This is our first trip to Disney. We have babysitting in the evening and would like to have a nice dinner with just the two of us. What do you rec?

V&A is not our style. Something more casual is better for us.

California Grill?

TIA!!!

Melanie

PS This is my first post on this board!

PSS We are going the first week of July.

We really enjoyed the Yachtsman at Yacht club. It was laid back, more casual, very good food and service. Afterward we waddled over to the world showcase and watched illuminations. It was a relaxing night and DD loved her time at the neverland club.

The best meal I've ever had at WDW was at Citricos. The food was so good and the service was amazing. I highly recommend it.

My favorite is Citricos. Then I would pick Artist Point. I love being over at Wilderness Lodge.

Welcome to the board! It would be a toss up between Citricos and Yachtsman Steakhouse for me. Depends on what type of food you like. You can look at the menus by clicking on the Dining link on this site. Does location matter? Citricos is in GF and Yachtsman is in the Yacht Club resort near Epcot.

You might want to call Disney Dining to see what is still available! First week in July is a busy time and some of the restaurants might not have any availability! Good luck and have a great time!

Our favorite is Chefs de France... great wine and a relatively quitet atmosphere for Disney!

When we went on our honeymoon we discovered three good choices when you are without the kids:

1) Le Celliar/ Canada in Ecopt- Looks like an old, wine cellar. Fantastic steak!
2) Yachtsman was also great (saw other people agree). Nice, casual, but more for adults. Great steak.
3) Artists point in the WL (also got some other votes) was wonderful. Salmon cooked on wood is yummy. Steak their is also great.

I would vote for Narcoose (sp?).
We have had great meals and great service. It has a awesome view as well. I think it also has a nice balance between nice place to eat and not being too formal.

The best meal that I have ever had was at La Cellier in Canada. They have excellent food. Their steak is exquisite. Also, if you are not a meat lover, they can make special vegetarian dishes for you. My dad is a vegetarian and the chef made him something special. He said it was one of the best things that he had ever eaten!

Hope this helps and welcome to the boards!!!

I'd go for Yachtsman's too. It's the best meal we've had other than V&A's in the past 3 years.

Jiko is my favorite restaurant at WDW. It has an African influenced menu (but nothing too crazy) and a fabulous all South African wine list, with many wines not available anywhere else in the US. It is wonderful.

Citrico's, Artist Point and Yachtsman Steakhouse are all also very good.

I vote for the California Grill.
We were there last week and it was amazing. The sushi is out of this world, and the filet was the best I've had on-property.
Not to mention that view!

Welcome to the DIS!!!:goodvibes

I guess it depends on where you are staying. Here's some of our favorites:

Jiko - Filet with mac & cheese in red wine sauce is probably my favorite dish in all of WDW! Great South African wine list.

Yachtsmen Steakhouse - Good food, casual atmosphere but very nice.

Flying Fish - Potato Wrapped Snapper, Crab Cakes & the best Calamari I've had! Large drink & wine menu!

I've been reading great things about Artist Point and California Grill but we haven't tried them, yet!

There are quite a few wonderful places you could go. Le Cellier, Chefs, Citricos, Artists Point, among many others. I'd recommend selecting a place where you can add a little extra Magic to your meal.

Plan your dinner for a night when the MK has fireworks. Get a reservation at either Narcoossees or California Grill. While I've never eaten at Cali Grill, I'm going to recommend Narcoossee's for the overall atmosphere of the GF resort. If you plan it right, not only will you have a wonderful meal, you'll see incredible fireworks from a great location outside the park, maybe catch the Electrical Water Pageant, and then you can stroll around the relaxing and romantic grounds of the Grand Floridian resort, perhaps sit in the lobby and listen to some music, grab a drink, whatever suits your fancy. Don't just look for a great meal, seek out a great experience. An evening at the GF can be much more than just a nice meal.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE REC's!

Geez, I guess this isn't going to be an easy choice!!!!

We are staying off property. But I want DH and I to have one evening to ourselves while the grandparents babysit.

I am still leaning towards California Grill, the food looks good and the view looks incredible.

They have 7:00 pm and 9:30pm avail. for the California Grill the night I want to go.

I've always wanted to try the California Grill and that picture of the view just won me over! I'd say try and go for the 9:30 time and then you'll be able to watch Wishes!
