...this isn't Hollywood and it certainly isn't 1939...

The time is now; FOR SOME INTROS!!!

YAYAYAYAYAYAYA

Welcome aboard this service elevat...er...PRE TRIP REPORT!! Many of you may know me already, and for those of you who don't, WELCOME! I promise you this journey wont be *quite* as terrifying as falling 13 stories through an abandoned hotel! Eeek!

Im Katt!!

I would be the Alice in that photo&and for those wondering, thats from MNSSHP last year! Lawl. Ive been a Disney lover my whole life, but was only taken to DLR when I was a young child, and then didnt return to the parks until May 2011, which is where the obsession began! I then proceeded to take a whopping 11 trips since then, many of which were funded with Annual Pass discounts! Yay! I mainly travel with friends, sometimes solo, and once with my Mom!

My favorite park is Magic Kingdom, followed closely by Animal Kingdom, it just doesnt get enough love! Main Street is easily my favorite land, although the New Fantasyland is pretty close behind. I love falling down elevator shafts, playing games alongside toys, watching my favorite Muppets, facing off against a yeti, and falling into the briar patch. I just recently braved the regions of outer space, and actually have never rocked along with Aerosmith (well see if that happens this time around). My favorite characters include: Tinkerbell, Periwinkle, Rapunzel, Ariel, and Lottie!

When Im not at Disney, Im bartending at your local dinner theater up here in Calgary, Alberta Canada, and ballroom dancing. Ive got a history with ballet and jazz as well, and have just recently gotten back into them in hopes of achieving my goals to become a Disney performer! I can actually pinpoint the moment that dream happened, WAY back in 1997, I went to Disneyland with my Mom, and there was a Lion King parade. We happened to sit down beside an older couple whos daughter was in the parade, and because we started chatting, when the point in the parade came to give guests instruments to play and dance along with, I got to play the instrument that their daughter gave out. There, that was it, the moment that it all began. Since then, Ive attended a bunch of Disney auditions, ranging from Character performer, to parade performer to character look alike, and even one for Hong Kong Disneyland! Theyve all been an incredible experience, but the *one* hasnt happened yet, so were keeping our fingers crossed.

BUT, enough about me, lets move on to who else is part of this trip:

My MOM! Yay! Also known as Ann, she was fortunate enough to be able to take me to DLR as a child, and had grown up watching Disneyland on TV. After my first trip to Disney World, I knew I needed to take her there, and before I even got home, was planning all the awesome things we could do! Shes retired now, and since has been doing a ton of traveling with her sister, their first big trip being to Africa, and she loves all things Africa.

Last Christmas, I surprised her with a trip down to Disney world for her birthday in September, with a stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge with a savannah view, and we even lucked out at got free dining! However, there will be more of that later! I soon started talking to her about returning this year, and she agreed! From what I can assume from our last trip, she loved AKL (duh, who wouldnt?!) and Animal Kingdom! Toy Story Mania was a hit for her, along with the stage shows, and especially Festival of the Lion King, which is HANDS DOWN my favorite too, so its good that we agree on things! She was even brave enough to say sure, Ill go on it to every ride that I went on! Mom braved Tower of Terror multiple times, and rode Expedition Everest 3 times in a row first thing in the morning!

When we started talking about a return trip, we started talking about making it a group thing, as she has a friend on her gymnastics team that has always wanted to go, but her husband hates crowds. Obviously, she was meant to come with us! So now, I introduce to you: Anne

Shes on the right hand side in the red. Im assuming that this is a picture from their gymnastics teams trip over to Europe for the International Gymnaestrada a few years back.

I wont lie, I dont know much about her, but that Mom has loved traveling with her on gym trips, and shes the adventurous one of the group that actually wants to go do things rather than just sit on the beach, so thats a good thing! Her birthday is the last day of our trip, and Moms is Sept 2nd so the whole trip will be a birthday celebration of extravagant proportions!

For your viewing pleasure, heres a simple shot of their gym team:

Pretty awesome, I know. Mom used to do gymnastics as a child, and of course, put me in when I was little. I swapped back and fourth through artistic and rhythmic, did some dancing, and even ended up in cheer leading near the end. I traveled across Canada and over to Portugal for events, and when I was all done with it, Mom started up again in rhythmic as they had just started an adults team. Once she was old enough, she joined the Dynamos which is the team their on now, an all seniors team that is totally awesome and rocks the socks off anyone whos watching!

With this TR I plan on doing a bit of an ADR guessing game, so I'll start off by telling you that we have 8 ADR's booked currently, ever day except one has an ADR, some are at resorts, and some are at the parks. Some are old favorites, and some are new to all of us, and some are new to just Mom, it'll be a deliciously exciting trip to say the least!

Stay tuned for more!!

FIRST!!!!! (that never happens). :cool1:

I just happened to catch this on FB. Three reports at once...:worship:

Hahaha!!

Ugh, don't even remind me! I've got Sept and Feb on the go, now this, AND I'm going to be starting the audition TR sometime soon! Although that one won't take long. AND thanks to typing them up beforehand it's not too stressful for me! :rolleyes1

Now that Ive gone through the Whos lets do the rest of the Ws, shall we?!

When : Sept 11 to Sept 19th
We did our first September trip in 2011 and we absolutely loved it! Prices were cheaper, crowds were low, temperatures were hot, there were adorable fall decorations all over the place, HALLOWEEN parties to attend, and best of all, some FREE DINING!!

Where:
This one was a little harder to choose! I had priced out some different options at first and debated them with myself before emailing out my travel buddies to see what they thought. My first pick was to rent DVC points, and stay at Beach Club! After seeing the gorgeousness that was that resort when we ate at Beaches and Cream, I fell in love and new that Mom would love it.

Our second choice, and alternatively, the cheap choice, was Art of Animation! I love the price of the values, and AoA is the best of them, so itd be lovely to stay there again, and it doesnt hurt that Ariels my favsies!

The third choice was Port Orleans! Ive been dying to stay here forever, and its the last of the moderates for me to stay in, and Im one of those people who has a goal of staying at every Disney resort! Lawl! I debated between Riverside and French Quarter, and after realizing that French Quarter was smaller, and had only 1 bus stop and thus no internal bus loops to worry about, it won over.

Then came the deliberation between the three. I knew that if free dining was announced, and we had booked through DVC points, we wouldnt get the promo, and after realizing that even with the point rental discount was a bit too much money for us, so Beach Club went out the window for a couple of years! One day!

With one resort out of the way, I emailed detailed descriptions, pictures, and advantages/disadvantages out to Mom and Ann, and in the end, the resort that was more suited to adults won!

PORT ORLEANS French Quarter!! Im SUPER pumped as its a new resort, its really nice looking, and hey, theres some delicious snacks there!

Im pretty sure Im going to live off a steady diet of these and Uncrustables this trip. Truth.

Why:
This ones always a little all over the place, but of course, we all love Disney, and I covered the basics already, BUT, there are some special events occurring on this trip.

Both my Mom and Annes birthdays are going to be celebrated:

That's Mom last year at her "official" birthday dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, yeah, don't we all wish we could have our birthday in a castle!

Birthdays are always awesome, and in Disney, theyre even greater! Another special event happening is of course, Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party!

Not only is it an AWESOME event, but its got HANDS DOWN, the BEST fireworks display of all year, the BEST parade, special characters, an entire castle show dedicated to the villains, dance parties, and trick or treating. PLUS, you get to dress up, and get AWESOME photos like such;

I know, were cute. MNSSHP is probably my favorite thing Disney has to offer. Ive gone as Tink, Periwinkle, and obviously Alice. Ill do another guessing game for who my costume this year is! Heehee. I originally planned the trip with two parties for everyone, but Mom and Anne decided they would only go to one, leaving me to go SOLO to one of them! Eeek! I also may be meeting up with some Disney friends during that party so I wont be totally alone! Haha.

Another exciting add on were doing this time around is the Keys to the Kingdom Tour! Im super excited just because I love all things Disney and lets be serious, I want to see the utilidoors! I couldnt find any pictures summarizing it, so have a picture of a tour guide&

To Summarize

Me, my Mom and her friend Anne will be going down to Disney World Sept 11-19 2013 staying at Port Orleans French Quarter with 7 day parkhopper passes and the Free Dining promotion and attending Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party (me more than once!)

The ADR Guessing Game Post

Okay, I’m making this up as I go so bare with me! I will post the “Day Plans” updates every Friday! On that Friday, I’ll tell you where we’re going that day, and how many ADR’s there are, and whether it’s in a PARK, or at a RESORT.

You’ll have until Thursday night (late, late night, I work evenings so I’ll check all your stuff before I go to bed) to get your votes in and I’ll tally everything up!

In total we have 8 ADRs in total.
-3 of them are at Resorts
-Obviously that means the other 5 are at the Parks
-3 of them are dinners
-3 of them are lunches
-2 of them are breakfasts!

Have fun! And may the odds be ever in your favor!

(bahahahaa…)

The First Post

This one’s going to be a little bit of everything, just give ya some more background info on who we are, and of course, get you started on the ADR game!

As stated previously, Mom and I have traveled to Disney World once before, last September, and we loved it! You can feel free to check out that Trip Report HERE:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3002238

It’s actually a two parter trip, half with Mom and half with the best friend, totaling in a two week Disney trip for me! It was a fantastic trip for both of us.

We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge with a savannah view, ate at a ton of new and different restaurants including: Boma, Le Cellier, 50’s Prime Time, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Tusker House, Crystal Palace and Tony’s!

The highlights of the trip for me of course, included introducing Mom to my love of Disney, and getting her to see everything that I had spent the last year and a half raving about, and of course, where all my money had gone, baha! They shined super bright when we were simply exploring AKL our first night and she was beyond happy that I had definitely picked the right resort;

Then again when I got to introduce her to some of my favorite character friends and they all got along swimmingly;

When we dined at 50’s Prime Time and Mom felt like she was back in the house she grew up in;

The moment Festival of the Lion King ended and she turned to me and said “CAN WE WATCH THAT AGAIN?” Uhm… of course, it’s only the BEST thing on property!

And of course the moment that I loved the most and will never forget, when we were watching the Move It Shake It Celebrate it in Magic Kingdom and Mom wanted to go dance with Baloo! She made her way out, and Baloo got swamped with obnoxious kids, so she turned away to go back to the sidewalk when Timon saw her, pulled her into the middle of the dancing, and only had eyes for her for the rest of the dance party, and even blew her kisses and the “call me” sign as the parade ended! I still tear up thinking about how magical it was!

Of course, Disney is the place where everyone can be a kid, and everyone encourages playing and being silly! Disney is the place for the kid in all of us!

It’s great to experience Disney in general, but to be able to experience it with someone who truly enjoys it and fully immerses themselves into the magic bubble while they’re there is even greater. I’m so happy to be going back with Mom, and am thrilled that Anne will be joining us on our crazy adventure.

Now, Day 1 will be posted on Friday May 24. It’s our arrival day, and there is 1 dinner ADR, and it’s at a deluxe resort, and it’s something new for me, and it’s a buffet! That’s all I’m going to give you for now, haha. So have you guesses in by Thurs May 23’s evening and we’ll start tallying up the points!

In the meantime, I’ll post some random updates of life that’s going on and the types of planning and just overall spring/summer fun times!!

Ah yay a September PTR!!! I'm beyond excited.

Ah there's a game too! Even more awesome. My guess is for Chef Mickeys. I was gonna say Ohana but I feel like you did Ohana before. And I'm not sure it's technically a buffet. Hm. I might be overthinking this!

PS The hunger game reference made my day!

It's so cool that your mom does gymnastics! My favorite sport! Certainly proves that you are never too old to do it.

Have you ever been to Cape May Cafe? I can't remember. I'm going to vote for that.

I'm subscribing too! I'm going to WDW in October so I'll just miss ya! I'm going solo so maybe I'll write my 1st TR....

I was going to vote for Cape May Cafe (which I love!) too. Look forward to following along!

Hi! I'm joining in! This ADR game looks great fun! I'm going to guess The crystal palace for one of them. I love this PTR so far! :thumbsup2 I can't wait for more updates!

:wave2: Glad you're here! Thanks!! I'm happy you're enjoying!

Welp, we're one week away from revealing our plans for Day 1 and our first ADR, so I've got to occupy you guys somehow, right? So here's an update on my life!!

-As stated previously, I'm a dancer, and (as some of you know) I had a ballroom competition the first weekend of May that was very successful

-Mom and Anne had a gymnastics performance the weekend after that!

-I went to Disney World for two more auditions in between those two (there will be a quick little TR in the near future for that!)

-Currently; this is what's happening:

-I'm preparing (and trying to save all the money possible) for a parade performer audition in June. While I have a steady job, making just over minimum wage and really bad tips doesn't supply greatly. I've found a hotel that's $76.00 for the entire trip! :worship: Flights however, are what's tough, coming at the steep price of :faint: $530.

In order to try and save money I've actually had to stop ballroom from now until after the audition, which is absolutely killing me, but sometimes you've got to give up a passion for a dream, right? It also gives me a bit more energy to focus on ballet/jazz which will help more for the audition. As much fun as it would be to be a character, I feel like I'd enjoy it more being in parades/shows, it's bringing two of my biggest loves and passions together! And it would be amazing!

In other audition prep, I'm still getting my tattoo removed (eck) A few years ago I wimped out of the tattoo I wanted, and ended up getting a Gemini sign on my "hip" I put that in quotes because it's higher than my hip, and bigger than I wanted. If I was ever to get a job with Disney, it would put me in the "not approved" category for anyone with an exposed stomach, and ballroom costumes won't always cover it, so this is why I've chosen to do that!

I've also gone dairy free this week, you think that would've happened the 8 years ago when I found out I was lactose intolerant, but no, my love of cheese was too strong. Life without cheese certainly is hard, but without it I feel a lot better and not so bloated or gross. Yay!

I'm still trying to convince myself that going to the parade audition will be worth it, but it just feels right. It's for stuff like: FOTLK, Move It Shake It, and of course, the Halloween and Christmas parades, well, three of those things are my absolute favorite things in Disney, even when I'm listening to FOTLK I have that feeling that it's meant to be, and that I will be part of it, and sometime soon. With four look a like auditions behind me, I've started to wonder if I have the "face" for Disney or not (and boy do I wish they had enough time to tell you that at the audition, but they don't) but one thing I do know is that I can dance, and could easily be a performer, and these auditions don't come along much anymore, so it needs to happen! :thumbsup2

Anyhow, I've been rambling LONG enough, it's finally warm and sunny here, which is awesome too! Sorry there weren't any pictures, I promise there will be more later!

Have a magical day!!

:wizard:

Katt, I know I've said it before but you know what I'm gonna say it again.
I absolutely LOVE that you have this dream and you continue to follow it.

I truly hope you are able to make the auditions despite the costs. Admittedly I don't know a ton, but what I do know is you love to dance, you're great at dance (10 first places, I mean c'mon), and you love Disney. Sooner or later they're gonna get that.

Now then, as for a guess, my puny memory cannot cannot remember all your ADR's of the past, so I'm gonna go with Chef Mickey as well.

And where oh where is this hotel? Just curious. I know some that are really cheap, so I just have to know.
