A little embarrassing to say this, but an FYI if you have insufficient funds (dues)

I just got my bank statement today. The DVC dues that came out on January 17th were returned because of insufficient funds. ACK. The account the dues are debited from, I have a check direct deposited, and then the loan payment and monthly dues are debited. The amount going in is a few dollars shy of the amount going out every month, so every few weeks I make a deposit. The last deposit I made, I had figured I wouldn't need to make another one until Feb. NOT REALIZING...the 1st payment on the dues is bigger than the subsequent payments.

So, imagine my HORROR as I discovered the NSF. I called Member services to find out when the would resubmit the payment. I found out that they were not going to, unless I told them to. :scared1: So, here I am thinking they would automatically resubmit the debit, and they don't do that. So, they would of been down there waiting for me to send them a check by the 15th of February (they date before a late charge) and I would be up here wondering why they hadn't taken out the money. It would of been a HUGE mess. I told them to go ahead and debit my account TOMORROW.

So, here is the FYI....if you have NSF,(for any reason) don't assume DVC will automatically re-debit your account. CALL THEM...before you are late.

I suspect that you already know this, but there is an additional $20.00 fee that must be paid if you have NSF when they go to debit your account.

Ouch!
I am so glad those days are over for us! My husband and I don't get paid on set dates. I get paid by invoices, so I never know when my checks will be in my account. A few years ago, we had our visa attached to our checking account. On the rare occasion there isn't enough in there, it's taken care of. IMO I have always hated doing the check book!

Always a tough time right after the holidays too! Ouch!

That could have happened to me. I misread my letter and thought my dues wouldn't be coming out until February 15th, not January...lucky for me I had enough in my account to cover it. I was really surprised to see it taken out. January is always a tight month for us.
