A New York City question

I am going to NYC this coming Friday for 5 days. My daughter has tickeys for TRL at MTV on Friday and we have tickets for The View on Monday. We also have theatre tickets to see 'The Boy from Oz' on Saturday night. Apart from that we plan some shopping and sightseeing and lunch with a friend that lives there too.

We have been before, but not in some time. Any suggestions for not to be missed restaurants and anything else we should absolutely see??

Carmine's! It's a great restaurant...there are 2 and you want the one close to Times Square. We ate lunch there and it was great!

I went to see The View in February of 2002. It was a lot of fun! Have a great time!

Jekyll & Hyde on Sixth Avenue around 56th is a fun place to go. The food is very good, and the entertainment is fun.

Mars 2120 (or some number like that) is another fun place to go. There are Aliens walking around the restaurant, and you get to ride a tame motion simulator ride before you eat.

John's Pizzaria on 44th is very good, too. Very reasonable.

Ellen's Stardust Dinner is a fun place to eat. The wait staff takes turns singing for the restaurant and the food is good. I've seen a couple of Broadway stars in there.

Ruby Foo's is also very good. The tempura goat cheese salad is great!

No, I think my daughter applied online a month or so ago and got the confirmation last week for TRL..She has 2 tickets and the minimum age is 16 the maximum 24...hope that helps!!

I must see the Metropolitan Museum of Art -- you can walk across Central Park to the John Lennon memorial - Imagine and see where he lived. We are kind of Beatles fanatics. There is also a cool candy store by the MMA called Dylan's Candy Bar.

Get to the Imagine Memorial as we are staying at The Helmsley Park Lane and that overlooks the park I understand.

I am quite sure we won't get to see it all as I am taking my 17 year old daughter and she just wants to shop!!!

Another vote for Johns Pizzeria on 44th!!! Great food and the building is an old church. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside has beautiful murals and extremely high ceilings. Fun casual place to eat that won't break the bank!!

Also a river tour on a boat that might be of interest? I assume it goes along the Hudson? I thought in the evening after the stores close of course, that this may be nice...

Every visit to NYC for me includes dinner in ChinaTown followed by dessert and coffee in Little Italy. I love walking through those areas =)

Shopping in SoHo is great fun with cool boutique shops!

We also hit Central Park, Times Square of course, Bloomingdales, St Patricks Cathedral, Empire State...

Sounds like fun! I would love to go to a taping sometime! Enjoy the Boy from Oz, I've heard great things =)
