Tim Burton’s Maleficent
January 20th, 2010 by Andy De Maertelaere.
A good Disney movie always has a “good” villain. What would the hero be without them? Just a regular person without a good story. Disney’s classics have had some of the best villains ever created on film and many of them have their own followers and fans (Just like me who just loves Shan Yu, the villain from Mulan. I love it when he “pops” out of the snow).

If the rumor that is slowly spreading on the web is true, Tim Burton thinks it’s time to let the villains tell their side of the story. A new live version of Sleeping Beauty could be his next project where he would tell the story from Maleficent’s point of view.

Sounds pretty amazing to me and something to look forwards too. Let’s hope it’s not just one of those internet rumors that will die a slow death.

I've posted this before on the Imagineering thread.. but Tim Burton and I share a brain... he and I love the same classic stories and have the same weird/bizarre taste.

Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Princess movie, Maleficent is my favorite villain, and I've actually outlined a "Wicked" or "Snow Queen"-esque story for her before.

I'm excited :)

why unless u mean gag in a epic way

all that tim burton does any more is take a ready made story line, goth it up, and throw in a johnny depp/helena carter romance. and thanks, but i've had enough of that crap. i liked him when he..you know.. made up his own characters. but these ready made story lines with the same gothic set over and over and over is getting old and tired. but he's comfortably set in his ways, peddling his wares through hot topics across america. if you've seen one tim burton film, you've seen them all.

If he does not put Johnny Depp and Helena Bohem Carter in this movie, then I was be a happy camper.
I like his movies, but I agree, his style is the same.

. There will be no Johnny but think about how perfect of a role it would be for Carter and plus it is his girl friend

Sounds pretty awesome to me... Kinda like Wicked, I'm guessing?

But Shelby does have a point... Most of Burton's movies ARE "Add some black and red and replace the animated characters with Johnny and Helena. I'm so awesome." So I can see how some people think they're stupid. But I still find them entertaining nonetheless.

You should also see his movies from an artistic point of view. This seems like a great movie!

If it was just about Maleficent, that'd be cool. But you CANNOT cast real people for the disney princesses.

Yeah, his movies are pretty dark so I don't like them. I just freak out at even semi scary things because I'm a wimp. i didn't like the latest christmas Carol much just because it was so dark. I love the Haunted Mansion, but besides that I'm not a fan of scary things. I would like to see what his Malificent would look like though. (And Aurora of course)

Then again, the traditional Dickens' A Christmas Carol was pretty dark...Disney probably wanted a more authentic (as opposed to "cutesy") telling of the tale. I don't know; I liked it.

Maleficent is my favorite Disney villian. Tim Burton better not mess it up.

That would be so awesome!!! I know some of you said malificent/sleeping beauty is your fave. Actually, don't think I've ever seen it! *gasps!*
But those kind of "other side to the story" movies are soo interesting to me! I would loooove to see this movie!
