A Mother-Daughter Trip! Now with BONUS BIRTHDAY Trip! (Final Thoughts Coming Soon!)

Sounds like a lovely afternoon!

Can't wait to hear about the party. But, the near drowning has me anxious!

Yikes - replies later, but wanted to assure everyone that it only FELT like a near drowning. No one was in any danger except of being really annoyed haha And I was the "victim." I hope I didn't scare anyone!

Thank goodness it wasn't a real near drowning! I can rest easier until the next update now. :goodvibes

Phew  OK then...thanks for that :goodvibes BTW I am almost changed back to BC :rotfl:

What a lovely relaxing morning! It must have felt so good to sleep in!

Oh, and I'm with Willow, Chocolate milk is my go-to breakfast beverage at WDW! :thumbsup2

Just read through your whole report and really enjoying hearing about your trip. Your daughter is adorable and it sounds like such a special trip to share with each other. Can't wait to read more!

Okay, first, I am so sorry to anyone I managed to freak out with my next update's title! :scared1: I kind of figured no one really reads the title of the next update. OOPS!!! Anyway, again, don't worry - it is actually a funny, albeit horribly annoying, story.

Oh my gosh, that cheese danish looks AMAZING!! And yes, we are super excited to be going in 2.5 weeks...I started my very first (pre)Trip Report here: World Showcase or Bust!

You have a trip coming soon too- Disneyland is on my bucket list...would love to see where the Magic began!
Mmmm - the danish was delish!

I can't believe you have a trip so soon - jealous!!! I will try to pop over to check out your PTR. :woohoo:

Sounds like a lovely day!

I don't like the sound of a near drowning though!
It was a great and relaxing way to spend the day. So sorry about the update title!

Thank goodness it wasn't a real near drowning! I can rest easier until the next update now. :goodvibes

Phew  OK then...thanks for that :goodvibes BTW I am almost changed back to BC :rotfl:
No, you aren't!!!!!! :rotfl2: I am dying. And I think I am lost again. Last I heard you were at WL. But I thought I just say a Poly ticker in your signature. Am I crazy???? Shall I just stop checking your ticker until you are actually ON the trip?? :rotfl2:

What a lovely relaxing morning! It must have felt so good to sleep in!

Oh, and I'm with Willow, Chocolate milk is my go-to breakfast beverage at WDW! :thumbsup2
Sleeping in felt amazing after all those early days! It also set us up nicely to survive a very late night. ;)

Just read through your whole report and really enjoying hearing about your trip. Your daughter is adorable and it sounds like such a special trip to share with each other. Can't wait to read more!
Thanks for joining in! We really did have a wonderful time together - there is something about being in WDW that takes away all the normal stressors of life and lets us just enjoy being together. Hope to have a new update done very soon - hopefully tonight.

26. Some Pre-Party Meetings and a Near Drowning

When I last left off, we were waiting for the bus to the MK! And we didn’t have to wait long.
1d1f1925.jpg

We got to the MK a little before 4:00. We got our MNSSHP wrist bands and headed in! Now, this was our fifth day, and we hadn’t met Mickey yet! So we made a detour to the new Town Square Theater meet-and-greet spot where the posted wait time to see Mickey and Minnie was a whopping 5 minutes. It was deserted in there.

Soon we were meeting The Mouse and Minnie. This was a wonderful meet-and-greet. The characters really spent some quality time with us. Minnie danced with DD, and Mickey gave me a kiss. Really a fun time!

[cont. from previous post]

When we left our Mouse Meeting, we noticed that the posted wait time for the princesses was only 10 minutes. DD just HAD to meet them. Again. I told her that it would be princesses she had already met and that we would come back during the party when the princes would be there, but she had not yet had enough Princess Time apparently because we got in the short line. DD was super-excited!

She met Princess Aurora again.

And Belle again.

And Cinderella again.

All of the princesses were very sweet as usual. A CM mentioned that Cinderella and Prince Charming, Snow White and Prince No Name, and Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder would all be there during the party, so obviously, we would be back!

As we were leaving the princess meet-and-greet, we of course entered a shop. We were looking at DD’s autograph book and noticed that she only had two or three pages left! :scared1: So we decided that we had better get a second autograph book. DD picked one out and we went up to pay. The CM at the register heard us talking together about how she had already filled one book, and he looked at her and said, “Wow! That is amazing. This one’s on the Mouse!” SO cool!

It was a beautiful afternoon!

Next we stopped at Le Chapeau for new 2011 ears for DD. She chose some really cute ones - they have a little pillow on top with a glass slipper sitting on it.

At this point, DD was more than ready for a little BTMRR! So we headed down Main Street.

We were able to ride twice in a row with virtually no wait.

And then DD gave me a shock. She said she wanted to ride Splash Mountain. I told her no because I had gotten really wet last time and didn’t want to be wet for the party; she had been quite clear before that she did not want to do that ride again, so I hadn’t bothered to lug the ponchos with me. She kept begging and begging, and finally, I couldn’t stand it anymore and gave in - great parenting there. But I kept thinking of all the TRs I’ve read where people posted pics after riding Splash, and no one was wet. I figured we had just been unlucky last time. So we got in line.

And then it happened - I saw the CM directing us to the log, I saw that it was the front row, and I was struck dumb. Why didn’t I say, “no, we’ll wait for another log”? Why didn’t I run far, far away??? I don’t know. But for some reason, we got in that log. And soon after, I nearly drowned. I was DRENCHED. I don’t mean a little wet, I don’t mean my hair got ruined, I don’t mean that my mascara ran a little. I mean I was completely soaked - head to toe. I would not have been any more wet had I jumped into a lake. I was so wet that, had I been able to find a store selling a complete outfit right then and there, I would have purchased it along with a blow dryer and make-up. This was NOT a good way to be spending the party. (I ended up being totally wet through most of the evening - not pleasant, but after my initial melt-down, I didn’t let it ruin the party for me or for DD - I am rather proud of myself for that because I SO could have let it ruin my night.)

Up next: 27. Some Fantasyland and MNSSHP Fun

Great update!

Seems like y'all got some great time Mickey & Minnie. I can't believe the low wait time for them & the princesses.

That's so sweet that the CM gave her the autograph book. Gotta love that Disney magic! :goodvibes

I love, love, love her new ears!!! Those are adorable. I don't think I had seen those before. Of course, I'm always looking at the boy ears.

That was awesome getting to ride BTMRR 2x in a row. Not so awesome getting drenched on Splash Mtn. :sad2: I can only imagine how miserable you were. Good for you for being a trooper & just continuing right along to enjoy the evening! :thumbsup2

I love your DD's Tiana dress- so pretty! I have heard lots of good things about the new Mouse meet and greet area- I hope I can get the hubby to agree, he is not always crazy about meeting the characters but I love the pictures and they are always so much fun! If the line is short like that I can probably convince him! :-)

I was just looking at "ears" online last night and I fell in love with the same glass slipper ones your DD picked out! They are so princess-y! princess:

Sorry you got soaked on SM!

I am so sorry that you got soaked! I would have been miserable!

Excited to find out if you met all the princes too, my DD would be over the moon!

Yes, we loved the new meet-and-greet! I don't think anyone realizes it's there!

The autograph book was one of my favorite moments of the trip. It was just so unexpected and sweet. :cloud9:

The ears are way cute! At the end of the TR, I will post some close-up pictures of them and maybe some of the other souvenirs we bought. ;)

Good luck with the meet-and-greet! I hope you have lines as short as ours - there's no way your DH can pass that up!!! :thumbsup2

I hope to see some TR pics of you with your new ears! ;)

I'm guessing you have a pretty good idea whether we made it to that meet-and-greet. ;)

:rotfl2: It is awesome that your pre-trip planning is so entertaining! :rotfl2: Have you done a split stay before? I am always curious when I read about those. It sounds just awful to me to have to pack everything up halfway through and then unpack again and then repack again. But maybe it's worth it to try out more resorts? That side of it is very tempting..... Hmmmmmmmm

I'm with your DD - I don't think anyone will get me on Splash again. :sad2:

The autograph book moment was just so cool!

Okay, so a few Disney planning ramblings. I know you will all understand. ;)

First, something I'm really excited about! I called this week and ordered "Mickey's Birthday Wish" for DD. When we get to the Disneyland Hotel and make our way to our room, we will find a big "surprise" banner on our door. When we go in, Mickey's yellow footprints will be on the floor, there will be a balloon bouquet, a Happy Birthday banner, and a box of presents (autograph book, pen, candy, Hidden Mickey book, etc.). I think DD is going to LOVE it!!! :woohoo:

Second, something that is making me a little :sad1:. As you know, we are going on the Disney Alaska cruise this summer. I am NOT sad about that! I have to pay for that by April. No problem, but with all the turmoil with DD's school, I lost an entire month's child care cost (they only refunded 1/6 of the month that she spent 2 days there) and the new school is WAY more expensive. Totally worth it. But I'm starting to think that we probably aren't going to be able to do a Disney trip in 2013. :sad1: Obviously, things could easily change between now and then, but at the very least, I can't enjoy the :woohoo: of spending the next 12+ months planning a trip. Boo. I know there are worse things - much worse things - but man, I love having a trip pending!

I guess I will just have to talk someone else into taking a trip so that I can plan it for them. I'm thinking my boss is a good candidate - I planned her 2010 trip, and she is totally hooked.

And that is all my musings for tonight. :dance3:

Your DD is going to be surprised with all of those birthday goodies! :goodvibes That is just awesome!

As for no trip in 2013....I know how hard it is not to have that pending trip. And if you can't find someone to plan a trip for, at least you always have everyone here to come & talk to about Disney. But, like you said, you never know what'll happen between now & then. This past October, we already had our Dec. 2012 trip booked to stay at Contemporary in the tower. Then, unexpectedly, my DH lost his job. Thankfully, he found something else quickly. But, we were thinking we had to downgrade & did so to POFQ. Well, much ado later, we've been able to switch back to CR. So, you never know....all it takes is faith, trust & pixie dust! pixiedust:

We did a few split stays, only one at WDW and it was easy...bell services took care of the luggage, and I checked in at the new resort, went to the parks..and all was good! And I might even have more fun planning than the trip itself :rotfl:

You sound like me...I have to have SOMETHING to plan :lmao: DL has such great Birthday stuff...it's why I really wanted to take DD7 in Sept but DH has no interest in DL...gotta keep working on him

i have enjoyed reading your trip report. We are going around that time this year, so it was a great read on how things went for you. Your daughter is adorable and she looked so cute like a princess. Have fun on your next trip
