A new board devoted to exchanges? (Webmasters: Pls read)

Hiya

Could everyone who joins in with the exchanges (even if it is only one every once in a while, or, every single one you can 'get your hands on' ), please post here to well, 'sign the petition' I guess!!

A few people have mentioned how good it would be to have a board devoted to exchanges, and especially considering how many are going on right now... what with all the 'attention' threads, sign up threads and 'sent/received' threads they take up a lot of space... and need bumping often so they don't get lost!!

Our organisers put a lot of work and effort into sorting exchanges out and then have to worry about their messages being seen by the participants! A board devoted to exchanges would make this that much easier for them, and keep exchanges out of the way for DISers/CBers who aren't interested. Surely a benefit for all then?

So PLEASE webmasters, couldn't we have one?

Actually, I don't.
This many exchanges going on is an unusual occurance...........the exchange-athon is keeping it busy.
There ususally aren't more than one or two going and sometimes none.........seems like not much activity to warrant a whole board.

Is there a way to oopen a board temporaily while there is an exchange going??? Or is that too much trouble?

Im on the fence with it. On one hand it would be handy and easy to see what is going on....
yet on the other...
Would it start an exchange frenzy where we have too many going on - and people will eventually get bored/sick of them and stop doing them?

Either way is fine by me - as I only choose the odd exchange here and there anyway. It would make it easier to find the posts though!

Problem is you can't have a board just now and then............there either has to be one or not.
It can't keep changing.

I'm with Nancy on this one. I wouldn't go to a separate board to look for an exchange. I also pick and choose the exchanges that I participate in. There are a lot of exchanges going on right now, and this is not the usual. Also, we have so many boards here now, I would hate for us to create more work for the Webmasters.

As with other things which have been moved off the CB, for whatever reasons, they have all had a short 'shelf life' and a diminished value. The old saying, 'out of sight, out of mind'. I think it best to leave them on the CB.


PS: Gaspode, my posted thought above is probably a reverse vote to get them on a seperate board, LOL. Good luck.

Well perhaps they could be moved to the top of the board until the organizer tells the Webmaster that it is finished and can be removed????? I know when the ornament exchange is going on that would be a huge help especially if the organizer is off the boards for a weekend at a time and has to search through pages (at times) to find the post. Like the "Attention" section or whatever it is called up there.

I don't know... personally I'm tired of all the boards for every possible thing that actually takes place here on the CB. Like Dan said, it would be moved off then have a short "shelf life" and fewer participants. My vote is no for a different board.

I would be less likely to participate, because I would never go to a separate board looking for exchanges. But every once in a while, an exchange on the CB catches my eye.

So, I would vote no for the sake of participation, though it really would help with finding the posts.

Maybe exchange participants could help by posting a link to the exchange in their signatures, making it more visible throughout the CB.

I posted this on another thread but I feel that new DIS'ers would less likely join an exchange if there were a board devoted only for exchanges. When I joined the DIS it was a year before I ventured to the CB.

Perhaps someone (one of the exchange organisers perhaps?) could volunteer to maintain a single thread with links to <i>all</i> the current exchanges, adding and taking them off as needed - an index of sorts. Then they'd all be tidy and easy to find in one place, but still on the CB. Just an idea
