A new Points Question about Transfers

Ok, I am trying to figure out our next few vacations and how to use points, etc. Here is my question:

If I want to take a vacation in 2006 and use all of my 2005 points and 2006 so I have zero points left in my account, then what if I have points transferred into my account at a different resort from my home, do I get the 11 month booking window and UY for those points?

I know there is a glitch in the system that if I had my own points, any transferred points would go to my home resort and probably UY, but what if I had no points for that whole year because I had already used them?

Points are supposed to retain their orignal home resort and use year. If you have points transferred into your account from a non-home resort, yes - you can use the 11 month booking window at the resort those points are from.

Because of the glitch and/or inexperienced CMs, you may have to politely insist on it though, when you call for the reservation. (Ask the CM to consult a supervisor if they are unsure how to book the reservation. There are some newer CMs who may not understand/know how to find the original point transfer transaction and then how to make the reservation and get around the "glitch". I think there is some manual work involved but don't know for sure). Anyway, AFAIK, the "glitch" has nothing to do with the number of used/unused points in your account.

FWIW, I hope they get the "glitch" fixed soon, so that transferred points absolutely always retain their original home resort and use year. I don't like to hear about people taking advantage of system problems or CM mistakes/inexperience to get an advantage they otherwise would not be able to get. (I know you are not trying to do this - I am talking about people who use transferred points from a non-home resort to get the booking advantage at their home resort - to me that is taking advantage of other members, even though the system or CMs allow it. JMHO. YMMV).

It's your account and home resort that drive the show. Thus whether you had any points or not at the time of transfer has no meaning.

Carol, it's the system and not the CM that are at fault. The inexperience comes in if they don't know about the glitch or to guide you to force the system to retain the use year and home resort. You mean you wouldn't want me to get relatively cheap transferred points off the rent/trade board and launder them through my BWV contract reserving Xmas and easter Sunday to Friday and renting them on ebay? Just messing with you!!!

Mess with me all you like - Mess with Christmas, Easter, New Year's, President's Day week and all summer, too! Shucks, go ahead and mess with Halloween and Food & Wine time if you must. But don't you be "laundering" any points to reserve standard view rooms during the last week of November through the end of the 2nd week of December! Them are SACRED! Completely, absolutely SACRED!

I'd hate to have to send Mr. Clean after you!
