So when I went off on my long weekend in central Florida I didn’t think I was going to write a trippie, but then some things occurred and I knew I had to share with the Dis:rolleyes1 .

So I am puggymom, 41 years old and loves Disney:earsgirl: , pugs pug: and the NY Jets (but we don’t want to talk about them at this point:sad2: ). When I last returned from visiting the Mouse last spring I thought that would be it until February, but then I realized with the 2 trips I had planned for 2008, I would have no solo time and I have really come to love my solo time in the parks. Call me selfish, but I didn’t want to wait until 2009, so I decided to see if I could squeeze in a long weekend before the busy season at work hit. My mom (who usually is my pug sitter) was going away for 2 weeks at the end of September and with the Jets home schedule(I have season tix), Columbus Day weekend was the only one that would work for me.

Hold on I need to back up here. See on my last trip I came home with the mother of all souvies, a DVC membership. :cool1: I bought a re-sale contract that had some carryover points. :thumbsup2 I didn’t close until the week of July 4th and by the time I got in the system to make ressies I couldn’t get in any of the DVC properties for all my nights. Since I didn’t want to move around when I was there for such a short time, I used my carryover points to book a room at POFQ.

Also as a result of last trip I had a credit with Jet Blue, we had arrived so early that there was no gate for us so we sat on the tarmac for 45 minutes, we ended only 5 minutes late, but they still gave everyone on board a credit towards a future trip. Not one to complain, I gladly took it.:woohoo: So I had my DVC points and an airline credit. As soon as I closed and I got a room ressie, I booked a flight for about $125 with my credit. I played around on the National Car site to get a car rental at a decent price (that took some work).

Now I had to put a plan in place. Let’s face it if you are reading this you are a Disser and therefore most likely an obsessive planner. ;)

While waiting to close I had already formulated a plan in my head. It went like this…
Day 1 fly down after work and drive to Tampa. Why Tampa….
Day2 Busch Gardens and later that day drive to WDW to check in
Day 3 Epcot
Day 4 MGM
Day 5 Segway tour and MNSSHP
Day 6 Fly home

Next up departure day…

I think this is as early as I've ever been!

You've intrigued me with your "need to share" foreshadowing! :rolleyes1

:woohoo: I'm here, I'm here and on page 1 to boot! :yay:

Obsessive planners? Who us? :rolleyes1

Do tell!!!!! What happened?

Thanks for stopping by everyone.

Oh and DLMama, your spirit was with me on this one;)

I was uninspired to work today, so I worked on my trippie instead:)

So the plan today was to work until 1pm and go straight to the airport for a 3:30 flight. I was doing carryon only this time and I did online check in when I got to work that morning. No need to waste my paper and ink at home, that’s what work is for, right?;) By noon I was already gone mentally. Heck I don’t think I even showed up mentally at all today, to be completely honest. I turned my out of office on for my email and also left the message on my voice mail that I was outta here. I stopped answering the phone and email around noon as I didn’t want to get sucked into something as I was leaving. By 12:45 I couldn’t take it anymore and left. I’d rather be sitting in the airport than my desk. A quick ride to the parking lot I use and before I knew it I was on the shuttle van to the terminal. I went straight to security where there was a very long line. No problem, I had plenty of time. After a few minutes I reached the first TSA agent that checks your ID and boarding pass, he very nicely told me that I could go on the express line, I guess he has a thing for chubby blondes. :)

I quickly made it through security and got some reading material and bottled water before finding a seat at the gate. The plane was already there and boarding was still an hour away. OH YEAH! :woohoo: No delays, we took off on time and landed early at MCO!!!! :cool1: I hopped on the fake monorail and made my way to the National Car Emerald Aisle and picked a car out. I got a charcoal grey Grand Prix. It was a fun car to drive, but if you are tall this is not the car for you, but since I am a shorty I fit perfectly.:thumbsup2 I pointed that car towards Tampa and was off. You know what I love about I-4, the 70 mph speed limit. Which of course means you do at least 75. :car: With no trouble at all I found my way to the hotel (Hampton Inn, I have used other Hampton Inns for business travel and this one had a decent review on trip advisor, unlike the other hotels near Busch Gardens (from now on known as BG), it also offers a good free breakfast). I checked in and made my way to the room. It was clean, but worn. Also it was a non –smoking room and the comforter smelled like smoke!:scared: UGH! I called Mom to make sure she had no problems picking the furballs pug: up and she proceeded to tell me how Rocky (he is a rescue with a heart of gold and is also known as Grammy’s boy) found a box of candy and how he managed to get the cellophane off, she caught him just in time before he got to the chocolates. While on the phone with me she is apologizing to him for ruining his fun! Like I said, he is Grammy’s boy. She then pretty much scolded me as it was obviously my fault as I don’t feed him enough  (for more Rocky stories see the Quest for the West trip report and stayed tune to this one).
I watched some TV and fell asleep watching Grey’s Anatomy, I had set the recorder at home, so I just need to catch the ending at home.

Next Up: ROLLERCOASTERS BABY!!!!!

What a magical begining! :wizard:

You're not chubby. :confused3

Darn those "non-smoking" smoky rooms.

I should back up here again…

Last trip to WDW, I was supposed to go to BG on the last full day in central Florida. I realized going to bed the night before I just didn’t (well couldn’t) leave WDW property once I am on it. I knew there would be more trips and I would just make sure I went there first before checking into Mouseland. Since I knew there was no way I was going to go in 2008, I made sure to fit it in this trip…

Being the obsessive planner that I am I had checked the BG website and found that the park didn’t open until 10 am, so I didn’t bother setting a wake up call, the youngest pug is always up no later than 5:30:sad2: , so for me to sleep past 6:30 is a big deal. I was awake by 6 and just laid in bed and watched the news for a bit before getting up and showered. I headed down to breakfast and had a waffle, a blueberry muffin, yogurt and I took a banana, but decided I didn’t want it, so I took it with me to save for later. I headed up to the room to pack my stuff and bring it down to the car. I finally left about 9:15 for the short ride over to BG. Which I was glad, as when I got to the park the sign said today’s hours were 9:30 – 5. See you can’t believe everything you read on the internet. As it turned out it didn’t matter, the park was dead! :woohoo:

Being the obsessive planner that I am I had already bought my tix at AAA and had also studied the map online to get an idea of where everything was but it didn’t help. I am sure once you are use to the park it is easy to get around, but I was a little discombobulated. I finally made my way to my first coaster Sheikra. On my way over to Sheikra I noticed how hot and sticky it was already. :scared: My hair was loving it. NOT!!! They did say on the morning news how unseasonably warm and humid it was. Great! I guess this is what I have to expect for next August.

I get to the coaster and no carry on items allowed. Now remember the lockers from Universal last spring:mad: , with the finger scans that didn’t work. Well, thankfully BG uses key locks:thumbsup2 . Now they aren’t free, but for fifty cents it was worth it not to have the hassle of the non-working finger scans (I used lockers for each coaster I rode and never had an issue). I hop right on the coaster and get front row, there are only 3 rows with 8 seats across. Here are some pics of what this coaster looks like…

This is the main drop

Here it is from the other side, the drop is on the right hand side

When you get to the top they stop you for a few seconds and let you stare straight down while contemplating your fate. OH yeah, good times!:woohoo:

From there I found my way to Kumba another great coaster ride, that was also a walk on. Next up was Rhino Rally, it is similar to Kilimanjaro Safari at AK, but better. Maybe it was the driver that made the difference. The driver I had was better than any CM I had at AK. She was excellent. Really knew how to put on a good show. Disney should hire her. Some pics…

So I wanted to do the train next that went around the safari area, but it wasn’t due to leave for another half hour or so. I decided to try another coaster, Montu. After about a 3 minute wait I was off , but then it happened….

Oh, I am chubby, just careful about what pics get posted;)

Yeah I wasn't too happy about that smelly comforter, but at least the room didn't smell (HI V:wave2: )

Sheikra looks awesome! I love Busch Gardens Williamsburg so I am interested to find out if BG Tampa is up to par. Perhaps I will add it onto the 2010 trip.:scratchin

BG looks like fun. I'll have to wait until Evan's much taller. Can you imagine his magic shoes there? :rotfl2:

Oh and DLMama, your spirit was with me on this one;)
:scratchin: Hmmmmm.... did you take "What were they thinking when they put that on?" pics??? :hyper:

Hi Mo, I am here. Late, but here. I have been to BG in Williamsburg, but everyone tells me the Tamps one is much better. So far it looks like it is:thumbsup2

I am on board...you have a great writing style!!

Hi Mo! Got your message on Jo's TR so hopping aboard! Looking forward to hearing about the Segway too! :thumbsup2
