A Mother's Day Cruise on the Fantasy sandwiched between BCV (Complete 10/12, p.33)

I'm so sorry to hear that :( sending peaceful thoughts and prayers to you and your family

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes
Thank you so very much !

The porthole was great. The size of the room was awesome. Mom says she's fine with just a porthole and that's better for my wallet.

So you didn't feel closed off with no balcony?

I can't wait someday to try those pursettes! Everyone talks about them, I hope that they have them on the Wonder because we have a lot of Wonder cruises coming up. If not at least on the Dream since we have one of those booked!

I saw Corinna answered this, they're definitely on the Wonder.

I'm glad that your mother was happy about the advance warning for Remy and that you both hopefully enjoyed your time there.

I'm excited to share our Remy evening. It went beyond our expectations.

Yes they do keep a dossier on all the guests, but it's very possible that your servers either don't read them or think that they must be mistaken because why would people not drink alcohol on a cruise or eat red meat. Most of these people come from other countries where customs are so different they just might not really "get it" and think that they can be the one to change you.

Probably so. They look at it and think 'this must be wrong' :rotfl:

They definitely look at profiles when choosing tablemates and other things like that. How you got paired up with that group on the cruise with Jenny, I'll never know! :rotfl2:

I'm thinking brcause of Josh's age being similar to the younger tablemates. Quite the story to share though, they aren't forgettable!

So you didn't feel closed off with no balcony?

Not in the least. We've done two cruises with balconies, 1 cruise in an inside, and this was mom's first time with a porthole, my second. We liked all of them, including the inside. I actually prefer not having a balcony, only because it forces us out of the room. We felt guilty leaving the balcony. This way we are out enjoying the ship more.

Sunday, May 11. Day at Sea and Mother’s Day

Today was a day at sea so we didn’t set any alarms and slept in. Mom woke up at 8:30 and me at 9:07. She unpacked until I woke up and then showered. Then I unpacked and put our magnets up. Mom was in desperate need for coffee so went up to Deck 11 while I got ready. I went to find her when I was ready. During our unpacking I had quite the moment of panic. I couldn’t find my ipad anywhere. The last time I had seen it was in the Solarium at the BC. Richard had been so chatty, was it a possibility that I left it behind? A slew of ‘what to dos’ went through my mind. Should we call BC to see if anyone had turned it in. what if they didn’t, then what would I do? Mom calmly asked me if I had put it in the safe the night before. Now that could be! I immediately went to check and it was safely tucked away in the safe. Whew! I must have been quite tired to have forgotten, it was very unlike me.

When I met mom upstairs we headed to Cabanas for breakfast.

We went to eat outside. My plates are closest, mom’s opposite. French toast and a raspberry donut for me. For mom an omelet, fruit, mango yogurt, a chocolate donut, and a piece of French toast.

After our very delicious breakfast we went down to guest services to apply some giftcards. We also got an extra Navigator and planned our attack of the day. There was a 3:30 showing of Bears in the Buena Vista Theater that caught our eye. It was only 11:09 at the time so we decided to head up to Satellite Falls and enjoy the gorgeous weather.

It was super windy so I left mom enjoying the sun and found shelter by the protective wall.

I wrote in my journal for a good two hours and finally caught up. At some point they played all 7 of the ship’s horns. Hearing those horns is such a magical thing.

When I was caught up in the journal I felt the need to go to Remy and confirm mom’s vegetarian meal and ask them about my requirements. I let mom know where I was going and saw two of our tablemates enjoying the water. We chatted a bit, they had been to Palo brunch that morning for Mother’s Day. Oh Palo brunch, how I missed you this trip!

I took some pictures on the way to Remy

The only time you really feel the amount of people on the ship is on sea days

At Remy I talked to the lady at the podium about our reservation. She said mom’s meal was already noted as vegetarian, excellent, and I asked if it was necessary to note my different requirements. She said it was always helpful to note anything from the ordinary and happily put that I’m allergic to crab and don’t eat red meat or poultry.

With my mind at ease I went back and found mom. She had had enough sun and we went in search of some food. We started at the Quiet Cove Café and got some treats.

The one on the left was a macadamia nut/caramel poundcake which mom had, and I had a chocolate chip/brownie cookie. Both of these were fabulous!

Then for some heartier food items. Mom had a veggie burger and fries.

And I had a salad and a slice of thin pizza

After our very delicious lunch we headed down to the movie. Bears was simply fantastic, very well done. This is the hallway just outside the theater.

Then we decided a walk around the Promenade was in order.

This mom loves posing :)

There was a guy who passed us at least four times while we were walking quite slowly. We were not up to more than one lap… :rotfl:

Back inside to the glorious airconditioning.

I'm just curious I guess as I love sitting on the balcony in our rooms at WDW & either read, take in view or people watch. You are right, I'm sure that no balcony forces you out to explore! The chairs on that sun deck look so relaxing, I'd give just about anything to be sitting there right now to relax & decompress! I'm in dire need of a vacation!

Oh how I love Cabanas! The atmosphere and food is just the best. It's the best hobbits second and third breakfast lol. Love the donuts! Cove Cafe lovely.

How nice to walk around the promenade. I seem to get my timings wrong with that! Always blocked off men in white uniforms painting or washing things! Have to cut through the ship oh my those doors inside are heavy!

Lovely to catch a movie. Love that theatre. Yummy lunch how nice they do vege burger. Does Mom ever read your TR?

Glad you got the vegetarian dinner all confirmed. I just know its going to be wonderful and I can't stand the suspense. :rotfl:

So how was that veggie burger? I actually like veggie burgers but there seems to be such variability in what's actually IN a veggie burger that it always makes me nervous to order one. :rotfl2:

Glorious weather! :goodvibes

If you love sitting out on the balcony then I would get a verandah cabin.

When is your next vacation? Do you have anything planned?

All the options are just fantastic!

They always seem to be working don't they! They thwarted some plans later in the cruise.

Lovely to catch a movie. Love that theatre.

Love that theater, love that they have movies the whole cruise.

She doesn't but I think I'll show her this one. She hasn't seen any of my pictures from this trip. And the commentary will help her remember what we did.

The next update is dinner :) I'll try to get it up soon but I want to do it justice.

Mom says these veggie burgers are very delicious. She gets them several times each cruise. They also have them at the Serenity Bay BBQ but you have to ask for them. It's not just a protein patty, it has lots of veggies in it.

Glorious weather! :goodvibes

It was gorgeous and hot!

That's too funny that your DM didn't see the Remy card...glad she was onboard with it when you told her! Can't wait to hear all about dinner.

That would be awesome!!! Did he call and see if you can move the reservation? Prices keep going up, if you could move it now and lock in a price it might be good. You can still move it if the dates don't work.

Nope we haven't called yet :sad2: Everytime we get ready to sit down and look at dates, something comes up. Hopefully we can do it sometime this week as it's only going to get crazier the next month.

So funny that you mom was totally oblivious to the Remy card. And it was probably the best idea that you told her the night before so she could think about it all the next day:thumbsup2 I'm really looking forward to hearing about your experience there!

I bet you were just panicking when you couldn't find your iPad right away. Love that our moms are there to calm us in those moments. We all went to Monterey this last week and when we were heading into dinner, I couldn't find my camera. I had just used it at a park to take pics of Calvin and was starting to panic, because I needed that camera for the Aquarium the next day. DM had suggested looking in between the seats in the car (you know, that pesky gap in between the seat and the center console) and it was lodged in there :thumbsup2

Is there a reason you didn't do Palo Brunch on this cruise?

She was really excited about it when I explained. It was an awesome experience, very special and very delicious.

You guys have been busy!!!

She really liked being able to look forward to it all day. Yours was the first Remy experience I read, I'm excited to share :) I want to do it justice with all the details so it will probably be a few days.

Whew! The moms win the level headed award this time! I really was starting to panic because it wasn't in the backpack where I thought I left it. I was quick to put all the important stuff in the safe and totally forgot about the ipad.

Is there a reason you didn't do Palo Brunch on this cruise?

It wasn't available :( I was going to check about a reservation on day 1 but mom said she was ok to miss it. I however really missed it. Not next time, no ma'm, we're going to brunch!

What a fun trip so far!! Just love, love DCL.:thumbsup2

My mom (and dad, too!) and I might end up on a cruise next February, over my birthday. It looks like you and your mom are having a great time! :cheer2:

Ahhhh that wonderful pizza! The salad looks delicious too. :thumbsup2

Great photos of the walking area, next cruise, we've got to do that. Need to offset the copious amounts of amazing pizza.

The ship looks huge! How much bigger is it than the little Wonder I wonder?

Cute photogenic mama. Joshua says: she looks nice like Pam-ella. Did you get the pic I sent you yesterday? Little skinny kid with the CC hat on? :rotfl:

Glad your dinner mates didn't mind you taking food pics. We live on those! :cool1:

I can so understand your panic when you could not find your iPad. I would be lost without it.

I enjoyed all the photos from around the ship. Looks like some of the walking/ jogging trail is even tighter on the Fantasy than this is the case on the classic ships. That must be a real nightmare when runners try to pass walkers.

Hi there! :wave2: Welcome :)

Mom and I have such a fun time together, two big kids. I hope you're able to go for your birthday :)

I hope I'm remembering this correctly but was it your 10th trip to WDW TR that I was reading? Did you ever finish that?
