Hello all
I have been a Dis lurker forever, but only while planning a trip to my "Happy Place". Started planning the current trip and this time decided to get more involved and actually register. Found WISH one day by accident.
:worship:
Words can not even explain how wonderful I think this group is. WOW!! Just WOW!!

Me:
My name is Lori. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for over half my life. We have 3 kiddos. I am a Disney FREAK!!! Hubby is not really grumpy, but he pretends to be when it comes to my Disney obsession. Thankfully, he thinks I am cute, and puts up with it. My goals is to transform him into a Disney nut, just like me!!

My pre-kids journey:
Started Weight Watchers to lose weight because I was unsuccessful trying to get pregnant. I convinced myself it was because I was fat. Lost 50 lbs and got pregnant. Then got pregnant again 10 months after having DS. DD arrived when DS was 19 months. I don't even remember those days. Had DS#2 in 2001. He just started kindergarten this year. Decided in was time to find the body I used to have. I started in January 2007.

How the journey started:
My Mom talked me into going back to WW. She said she was trying to get my Dad to go. She was going to tell him that they needed to go back to help support me. The truth was I was going to do it anyway and she was just trying to con him. They live in another state. I jumped into it full force. Mom and Dad waffled and eventually stopped going.

Life is harder when you are older:
Goodness!!! Weight does not come off anywhere near as fast as it did pre-kids. NUTS!!! It is frustrating, but I plug on.

From January 2007 until the end of summer:
I go to my meetings every week and slowly, but consistently start to lose. During this time I have to deal with two very close girl friends battling cancer. Also, in that time one of my husbands best friends gets diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. And, my mother in-law has pneumonia twice and spends a lot of time in ICU. It is very stressful, and most days I do not deal with the stress by eating. Most days!! I continue to lose very slowly.

Fall of 2007:
In September my husbands friend looses his battle. He was 38 years young. Our birthdays were only days apart. He battled with such strength and grace. Life hurts! Then October came and on October 12th my heart was ripped from my body. It was on that day that my Dad had a massive heart attack and died. It was his 61st birthday. Life as I knew it will never be the same.

The promise:
I would give anything to have that October 12th never happen, but it did. And since then I have spent a LOT of time talking to my Dad. Some may think I am crazy, but it has helped me cope. No, he does not talk back. Please do not think I am nuts. But one of the things I have told my Dad is that his death will not be in vain. It was horrible. It broke my heart, and the hearts of my three young children, but it will not be in vain. It helped me realize that I need to take care of myself. I need to exercise. I need to eat right. I need to live a healthier life style. My promise to my Dad is that I WILL succeed and I will get back to my goal weight!!

Current standings:
It has been 16 months since I started my journey back to me. Some days are good, and some days are not. Life has thrown some curve balls. Some I have been able to dodge, and some have hit me square between the eyes. (Or heart) I have managed in the last 16 months to lose 62 lbs. Woohoo!!! (I weighed in this morning. My meetings are first thing Saturday mornings.) The journey is taking longer than I thought it would, but I am still on it. I still have 43 more lbs to go before I get to my goal.

Why W.I.S.H:
I have been struggling lately and bouncing back and forth. In fact, I think I have hit 60 lbs 4 times in two months. Ugh!! It is time to get serious again, and I think a daily journal and a bunch of accountability partners is exactly what I need.

Today:
:sad2:
Another reason to start this today!!
My family left me alone and went camping. Quiet time. Woohoo!!!
Unfortunately, I made cookies, and ate some. CRUD!!! Someone should have locked up the pantry.
Felt guilty, so I went on a walk. I ended up walking for an hour and 40 minutes. Probably did about 4 or 4 1/2 miles. Not real sure because I never did this route before. I can usually do a 5k in a little under an hour, so that is how I figured out the distance.
Good news is I did not use ALL of my extra weekly points. And I did earn 6 activity points. I also put the rest of the cookies in the freezer.

Well, if you made it to the end you deserve an award. I W.I.S.H I had something for you. I promise to not write so much in the future. Thanks for joining my journey. Thanks for any and all support and accountability.

I am SO sorry for your loss. Good luck on the rest of your journey! It is so hard to lose that darn weight, but oh so easy to put it on. I agree about it being hard to lose after children. I swear my metabolism is non existent after having my son. It's crazy!

 Your attitude is amazing, I wish you the best on your journey. I look forward to reading along and offering support/encouragement :).

Thank you so much for the encouragement and comments.

Woohoo!!
Got the three miles done RIGHT before it started to rain.
The flowers need the rain, but I am sooooo sick of this weather.

Rainy, dreary, cold day. Uggghhh!!!!

Gonna start some :laundy:

I think I may get out the kids wii and play some tennis or boxing.

Get your activity in everyone.
Eat your fruits and vegetable.
And don't forget to drink lots of water!!!
:cheer2:

Hi Lori,

I finally made it to your journal. I am so sorry about you losses. You are an inspiration! You have lost over 60 pounds despite all the stress in your life.:worship: :worship: You sound like you have your focus back, and you will reach your goal.:thumbsup2
You certainly deserve that trip you have coming up.

Have a good one,
Beth

Thanks Beth. I don't always feel so positive, but I try.

That lovely TOM started Tuesday. Ughh!!! Luckily I do not seem to be retaining
water like I usually do. I usually stay the same or gain a little at this time each
month. I have been eating right, drinking LARGE quantities of water, and have
walked / run 16 miles so far this week. I am going to do 4 tomorrow to make it
an even 20 miles for the week. I weigh in first thing Saturday morning. My scale
at home says I am down, so I hope that holds true for the rest of the week.

I actually reached a pretty big goal last week. Some of you, I am sure, can
relate. I have a 6'1" 195 lb hubby. He is pretty athletic and has NEVER had
weight issues. My goal before we left for Disney was to get under his weight.
We leave in 9 days!!!!!! Well, last Saturday I did it!!! I am officially smaller
than him. He is actually about 10 lbs more than he wants, but he
can drop that in a week. SICKENING, huh? I am just happy to finally be less
than him.

I know it was a weird goal, but I figured if anyone would understand, it would
be you guys!!!

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Weighed in this morning and I am down .8 even with TOM. Woohoo!!!
Leaving now to go visit my Mother until Monday. She is not the best support when it comes to weight loss. I packed a cooler.

Not good when you have to SEARCH to find your own journal.

Life here is very hectic. Trying to get the house cleaned and everyone packed.
I leave tomorrow for my HAPPY PLACE!!!!

I have not exercised as much this week. Just too busy. Excuse, I know!!!
Oh well, that is life. I am going back to WDW and I weigh 63 lbs lighter than
when I was there in Dec 2006. Woohoo!!!!

See ya all when I get back. I promise to post pictures.
I also promise not to eat the World, but enjoy the World!!
See ya after June 7th!!!
