On Sunday we headed to Animal Kingdom, first we had to stop by the All-Star Music resort to check in so we wouldn't have to pay for parking. That went fast, the lady at the counter was not in a good mood. By far the least friendly of any castmember we came across on our trip. Anyways we got to animal kingdom about 20 minutes before opening at 8 and by the time we got to the gate they had already done the animal awakening, thats what I wanted to see but I guess they opened up a little early that day. So we took off for the Kilimanjaro Safaris, got a fastpass and went to get in line. We waited less then 5 minutes to board and were off. We saw every animal that was out there. Most were very close! Even the Lion was standing up on his rocks! Very good safari!!! This is also one of my favs. Then we went on the Pangani trail and saw all the animals there. The Gorillas were great! I could have watched them forever, they were very active and there were a ton of them! So there also great first thing in the morning. We then used our fastpass for the safaris again. In just that 40 minutes of time many of the animals had moved and there were not as many as the first time. I was surprised that there were fewer animals already. Then we went and looked around the Tree of Life and went to the Bugs life 3-D show, that was great! I don't think it was very kid oriented. Then we went to the Flights of Wonder Bird show. This was great, much better then the bird show at out local zoo! If nothing else you must go to see the singing parrot! He was great. I then went on the secret trail, which I think is not secret anymore. I saw 3 diffrent people when I went on it. Then we walked to the other end of the park to catch the Lion King show, this was also great! Then we did a little shopping in Discovery Island and went on the Dinoland and got a fastpass for Dinosaur, which wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. Not much to look at, lots of black areas. I like the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland much better. I then went and looked around Dinoland and went thru the playgrounds, I saw many kids that their parents were dragging them out. This is they type of area kids don't ever want to leave it seems. Then it was time for Tarzan Rocks. This was great, I loved all the stunts, my mom thought it was a little loud but still enjoyed it. Then we went to Asia to go on the Maharajah Jungle Trek, this was great. Some very strange animals along they way. The Tigers were all moving around, they kept trying to go inside but the door was shut. This was about 4 pm or so, so they are good towards the end. We then slowly headed over to Kilimanjaro safaris once again, there was no line, walked right on, unfortunatly there were no animals, so the end of the day ride wasn't good for us, My guess is it was too humid. There were many quiet moments on this trip, they guide had nothing to talk about I guess. We then went to bought a few things at Mombasa Marketplace, there were several items on sale here! Check it out if you go soon! By this time it was 6pm and the park was closing. We decided to eat at the rainforest, when I called earlier in the day to make PS reservations the man told me they don't do that on sundays there. I don't know, thought that was wierd, so there were a few people in line ahead of us when I gave the man at the elephant counter our name. He said it would be about 15 minutes, well an hour later and everyone else seated, even larger parties that came in after us. We were one of the last ones seated for the day! There were pleanty of seats available, so why it took so long to seat 2 people I don't know. So that was a bad experience but the rest of the day overshadowed it, we loved Animal Kingom, and my mom thinks its her favorite park. Well by the time we got back to the car it was about 8pm. We were at the AK area for 12 hours straight. It was then time for bed as we only got a few hours sleep the night before. Ok MGM and MK reports to come soon!

Nice Report!

No River Rapids? this was our family favorite as we rode it three times and laughed and sloshed our way through the park after each ride!

Stan, We decided to skip it, I heard that it was not that great of rapids and I hate to get soaked. Its ok when I'm in a swimsuit but to have all my clothes on and be wet is something I don't enjoy. Other wise I probably would have. If any of you have any questions, feel free to ask!

We went on the safari three times in one day and each was a different experience. It sure makes a difference on who your guide is.On our last trip there was no car behind us and the guide stopped 3 times near the best animals(elephants, lions and giraff) which I guess is a no no on that ride.We sure have some great pics.

Hi Andrew,
On your report you said you got to the KS in the a.m. and got a fast pass. Do you recommend getting the fast pass even if you hit the ride first thing?

jolinegkg, if you only want to ride it once, then don't do fastpass. We got there a few minutes before 8 and went straight to the safari. The standby line was only about 5 minutes long but we wanted to ride it twice, so we grabed a FP for that reason. The safari was much better the first time, some of the animals were hidden or gone in that 40 minutes. So I would suggest to go first thing. Its a lot of fun, I hope you enjoy it!

Wow, 12 hours at the Animal Kingdom! I can never last more than a few hours there, I always get so HOT!! How do you find the secret path? I try everytime to find it, what am I doing wrong? :o

Only 29 more days to WDW!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

swankybeth, It's real easy to find, at least I thought so. There is a big trail between Africa and Asia, it splits into 2, there is a trail that goes goes to your left if you are walking from Africa to Asia. It is a smoking area (so hold your breath) Anyways towards the end of the trail that leads back out into the big one there is a small coverd sitting area, to the left of that building there is a small area that is covered in barkdust, just follow that because that is the hidden trail. If you look on the map the big trail and smoking trail I'm talking about is btween the #9 Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Africa and #12 Mr. Kamals Burger Grill. You can see the smoking sign on the trail in the park map. just look for that building and go to its left and your there!:bounce:

Also we were in AK the hottest day of our trip and I didn't think it was bad. I thought it was better because of all the trees. So maybe I'm the only one that thinks its not bad in the heat.

Well hope you can find it on your next trip!

Thanks Andre, I am determined to find it next month! So if anyone sees me wandering back and forth and all around the path between Asia and Africa, don't mind me! ;)
