A Magical Gettaway~ A June 2012 Mother/Daughter Trip! PTR- 7/5 Link to TR!!!!!

Oh my goodness!!! One more week from tomorrow morning E-A-R-L-Y and we're on our way!!!!! Hooray!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Ok, first off, I want to apologize BIG TIME for being absent for so long during this very crucial and exciting time period! I mean, if you haven't noticed we are down to something like....

7 MORE SLEEPS!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I know I'm basically jumping out of my skin, I am so excited!

As you may or may not have read in my mom's post about the weekend activities, I was camping at a state park for my brother's birthday! His birthday was actually yesterday, but he wanted to go camping with us and our cousin who is his age. It's hard to believe he's 13 already! time really does fly! But to keep you entertained with pictures, I'll post some from this weekend. I did NOT bring my good camera! That is being saved for Disney! This weekend was a lot of fun!

We stayed in a lean-to, and there were six of us, so it was a tight fit!

Camping20123.jpg

The first night that we were there rained and thundered, but Saturday morning it was beautiful!! We went for a hike up the mountain.

Camping20126.jpg

This was....interesting... We've got six people who range in age and have very little experience hiking. We had my youngest brother who is 8, my other brother who just turned 13, and our cousin who is 13, then me and my step mom and my dad. WELL, the two 13 year olds just TOOK OFF, leaving my 8 year old brother throwing a fit back with my dad, while my step mom and I were in the middle trying to wait for the two lolligaggers as well as keeping the teenagers in sight! Well, the 8 year old finally came out of it, and he was my walking partner as we struggled to catch up to the lean and mean 8th grade bodies ahead of us!

Well, we finally got to the lookout (a big rock with no trees around) and realized our goal (the fire tower) was another several hundred feet UP!

This is the view from the rock:

Camping201214.jpg

I'm pretty sure I can rock climb Mount Everest now because these rocks were NOT forgiving! I really enjoyed it because of the adventure, but everyone else in my family was terrified! I mean...

Camping201233.jpg

Yeah, we climbed that! :scared:

I have to say, though, the reward was something!! The view was unbelievable! But of course, in order to get a view, one needed to climb the fire tower which was sketchy in itself. I'm talking narrow and metal!

Camping201224.jpg

That was at the top looking down through the hole in the floor, but this thing was HIGH!

The view:

My personal favorite:

Camping201225.jpg

Look how high we were!! That's my dad down there, he and the 8 year old said "nooooo way!!!!!"

Camping201228.jpg

Well, after we rested for a bit on the mountain top, we decided to make the dangerous trek DOWN the boulders. I'm serious, that picture does not give justice to what it really was! It was just rock on rock on rock! It was a lot of fun... for me at least! However, the poor thing, the 8 year old's knee really started to hurt him, and I completely understand!! My knees ALWAYS hurt me, and we're both built the same. Well, we took it slow off the mountain, and the 13 year old boys took off again! :confused3 I don't know how they do it! Especially since my 13 year old brother suffers from anxiety and balance/motor skill issues. That was NOT the case today! Maybe it was because his cousin was there?? Well ANYWAY, we finally met the older boys at the bottom and wobbled our way back to the campsite.

Camping201245.jpg

Please excuse my sweaty appearance! That's me and the 8 year old! :goodvibes

So anyway, when we got back to the campsite, we made lunch and relaxed our muscles a bit before going to the lake so the boys could fish and swim. It was such a beautiful day! I'm mad I didn't bring my camera!! Seeing the tower up on the mountain was so cool! It was like, "we really hiked THAT far??" We spent the rest of the night just hanging out, and had deliciously creative fire-cooked goodies! The next morning we had to be out by 11, and we slept in till 9! It was a bit of a rush to make breakfast and get out of there!

Vermont is given a hard time because it's so small, and there are no cities or huge malls, but once in a while it is great to take in the geographical beauty of the land! I mean, those mountains are gorgeous! Personally, I couldn't hike that mountain and find entertainment in nature everyday and the snow in the winter time out-weighs the pretty landscape! BUT it is nice to appreciate where you come from! :goodvibes

I know I said the next post will be about packing, but honestly I completely forgot about this little excursion! Ok, the NEXT one will DEFINITELY be a packing update! We are getting so close people!!!!!

Yay, Ems!!! 7 MORE SLEEPS!!!! We can do it, we can do it, we can do it!!! Hahahah! We're both jumping out of our skin with excitement! hahahahah! Especially because it was MY LAST DAY WITH STUDENTS TODAY!!!!!! WOOT WOOT WOOT WOOT WOOT! Yes, that deserved FIVE woots!!! Finals are always stressful and this year seemed even more so as I had to deal with several students in tears, some not bothering to hand in projects, some obviously not studying and then just shocked to pieces when they failed their final! Luckily, I have enough who do a great job, so to balance out the icky stuff. My classroom is packed up, clean as a whistle and ready for the custodians to come in to paint and treat the floors. We have inservice tomorrow and graduation Friday night, then I'm in FULL-ON DISNEY MODE!!! :)

PS - Emma doesn't get that camping gene from me, the picture of that lean-to gave me the willies, no WAY would you catch me sleeping in there! hahahahah! But the hiking and enjoying the views, yup, right there with my beautiful daughter!!!! It's pretty breathtaking up here at this time of the year! :flower3:

7 MORE SLEEPS! That's so exciting! :banana::yay::dance3:

That sounds like a great camping trip! I'm not sure I could handle that much hiking! My endurance is not very impressive! :rotfl:

Wow, those pictures are beautiful! What a view! :)

I can't wait for your next update! You're SO CLOSE!

Wow... those pictures ARE beautiful, but GREAT DAY IN THE MORNIN I could not do that. I'm TERRIFIED of heights! Like honestly, I can't even stand on chairs because it freaks me out. (Don't ask me how I ride Tower of Terror and Everest... I have no clue.) Anyways, I give you serious credit!

Yall are gonna have such a great time and I can't believe it's so soon!!!

It's almost over!! Then it's DISNEY TIME! Can't wait!! :hyper:

And no, I do not! :lmao: I couldn't do it a lot, but once in a while camping/hiking is fun! It's the ADVENTURE! ;)

YAYAYAYAYAY!!!! We are so excited!!

It really was a great trip! I was really surprised my whole family made it up there! We went slow, and after four hours we were back down on the low land again (if low-land is even possible in Vermont! :lmao:).

Me neither because that means.... WE'LL BE PACKING!!!!! :cool1:

:rotfl2: For some reason this did not bother me! I also get very woozy and a bit dizzy on a chair :rotfl2: but not climbing a stinkin' mountain!!

I am so excited to share it all with everyone when we get back! I am promising myself that I'm going to take like thousands of pictures and document everything! :rotfl:

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

7 MORE SLEEPS!!!

I'll trade with you....I'll take your 7 sleeps & you can have my 107! :rotfl:

Sounds like y'all had a fantastic camping trip! I can't believe you hiked all the way up there! :crazy2: The pictures are very beautiful though! :thumbsup2

:lmao: That's ok, I'll stick with our time left! :lmao:

Even though, it would be really nice to go during October! The weather would be much more bearable and the Halloween decorations are too cute! There's just no way I could go with school and basketball starting up! :sad2:

Thank you! We did! It was great, and I am so surprised we made it too! :lmao:

Spa day!!!!!! Graduated our seniors last night in a super hot and stuffy gym (I'm never sure why we don't hold our graduations outside - we have plenty of room for it), so all of my school obligations are DONE! E and I have our massage and pedi appointment at 12:45 today and then it's back home to finish up our window deco and start packing!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

So for some annoying and unknown reason, I am unable to choose my normal size and color of my text! :headache: BUT, I am going to update anyway!

Happy Father's Day Weekend everyone!

Today has been great! We had our spa time this afternoon, and let me tell you it was NICE! I haven't had any professional treatment in probably two years, so it was definitely necessary! It was also a great way to get ready for our crazy vacation which is in 3 flippin' days!!!!!! :dance3:

Here are our toes! Mine are on the left and Mom's is the right.

When we got home today, we started our packing! I have six dresses (all from Old Navy) that I am bringing along with a couple pairs of shorts and shirts. I want to have enough options, so if I need to change during the day, I won't run out of clothes! Plus, I always bring more than I need! What can I say? I'm a girl!

IMG_0791.jpg

We are also bringing some of my stuffed Minnies and Mickeys to put in the window sill! We made some more posters for the window and punched holes in them, so we can hang them up in the window. BUTTTT, I'm not going to show you them! It's a surprise! Here are our stowaways! ;)

IMG_0790.jpg

Since I have been bitten by the pin trading bug, I went through my pins and decided which ones I wanted to bring and trade!

IMG_0788.jpg

The other day, I purchased some tanning oil and sunscreen for my face! Since I really want to get tan, but not burn, I have these two options!

IMG_0789.jpg

The Aveeno smells soooooo good!!!! I use that for my face since it's more sensitive, and I use the tanning oil for my shoulders and legs! :goodvibes

Ok, so I know it's a bit off topic, but I have to plug my face wash for a bit because it is AMAZING! I don't STRUGGLE with acne, but I do battle a few pimples here and there which don't go away EVER! So frustrating!! Well, my mom was at the store one day, and I asked her to pick up some face wash. I told her that I didn't have a specific kind that I used since none of them actually worked! Well, my mom picked up this Noxema blemish control, and let me tell you, IT IS AMAZING! My face just cleared up, and after several weeks of use, I haven't seen a real pimple on my face!:banana:

So, anyway, moving on! We lamenated our lime green Mickey heads which will be attached to our park bags!

IMG_0794.jpg

I am so excited!!! It's getting so close!! I might be able to get one more update in before we leave, but I'm not sure! I'll be working full days Monday and Tuesday which is going to be so hard!! Mom might be able to since she's done with school for the summer! :sad2: Lucky!

Hopefully we'll be able to do some live updates during the trip! If I don't get back on before we leave, I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU for following along!! You are all awesome!!!!

Yup, I'll be here to pick up any slack in the next couple of days. Emma will be with her dad tomorrow for father's day! Happy Father's Day to the dads out there!!! We're tightening up our itinerary and since I'm sort of free the next few days, I'll pick up any last minute stuff. I just have to do a peer review for a theatre teacher candidate on Tuesday evening for the Department of Ed. Nothing like last minute scheduling! Gotta love the DOE! hahahah! ;)

I can't get my font color and size to work either!

Oooh spa time sound amazing! I love your toenails! :thumbsup2

As females, it's our perogative to bring way too many clothes. It's who we are. It's what we do. ;)

I love that Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil! Seriously, that stuff just smells like summer to me! :cloud9:

My mom swears by Noxema! She uses the regular kind, and I'm pretty sure she's been using that and only that since she was a teenager!

AHHH 3 days! That's insane! I'm so excited for you!
