A lurker with a question about Tower of Terror receptions

I'm a long time lurker of this board. I'm not engaged yet, or really
even thinking about getting engaged any time soon, but I'm just a little
bit in love with the idea of a Disney wedding  I've even already told my
boyfriend that if and when we get married, its happening at Disney. I
told my parents too, just to give my dad plenty of warning :rotfl:

So...anyways...I was wondering if it were possible to have a reception
in or near the Tower of Terror? I thought I heard something about it,
but can't remember now. If you can, where does it all happen? I pretty
much think that would be the most amazing reception location (can you
guess what my favorite ride at Disney is?)

I feel silly even asking this question and posting here because I'm not
a Disney bride, but my curiosity is getting the best of me. Thanks
ladies!

I know that brides have been able to go for rides on TOT with their guests after hours, and I'm pretty sure that somebody has had a reception in front of the ride. Disney can make just about anything happen... for a price! :thumbsup2

ArelysAdriana, welcome to the Weddings & Honeymoons Board!

When I was planning my vow renewal in 2004, one of the venues that I considered was the Tower of Terror. I wrote about it in an old trip report of mine: click here.

I don't know if that venue is still bookable for an event today, but if you asked the FTW folks, they should be able to answer that question for you.

Here is a copy of the Tower of Terror proposal that I was given:

Basically, I was told that the dinner would happen in the grounds in front of the Tower of Terror -- that is, in the the area outside of the gift shop. I asked if it would be possible to hold a small dinner party inside the attraction itself and I was told "no" -- Imagineering would not allow it since the attraction had to be in tip-top shape for Disney's day guests. I was sad to learn that. However, perhaps things are different today, who knows.

I love the Tower of Terror. I simply can't decide if that attraction or the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is my favorite. ;)

Riding TOT after your wedding?!?! That sounds amazing! I'm sure Disney could do just about anything for a price...good thing I don't plan on getting married any time soon, I need time to save for all my ridiculous (but amazing!) ideas! :rotfl:

Thank you so much :goodvibes
I must say, your VR trip report is incredible. I spent most of today reading it all and looking at your pictures. All of the details that went into your VR are just amazing. Your creativity is phenomenal too. The whole event looked so magical, I love it!

While is it understandable why they don't allow it, it is such a shame since that would be a perfect location for a dinner party. The theming on that attraction is some of the best work Disney has done. Can you imagine how little you would even have to decorate? I would just love to have a 1930's/old hollywood themed dinner party there

ArelysAdriana, for the Tower of Terror event, I was told that I would have to pay a fee to have the ride operable so that my guests could experience it. The attraction's ride came with a price. I don't know if that still holds true today, but that's an easy question for the FTW folks to answer.

The Tower of Terror is one of the potential venues for my next vow renewal. I've also been toying with the idea of making it a Hollywood and/or 1920's/1930's styled event. I think it would be fun.

I'm glad my old trip report proved useful. As time allows, I've actually been working on fixing it up. Once that is done, I'll work on completing it.

Have fun planning your future wedding! I hope it's not too far in the future.

Tower of Terror is zoned as an event space, that means that you can book it for a convention. Which means that yes, you can book it for a wedding.

i came really close to booking this, but it can only be done at certain times. i didn't want to have my reception after 9 in january since i thought it would be cold (i was right, it was cold AND raining).

ToT is the best themed attraction in disney. i LOVE it.

Ride pricing is based on many things - how many rides and if you want the ride all night or just for a set time. You should check specifics with DFTW as it is different for everyone (and technically contract based information is confidential per each of our contracts).

We had part of our reception at Rock n Roller Coaster - and yes, our guests did ride it as we did (yep in my dress!) and it was a huge hit!

Really? I did not know that! Any idea how many people it is available for? Thank you for the reply :goodvibes

Ouch, that is kind of late. Doesn't MGM close early some days? So, wouldn't it depend on when it closes, or do you have to have it after 9pm regardless of what time the park closed...? I completely agree with you on ToT being the best themed attraction :thumbsup2

By the way, I looked at your TR, you were one stunning bride. LOVE the birdcage veil, they are my favorite.

Wow, that sounds amazing! Where exactly was your reception held, if you don't mind me asking? That really sounds amazing, I'm sure your guests loved it.

Our cocktail hour was Fantasmic (park closes earlier in October) and then we had more cocktails in RnR and continued on to Muppets Courtyard for dinner. As Caryn stated - it's a late evening as it takes a while to turn over a public space.
