A NEW Politically Correct Haunted Mansion - NO JOKE!!!!!!!!!

I would love to know the exact number of complaints as compared to the total number of riders. My guess is that it is way out of proportion . . . . .

I just saw a report last night on tv that Disney is saying this is just a rumor and there is absolutely no truth to it.

Hey, the last time I was called a "wretched corpse," I went out and got Botox! :rotfl:
:lmao:

Isn't that usually the case when we hear about something like this? And of course, no one will ever know the numbers.

I so hope that this is the true case. Some things just shouldn't be changed. The Haunted Mansion, the way it is, is such a tradition for us. And I'm sure there is a lot of people that feel the same way. After all, look how many years it has worked and is still popular.

oh my gosh.. Jim Hilll maybe got it wrong.. ?? Couldn't be!

Quick - ALERT the media.. ! Oh wait.. someone already did. ;)

Still keeping my wait and see attitude on this one. I suspect there are some small changes for consistency coming -- but nothing as sweeping as JHM indicated would be the case.

Ummm...Jim Hill Media starts a lot of rumours, folks. Take it with a grain of salt.

I agree with this. If anything, people may complain if they DONT get the speils, so knowing Disney and their lust for consistancy, they will probably be requiring some of the phrases.

Who is this Jim Hill person you all talk about? As a newbie here, I'd like to know who I'm calling an idiot! LOL

People are offended by the "blood on the saddle" at CBJ. They are offended by the "scary" monsters on the screen at Sci-Fi. I'm not surprised at all to hear that someone out there is upset by the HM unofficial script.

It seems that it has become much easier to complain than it is to explain to our kids the difference between reality and fantasy/role playing, etc. If something is too scary for Junior, or Junior hears something that may be "offensive" in the eyes of mommy or daddy, then it shouldn't be allowed to exist, right?!?

He's a blogger over at http://jimhillmedia.com/

He does have some great insider information, but he tends to sensationalize things and print his own guesses as fact. He also allows his own biases to skew his reporting. For instance, he was strongly against the Disney/Pixar merger and was insisting for months that "Ratatouille" was a financial failure and was the beginning of the downfall for Pixar. He was finally forced to admit he was wrong, but he didn't do so until several months after the movie became a proven success and he was subject to steady derision by commentors on his site.

I thought I saw a piece on TMZ or The Insider - they showed DisneyLand Mansion and talked about the internet was a buzz at the PC upgrade - but they had a statement from Disney that there was no truth to the rumours!!

That's ridiculous! I don't want to hear the same thing every time I go into the Haunted Mansion. I love how different all the cast members are each time. If these people don't like what they hear in the ride, they should just stay away from it. Why do people like that have to ruin things for everyone else?

Said before, but it bears repeating, kids: some -- certainly not all -- CMs have taken the "act" to an unwelcome extreme. I've seen it (heck, I've even gone to Ad/Lib managers about it), and some of you have seen it.

Do I believe that these antics have prompted guest complaints? Heck yes -- I've been shocked and astonished by some CM behavior I've seen at the HM in recent months.

Do I believe that the CMs, when called out by management, have claimed that they weren't acting rude, but acting "in character?" Again, yes -- some CMs will lie their butts off to management when the fat's in the fire. Very few CMs -- heck, few people, period -- will take responsibility for their actions when called out (and before you say it: of course I don't mean you... but then again, I just might).

Do I believe that a script may, in fact, be implemented for HM CMs? Yes, but I don't think it will be very strongly enforced -- not nearly as much as, say, the Jungle Cruise script is (which is to say: not very). Rather, I think it will exist so when a guest complaint is received, management has a tool to use against the offending CM (i.e. claiming the CM was off-script).

Of course, this is just conjecture and opinion. I could be (and likely am) wrong.

Not to mention that when Disney does add "scripts" to a lot of attractions like this, it's not a word for word script but a collection of acceptable phrases and jokes. Kind of like how the Jungle Cruise or KSR are set up. You may not realize it on KSR, but the drivers only have 2 or 3 "approved" things they can say about each animal.
