 What would you do?

This is the first time we will be doing a DCL cruise. We are planning on going on the 7-night Magic in May 2006. My question is...If we fly in on Friday night and want to stay at the Radisson that everyone is talking about, how do we get from the airport to the hotel on Friday night without renting a car? AND..how do we get to the airport from the ship upon return? Just little things that have my little mind working. Does the Radisson have shuttles from the airport or do we use a car service.

Thanks a lot.

I am not cruising until April 2006, but I have used these boards tremendously for planning

There are 4 in my group - and we are also going Friday B4 cruise - In checking the rates for Budget rental is appears to be cheaper to rent one way from Orlando airport to Radison (the terminal is not too far away), then from port back to airport (there are shuttles from port to rental agency, rather than taking limo and/or transfers then having to use cab for remainder of Friday. Having a rental when we arrive on Friday allows us to stop at Downtown Disney for some "Disney Warm Up" and then get some important things like beer for DH
there is a web site mousesavers.com that I know has codes for various rental agencies

The Radison has complimentary shuttles from hotel to port - but I have read you need to make reservations a few weeks or so before you arrive

All this is from what I have learned so maybe a more "experienced cruiser" can chime in

Happy Planning!

When we went in 2003 we flew in Friday night and then took the hotels shuttle from the airport to the hotel that night. The next morning we took the hotels shuttle back to the airport to get the DCL bus so we could get to the port. On the way home we took the DCL bus back to the airport. This time (in March 2005) we are flying in the day before and using the hotels shuttle to get from the airport to hotel. Then we have gotten a van (we have 6 people) to take us to the port and then they will pick us up the day we get off and take us back to the airport. I would make sure the Radisson has a shuttle from the airport to their hotel and then decide if you want to use the bus or town car. We are using Tiffany Town car and have used them before. They seem fine for us. Hope this helps. :flower1:

Also consider RON JON's Cape Caribe resort as an alternative to the Radisson. Is GORGEOUS and has a water park - lazy river and is on the beach.

If you drive, they'll let you park your car at Ron Jons for the week for free.

They have a shuttle service (Lynx Shuttle) to the port.

Thank you everyone for getting back to me. Let me see if I have all this straight....

I have to get myself to the Radisson on Friday.
The day of the cruise, Radisson has shuttle to port.
Returning from cruise, DCL has shuttles to the airport.

Do I have everything correct? I understand I need to make reservations well in advace for all services.

other questions have come up....how often does the DCL shuttle run? Every hour, 1/2 hour? And, does anyone have a suggestion for a car service from Airport to Radisson?

These are the "minor" details that can really mess up a great vacation. Especially when you are organizing it yourself vs. a TA doing it for you.

These boards are extremely addicting. I'm still in my PJs and it's 11:30am. Thank goodness the kids are off today. We are loungin' today.

Thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions. I have learned a lot from all you experts out there.

p.s. I think I better get dressed now.

Sorry... there is no hotel shuttle from the Port Radisson to the Ariport.. it's like 2 hours away.... if you decide on the DCL bus, it'll cost you around $50 per person rt, so that's why with more than 2 people, you can rent 1 way and save money... heck you can even rent 1w a NICE car and still be cheaper than DCL transfer for a family of 4....

i.e. 4 DCL xfers x $50 = $200
Convertible 2 days x $52 = $104

for 200 you can even get towncar/limo prices...

Thanks.

Does anyone have an idea of price for RON JON's Cape Caribe for the night before a March cruise? I don't see any prices listed on their site. It would be 2 adults and 2 children.

Thanks

Sorry about my answer.. I didn't know the Radisson was by the port. Looks like you got the info though. Have a great time.

The last time we cruised we rented a minivan at MCO and drove to the Raddison. Although it was a little tight with 7 people and 11 suitcases the ride was only going to be 45 minutes..........

Oh whoops this is where our travel agent called the cell phone as we were pulling in the parking lot and told us the cruise had been delayed 3 days and we saw the sign at the hotel on the door that said "CLOSED for EVACUATION DUE TO HURRICANE JEANNE".............. :earseek:

darn.........maybe it will work out better next time LOL

how often does the DCL shuttle run?
The bus goes when it's filled up. DCL has a lot of busses for the runs from the port back to the airport or WDW. If you take the DCL transportation, make sure you get on the right bus for your destination.
