A Mother's Day Cruise on the Fantasy sandwiched between BCV (Complete 10/12, p.33)

What a shame that it was a bit chilly and that it rained on your Castaway Cay day. I don't think I have ever seen such a long line for lunch either. The minigolf looks like really good fun. Do you know if they have this on the Dream, too?

Yes, they have the mini golf on the Dream too. It was really cute and fun.

The weather was a bit of a bummer but we still had a fabulous day. Next year we MUST go down those slides though. We'll be doing a B2B so will have two tries.

We finished up packing and headed down to dinner. Lilo and Stitch was playing while we packed. We had wanted to go see the family ventriloquist show but missed it due to packing. We found out at dinner that there were terribly unruly kids that even went up onstage during the show and the CMs did not do anything. We were both glad we missed it after hearing that.

Walking through the atrium we saw cruise director Ray again. I went and wished him a happy vacation and he gave me a big hug. So nice! I hope we get to sail with him in the future.

Our last dinner was back at Royal Court. The gang was already there and I got stuck next to the negative nelly. I asked mom later if she did that on purpose, her reply was ‘yep’…. The two mystery tablemates never showed up which was totally bizarre. The food was only ok tonight, but the conversation made up for it.

For starters mom and I both had the goat cheese and potato napoleon. This has become one of my favorite appetizers on the ships.

I think mom had a market salad

And I had an edamame and cabbage salad, which really needs dressing and I couldn’t for the life of me get our servers’ attention for ages.

Mom had a hard time choosing an entrée so I suggested something she had liked last time, a mushroom, spinach, tofu, and onion phyllo wrapped thing but this time she said it was waaaayyyyy too salty. She should have asked for something else.

I had the seafood pasta without the seafood which was good but much too big a portion

For dessert mom had her usual

And I had an apple pie with icecream, the icecream was the best part.

Our tablemates got into the spirit and offered me a picture of their baked Alaska

They were all quite curious of my picture taking during dinner the entire cruise. I told them about blogging and they were even more curious. It was nearing 10:00 so we quickly said our goodbyes and went upstairs to put out our suitcases. Mom got distracted by the shops, she’d been eyeing a skirt all week and wanted to look at it again. I promised her we’d be back after putting out the suitcases. We happened to see the Buckets and Boards guys talking to some people in the hallway so we told them how much we liked their show. They said thanks but it was actually their twins onstage and they’re both up in the room. Too funny!

Up in the room we saw our last towel animal.

I quickly took down the door magnets and put them in the suitcase, I hate to do that any earlier than necessary. Suitcases out we went down to the shops as promised. Mom tried the skirt on and liked it so much she wanted to wear it out of the store…

And then wanted her picture taken

A very nice fellow guest saw me taking her picture and offered to take one of both of us. I’m glad he did because I don’t think there’s many of us together on this trip.

We missed the See Ya Real Soon party because of buying the skirt so we just headed back to the room. We stopped and got a few trinkets at one of the other stores, a keychain and magnet for me, and a postcard for mom. Then up to the room where this very naked door greeted us.

We turned on Mulan, which I’ll admit has never been one of my favorites but I thoroughly enjoyed it this time. I caught up in the journal and we went to sleep shortly before midnight. We had second dinner so we had second breakfast in the morning, back in Royal Court. We like to postpone the cruise ending as long as possible so we’ve always done the sit down breakfast on the last day.

We weren't too sad, we’d be going back to WDW in the morning!

What a shame that dinner was just OK. The Potato and Goats Cheese Napoleon is one of my favourite appetizers as well. I really like your mom's skirt. I can understand that she wanted to wear this straightaway. The photo of the two of you has come out really well.

That potato and got cheese Napoleon is sooo good!

We have both discovered we prefer the buffet meals more only because we can make exactly what we want. But we also really enjoy chatting with the tablemates at dinner. I'm going to attempt to ask for different things next cruise, they're usually so accommodating I don't think it should be too big a problem. We shall see.

She loves that skirt, it was a good buy.

Thank you about the picture :)

Fabulous update!

CC is just gorgeous even with the dark sky. :thumbsup2 Lunch on SB is different than the family beach right? The fruit looks amazing. I remember the pineapple on the ship being the best I've ever had. :lovestruc

Dinner looks delicious especially your appetizer. Wow!

Mini gold looks fun too. Joshua would love that.

Will the refillable popcorn bucket, can you bring it and use it every cruise?

Cute pic of you and your mom. :goodvibes

Cute!!!!!!

Sounds like a lovely last day on the cruise even though the weather did not fully cooperate. I guess that's why the line for lunch was so long. :confused3 Lunch on CC really does look yummy!

I really want to do the 5K on CC so I have to make sure I watch the adult beverages the day before. :rotfl2:

Yay for heading back to WDW where I know you have at least one DIS meet planned. ;)

whats your secret to getting soo many shampoos and conditioners from your state room host? Do you hand them some cash at the beginning of the cruise and ask for them to be brought often? When I was on the magic I had to practically beg our host to bring more..there was four of us and we kept running out!

The CC pics with the storm clouds make the water look so dreamy:lovestruc

Lunch is different at SB, I have food pictures of the offerings from our trip. I love being able to make a sandwich with the delicious bread they have there.

I don't know about the popcorn bucket but I'm going to try! popcorn::

Mini golf is cute, not long though. But a fun activity all the same.

Oh yes, that pineapple! :)

I thought for sure you had that appetizer on our cruise? It was awesome, I need a repeat!

Cute!!!!!!

Thanks :goodvibes

We still had a fabulous day, the weather was just amusing. One of the CMs said there were a lot of adult only parties on that cruise so it just made things more crowded at lunch. There are two other much bigger places to get food at the family beaches. We just prefer the offerings at Serenity Bay more.

I really want to do the 5K on CC so I have to make sure I watch the adult beverages the day before. :rotfl2:

I think you have to sign up at guest services and meet in the theater first thing. You'll get a nice running tour of the island. Speaking of adult beverages, I can't remember if you're a fan of frozen ones but you must try the Konk Kooler. Its a pina colada with passion fruit or guava added, beyond delicious!!!

Yay for heading back to WDW where I know you have at least one DIS meet planned. ;)

Yes indeed!!! :)

I have very long hair and ask them in the beginning if we can have extra. No money up front, but always a generous tip at the end. A smile and thank you do wonders. Not saying you don't do that but we don't do anything special.

Love that CC!!!

Great update Pam! CC is bitter sweet. Highlight for me but nearly always signals the penultimate day of the cruise!

We always get plenty of h2o products also. We just ask nicely on day one. Last year they even gave us sun gel from conceirge :-) my advice smile sweetly!

I always find the beverage stations open at the buffet all day long. I just help myself!

SB looks nice same about moaner. Seriously though what could you possibly find to moan about on Disney private island? That's an artform right there lol.

That mini golf looks too cute! I was rolling about laughing at the fish popping out the bucket and the octopus was it? And shark fin lol.

We have to seriously get our act together on that popcorn deal!

I love the bread basket in Royal Table. I try to take a photo of it every time filled with bread. But Jo quickly eats it. Too slow! It's so pretty in the shape of Cinderella's carriage. Those photos of you both are lovely. I think that might be Mom's new skirt in that DCL bag!

I know, but I love CC so much I don't think about it being the end.

That's our strategy too :)

That's what I've found too but in March and May the CMs closed them down when they closed the buffets.

Absolute ridiculousness I tell you. But what really got me was that she was so full she didn't want to go to Remy, but she went to get a cheeseburger...

Aren't those details fabulous! I love them!

I was terrible with restaurant pictures this cruise. Have to have your camera poised and ready next time!

Her new skirt is on her body, she didn't want to change back

Sounds like a great last day on the ship! Too bad the wear wasn't cooperating. Crazy about the lines there and people waiting in the pouring rain!

People are such idiots, I think negative people just feed off of their negativity. Nothing you can do to change them. Thats nice your mom got a skirt that she likes so much. How nice you are heading back to WDW!

I love Castaway Cay but hate when its the last day. Last year I sailed the Dream and we had the sea day after Castaway Cay which made packing and winding down the cruise a little easier.

It was too funny seeing people waiting in the rain. Its not like the food was going anywhere, and after a week on a cruise nobody could be on the brink of starvation...

You're exactly right, I just hate listening to it on vacation. I hear enough of it at work.

Thats nice your mom got a skirt that she likes so much.

I'm glad she liked it, and its very flattering. A good buy all around.

How nice you are heading back to WDW!

I had a transatlantic booked that would be going on right now but had to cancel due to finances. I still had vacation time and points so still needed to go somewhere. I knew Paula and Jo would be down there and wanted to see them again so we'll be overlapping trips. And I might even see Cynthia for a fly by hug. Two weeks til trip time!!!

I have found the only cure for post cruise blues is to be going somewhere after the cruise. :)

I like the idea of a sea day as the last day. I bet that's very relaxing.

What are your post cruise plans? Will you be at WDW?

I'm flying straight home. I'm spending a couple of days in San Juan ahead of time though.

Ok, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing planning a potential meet with you :)

San Juan is beautiful, what are you planning?

San Juan is beautiful, what are you planning?

I'm doing a Segway tour out to the forts on Thursday and then a walking food tour Thursday evening. On Friday, I'm renting a car and my friend and I are going to the rainforest and doing a Bio Bay tour.
