A mommy, a daddy and 3 little princes...a dining review

I am LOVING your reviews. We are doing Kona in just two weeks for breakfast for the first time and cannot wait.

Another great review! :) We really enjoyed our meal at California Grill. I can't wait to go back and have the spicy kazan roll again.

So glad you enjoyed your meal at CG

The Sushi and Flatbread look delicious :cloud9:

Joining in a bit later. We also had a great meal at Cali but were seated on the other side of the restaurant. Some day I hope to have some pixie dust and get a window table!

Great reviews so far ... looking forward to the rest.

We started off with breakfast in the room and then headed to Epcot. Again was another slow day so we hoped on on favourite rides. Before we knew it it was lunch time at Le Cellier.

We have been to Le Cellier quite a few times and really enjoyed it so we wanted to go back. Once they changed this to a signature dinner I knew I would only go for lunch.

We headed to the restaurant a bit early hoping we would be able to get in. We did end up waiting about 15 min but still got in early. Once we waited about 5 minutes before our waitress finally came over. She came over introduced herself and took our order, we knew exactly what we wanted.

Soon after came the bread. I just realized I didnt take a picture but it was different from the last couple times we had been there and I remember enjoying it more back then.

Both DH and I ordered the Mushroom Fillet with risotto.
299.jpg

We had both ordered this before and for some reason we didn't enjoy the risotto the first time so the second we ordered the mashed potatoes which we loved. This trip, since we have become bigger fans of risotto we thought we would give it a try, and boy were we glad we did. It was amazing. The steak was perfectly cooked and the risotto complimented it very well.

We ordered YDS some Cheddar cheese soup.

.

I must admit I did take a couple spoons after he decided he was done and it was good.

ODS ordered the pasta

301.jpg

He ate it all up so it must have been good but it would be pretty hard to mess up pasta with tomato sauce.

MDS got the grilled chicken breast with fries
300.jpg

Although he was eating chicken and fries again... I was goo glad to see grilled chicken and it was a nice size breast.

For dessert both boys got the ice cream

304.jpg

The both loved being able to put on their toppings.

DH got the Chocolate Whiskey cake

302.jpg

I did not try it but he really enjoyed it and said he would go back just for that.

I got the Maple Creme Brulee
303.jpg

I really enjoy this creme brulee because it has a subtle maple taste but enough that it stands out. My biggest pet peeve with creme brulee is when the burnt sugar is not done right. There has to be enough sugar and it has to be melted enough that there is a crack when you break into it and Le Cellier got it right.

Service: One disappointment with this visit was the service. The waitress seemed to be out of it. She did not share any history or explain the bread like we heard from the other servers around us. She also just came when she absolutely needed too.

Food: This was once again one of our favourite meals. I always order the same thing and it tastes the same everytime. We will continue to go back.

Overall: This was another great visit and the only thing that left a sour taste in my mouth was the service but she may have been having a bad day and everyone is entitled to those.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I was able to snag an ADR at LeCellier late last week for our last night at Epcot. I really wanted lunch, but I grabbed what I could get (I know I can't get the cream cheese mashed potatos at dinner, but I'll suffer).

I'm so glad to see that your DH got the Chocolate Whiskey Cake (I was wondering if it was still on the menu) and that he liked it. I think it is heavenly. :worship::worship:

For dinner we headed over to Via Napoli. I was super excited about trying this since I had read some great reviews but boy did it disappoint.

Once we were seated our waiter Alessio came over to take our order. He was very difficult to understand and language was definately a barrier. Once we finally ordered it took awhile for our drinks to come out and then even longer for our meals.

I also noticed that most tables where getting bread with olive oil. Now I don't know if that had to be ordered but this was the first place that we didn't get break with our meal.

About 30 min later our meals finally came out.

DH got the Piccante pizza

311.jpg

He said it was ok but nothing special. He was originally looking at just building his own pizza but once he found out each topping would be $2 he opted out.

I got the Seafood linguine
310.jpg

This tasted ok. Definately not anything special but I actually found for an italian restaurant this was a rather small portion, it was enough for me though. My only issue with this meal was that I felt sick all night after eating here so I'm thinking maybe the seafood was not very fresh?

ODS got the pepporoni pizza
312.jpg

This was a pretty decent size for a kids meal and he enjoyed it.

MDS got the Calzoncino.
313.jpg

My picky eater loved this and it was a nice change for him.

For dessert DH and I both got the tiramisu
316.jpg

I was very disappointed with this. I was expecting to have the best tiramisu ever but I did not. The lady fingers were dry, no coffee flavor and the mascarpone mixture tasted like whipped cream. I am not italian and I have made better tiramisu.

Both boys got the ice cream sandwich
317.jpg

The barely touched this. There was alot of whipped cream and a bit of ice cream.

Service: This was by far the worst service we have ever received at a Disney restaurant. Our waiter who was not very busy was barely around if we needed anything but we did see him joking around with co-workers. Our meal it a long time to get to our table as did the dessert but even more we waited over 10min for the bill and then another 10 for him to come get our card. Now if they were busy I could understand but they weren't the place had tons of empty tables. I also witnessed a busboy going over to a waitress to show her what tip she got. Not sure if it was good or bad but they were laughing about it which is very unprofessional. There was only one person there that I saw actually busting their *** off while the other seemed very laid back and had a certain arrogance to them.

Food: I found the food to be mediocre and the fact that I felt sick afterwards definately didn't help.

Overall: This was by far our worst meal and we will not be back. I felt like they were penny pitching with the extra charges for the toppings and the no bread. Now I know most pizza places do charge for extra toppings but I thought it was crazy that only cheese and sauce came on it and $2 seems excessive.
I cannot even give this restaurant one thumb up because it was that disappointing.

Yay for the lucky snag!

I didn't realize you couldnt get the mashed at dinner but give the risotto a whirl.. it was great!

He really enjoyed that cake which surprised me because it just looked like a good ol' chocolate cake but I guess I was wrong. I will have to try it next time.

Boy, am I glad we cancelled Via Napoli. I mainly cancelled because me and pizza/red sauces haven't been getting along lately, but the menu was not all that appealing to my DH after he reviewed it again.

I'm sorry you had such a poor experience.

Thank you. I was soo disappointed because they have been getting rave reviews.

Thanks for the review of Le Cellier! Now I am really regretting cancelling our resie in August for lunch. That was the 3rd resie I snagged and cancelled. Guess 4th time will be the charm?

Sorry the service and food at Via Napoli were substandard. They don't give you bread?

Sorry to hear about your experience at Via Napoli. I completely agree about the penny pinching (we were told it would be an extra charge for well done pizza!) but our food was pretty good and our server almost smothering (although also very hard to understand). This place seems to be so hit and miss. Reviews of people loving it one trip and then hating it the next and vice versa. We had a decent meal so maybe I shouldn't press my luck and try it again!

Definately give it a go. We really enjoy it. No, no bread. I don't know if you only get it if your order appys?

Glad you had a good meal there. Like any restaurant it can definately be hit and miss and unfortunately our first experience was a miss. DH is not usually one to complain about restaurants and he usually has no interest or care to know what I book about he said he never will go there again.

I am so sorry you didnt care for VN...we have been there 5 or 6 times and had just one bad meal there

This place is a must do for DH because of the pizza...for me its the sauce, yum!

Did you notice if the outside pizza window was open? We are hoping it is open next month, the pizza is different, huge thick Sicilian which I love :thumbsup2

No I'm sorry I did not notice. DH loves pizza but says he's had way better:confused3

Outside pizza window? Does outside mean open to people on the World showcase promanade, or just the location of the oven? My husband loves Sicillian!

I feel really bad for the OP, really, I do.:grouphug: But, Kathy, I do wish you'd reconsider your decision to skip Via Napoli. First of all, when I started developing my shell fish allergy I had symptoms very similar to the OP (happened two years in a row at WDW). Secondly, if you are avoiding red sauces, I wanted to say we ordered the Quattro Formaggi - mozzarella, parmesan, fontina, provolone...and this pizza had no red sauce. We were moaning with every bite! We loved the family salad. After 26 trips to the world and more meals than I could count, this meal is FIRST on our family's priority list next year--we already have it reserved twice! Please go read the reviews on Allears.net. They are so overwhelmingly positive.

We started off the day with breakfast at Chef Mickeys. Alot of people are disappointed with the food here but for me breakfast is pretty hard to mess up and therefore do not have an issue. We also mainly go there for the characters not the food.

Therefore, these are the kinds of pictures that I have....

337.jpg

336.jpg

The good was decent, they had the breakfast staples along with some quiches, breakfast pizzas, hashes, and of course the mickey waffles.

We always go to Chef Mickeys because nothing beats having breakfast with the fab 5!

After breakfast we headed to the Magic Kingdom. It was a beautiful day nice and sunny so we stopped for a snack.

I absolutely love these! The dark chocate is soo yummy and the ice cream is creamy a must do!

For dinner we headed to O'Hana. We have never been there as we had been unable to get a reservation. Since I made our ADR's 6mths out we go in :)

Once our buzzer went off we went up to the podium where the hostess greeted us and grabbed our bread which I don't seem to have a picture of. The bread was ok but once we had it on our table for a couple minutes and it was no longer warm it did turn a but hard.

Our "Cousin" Ed came over and told us how it would work. Within minutes Cousin Cliff came over and introduced himself and brought us some salad
413.jpg

I wasn't sure how this would taste because honey lime dressing didn't sound that great but it was. We all really enjoyed it.
Cliff then brought the dips/sauces
414.jpg

I didn't use any of them but DH tried the peanut one and enjoyed it.

They were coming around very quickly with the skewers. I got some chicken, steak and the shrimp.

I really enjoyed the shrimp but they were a bit hard to peel. The chicken was good and I enjoyed the sauce that it was marinated in. The steak was great, the sauce on it was very tasty. My second round of steak was not as good though because it was an end piece and it was cooked well done.

Shortly after we got the wings and potsickers.
415.jpg

By the time these rolled around we were almost full. I did try them though. The wings were very big and they were good. The potsickers were very good. I wish I had more room to eat them. They were ODS's favourite.

Shortly after again they brought the noodles and brocolli. I had a bit of the noodles and they were ok.

Then came dessert.

The kids got this:
425.jpg

I'm not really sure why they didn't just get the same dessert but they enjoyed it especially sprinkled with all the mickey's.

And we got the 'Ohana bread pudding a la mode with Banana Foster sauce
426.jpg

This was soo good. The warm bread pudding with the ice cream and then the banana foster sauce... pure heaven.

Service: The service started very well with all the cousin coming around to look after us and bringing tons of the skewers but I really wish they started with bringing the appys and then sides with the meats so we could have enjoyed them together. Also, towards the end of the meal we waited a little bit for the dessert and even longer for the bill. It seemed they tried to keep tables on the same schedule i.e bring dessert, give the the bills ect but it makes it hard if some are taking longer then the others.

Food: The food here was very good. We enjoyed everything. DH claimed this the best meal of the trip and a must do from here on out.

Overall: I was very pleased with O'Hana. I especially love the music and the games that they have for the kids.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
