My birthday! Big 3-0... Loaded up car and dashed over to the Boardwalk Inn. Checked in and into room by 10.30. The room is a reasonable size, slightly bigger than that of the CSR. A small balcony overlooked the gardens and a quiet pool.
The Boardwalk area is great - my new fave place...
Had a late breakfast at Spoodles - all american, bagel n cream cheese, two juice, 1 latte - $21. Much better than the dinner we had eaten there a few nights earlier.
Caught friendship to MGM and caught a couple of shows wed missed out on. The animation tour was good and the artist impressed me by being able to understand questions asked by one gentleman with a very thick Geordie accent. Indiana Jones show was entertaining. A couple of the audience/extras were particularly funny.
Return to boardwalk via every shop on route! We are now walking merchandise catalogues - able to identify each and every item on sale by its barcode!
Catch boat back to boardwalk, stop off at a shop(!). Tried to call the UK but failed to get the payphone to accept my credit card - amazing considering everything else around here is more than happy to pounce on it!
Walked back to room - dawned on me that the layout of the hotel is such that the walk is no shorter than that of the CSR. We were almost at the very end of a corridor and although quiet it was a fair trek back to reception. Didnt find a more direct route to the Boardwalk either. Our explorations always ended up in a fire-escape or face to face with a fence!
Crash out on bed for an hour or so. Will be wandering over to Epcot at 6 to visit a couple of countries we missed last week - and to complete GF's pressed penny collection (argh!)
Oops, again we slept longer than intended... Epcot postponed until the morning.
Got ready and hit the Boardwalk again. Big River - wanted to try their beers. 5x beer, 1x mudslide, shared crab and artichoke dip starter with nachos. Fillet medallions, mash and zuchini. Pasta alfredo. 1x chocolate confusion. Really enjoyed this meal. Only realised at the end of the meal that you can order a beer sampler containing a small glass of each. I had worked my way through them without resorting to miniatures! However, after Rocket Red I couldnt really taste the rest.. Bill $95 inc tip... Sounds a little expensive in hindsight
Walked off dinner by . visiting shops!
Paid the $7 admission to get into jellyrolls. Very small but friendly and enthusiastic crowd. Pianists were amazing. I have never heard Aerosmith played on a piano before! After a couple of drinks we had to leave. The air-conditioning was obviously set to deal with a much bigger crowd and we were freezing.
Bought a Boardwalk pin, couple of t shirts and 3 bottles of water and returned to the room.
Had a shower, very powerful and the massage head was wonderfully relaxing. Stood under it for ages happy that it wasnt my gas/water bill. Decided to have breakfast in room, so made our selection and hung on door knob.
