Usual first morning... Wake up early, very early. Struggle to doze for another hour or two. Eventually giving up at 6.30.

For some strange reason, I was convinced AK opens earlier than other parks. Hence, we pulled into an almost deserted car park at 8am!

At least we were at the front of the queue when it opened an hour later. Mickey, Minnie and Goofy greeted the guests as we passed through the turnstiles. I shrugged of Minnie’s advances and rushed over to Kilamanjaro Safari - walk on. Haven’t done this before. Queues have always been too long. This isn’t a ‘bad’ attraction. However, I think I had my expectations set too high. Took a few pictures – must work out how to post them here…

Pottered about Africa for a while then stopped at Tusker House for breakfast - 1x Orange Juice, 1 scrambled egg, sausage, homefries, biscuit and coffee for me. GF had 1x Orange Juice, 1x yogurt, 1x fruitpot, 1x muffin,1x water. $22. Not bad. Sat in stunned silence as GF demolished the biggest breakfast I have ever seen her eat.

Dinoland - missed completely last trip. How? Dinosaurus, 5 min wait, tri. Spin 10 mins. More Pins purchased… Dinoland doesn’t really fit the mix at Animal Kingdom. Feels like an afterthought or space filler.

I had developed a bad headache. I had read that you can by basic medicines at most of the shops and indeed I did. A cast member sold me 2 advil for a dollar... She was an angel, an expensive angel! We strolled around the pathways. Walked into a tree…. No, it walked into me..? The tree proceeded to perform gymnastic feats well beyond most arboreal abilities. I took a few pics, but on seeing the images at home it looks like a big vine/tree.

Kali rapids - no fastpasses, will do another time. (35 minute wait seems too long). All other attractions had short lines. Arguably, too short. If you walk straight through you miss so much of the attraction.

More food… Cookie ice-cream… Dole Whips are not my thing. But, I do have to get a daily ration of the ice-cream and cookie sandwich things.

GF wanted some McDonald’s French fries $2.50!! I had a Diet Coke and we waited for the next show of Tarzan Rocks. The Roller Bladers were impressive, very smooth. Not as smooth as Tarzan’s chest though. If he had waxed any more he would have removed a lung.

Left at 1.20, and drove to Crossroads. Goodings supermarket. Stocked up on Water, Mountain Dew, Advil, hair spray, special k bars etc and return to Hilton by 2.20. Have a snooze for an hour or so...

Oops, wake up at 5.30! Get up and get ready. Hopped in car and headed to the Boardwalk at 7.00.

Never been to the Boardwalk before – loved it. Relaxed atmosphere, street entertainers, nowhere near as busy as DD.

Went to River Grill. Chicken and Tortilla Soup (really good), meatloaf for me, salad for GF, water, coke, mudslide = $34 ex tip Decided to go back when not driving to sample beers and visit JellyRolls.

ESPN was buzzing. Lots of cheers… Buccaneers lost – Guess I was the only person supporting Tampa. Stopped off at DD on way back to hotel – apparently we haven’t got enough pins yet. Have a drink in the bar and retire at 11.00pm.

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.

You shrugged off Minnie's advances  ?! Sorry you weren't more taken with the Safari. Apart from the story of Little Red!, I really enjoy this

Boardwalk is great - particularly at night!
