Mickey called to wake us up about 8:30 so that we could get to Blizzard Beach before it opened. John and I decided that we cared more about the bed than about Blizzard Beach, so the only place we went was back to sleep. We finally got up about 9:30, got dressed, bathed in sunblock, and left. We arrived about 10:30 and the long lines for admission should have told us something, but we paid no attention and headed on.

When we got to the locker rental, we encountered yet another long line. After about 10 minutes, we had a locker and were ready to go. We decided to start off the day with the ski lift up Mt. Gushmore so we could catch it before the line got much longer. We waited about 20 minutes for a rather unexciting ride to the top. My “I should be an imagineer” idea for the day – forget the ski lift and install moving sidewalks or escalators in an “ice tunnel” or something. Much higher capacity and still no stairs!

Anyway, we hopped in line for Teamboat Springs to get us down the mountain. Again, about a 20-30 minute wait to ride. These were the worst lines for the whole trip! When we got started and hit the first bump, Joshua wasn’t holding on and bounced up and into the middle of the raft. John got him and held onto him the rest of the way down. After the initial shock, both boys ended up enjoying the ride. John and I agreed that it was a lot of fun, which is saying a lot for John who doesn’t like water slides. It was surprisingly long and fast, and definitely worth riding.

Our next stop was the Tike’s Peak area. The boys liked the slides, especially the tube ride, but they got bored quickly. There just wasn’t a whole lot to hold their attention. We decided to go for a ride around the lazy river, Cross-country Creek, next. We got Luke a life jacket, and he loved swimming around in it. Joshua also had a life jacket, but was still crying that he was going to “drown.” We found him one of the small kids’ tubes with a solid center instead of a hole and put him in it. After a while he calmed down. By the time we were ¾ of the way around, he stated that he was “having just a little bit of fun.” We all found the highlight to be the “sneezing house.”

When we finished our lap on the creek, we were all tired and hungry and decided to head back to the hotel. It was about 1:00, but we were done. I wanted to ride more of the slides, but I didn’t feel like waiting in lines for them, especially since I was probably the only one that would enjoy them. I think we will wait until the kids are older to try a water park again.

Downtown Disney

We got cleaned up and headed to Downtown Disney for lunch at the House of Blues. It looked like it might rain, and we thought about going back for our panchos, but decided against it. Sure enough, as soon as we turned into the parking lot, the rain started. We headed in anyway and avoided getting very wet.

As it was the middle of the afternoon, we were seated immediately. We opened our menus, and WOW they are expensive! Oh well, we can afford it, plus we get our 10% Disney Club discount. Of course, our card was back in the room on the bed!! We decided we needed to go back for it since we were doing more shopping at the World of Disney and wanted our discount both places. I volunteered to go, and made a flying trip to the resort and back, in less than 30 minutes! By the time I got back, I had earned my meal!

We got the boys chicken nuggets, as they are not very adventurous eaters, and John and I shared jambalaya, cornbread, and asparagus. It was all wonderful. The jambalaya was spicy and flavorful, but not hot. The cornbread was sweet and moist, and the asparagus were perfectly cooked. My only complaint was the pathetic amount of asparagus we got for the money. Overall, it was a good meal, but not one we are likely to repeat.

After dinner, we headed over to Marketplace to spend some more money! We started off in World of Disney and found some really neat stuff. Being the middle of the trip, I was still hesitant about spending a lot, so we just got a few things. When we were checking out, Luke asked the CM if he could see her pins. She told him to go around the counter to look at them, and when he got back there, he made a comment about “now I get to work!” The CM, Amee, let him work the cash register and finish the transaction. He was so excited, and to make it better, she gave him a Magical Moments Certificate for it!

We stopped briefly at Pin Traders, where Luke traded more and John bought some Star Wars pins. Then we headed back to the hotel for supper. After eating, we let the boys play on the playground while we caught up on our trip notes and planned for the next day. After they wore themselves out, we went back to the room, picked up a little, and got to bed early. Tomorrow we got to MGM and return to MK for Spectromagic!
