Yeah, I know- I've fallen behind again. Things have gotten a little crazy, and for once I actually have new stuff to talk about!
Thursday evening, I drove over to the pet shop which is about 5 minutes away. They have the open cages where you can pet some of the little critters so I was playing with hamsters and a rabbit. They're so cute! I might have to get a hammie once I have my own room. There was a cute little girl who kept asking me to lift up the animals for her so she could pet them too. A man there asked if she was my daughter! Uf! I'm always shocked when people ask stuff like that...I thought I still looked like a teen...
On Friday, Dianna and David went to see Finding Nemo. I had told them the day before that I wanted to go see it to but they didn't come back to get me or anything. I assume they went straight after work. *sigh* I guess I'll have to see it another time.
That evening, I was supposed to meet up with Sam/ aka Frollo on the DIS at Downtown Disney. Unfortunately, he didn't give a specific enough meeting place, and he didn't leave a message on my cellphone so we never found each other. I did have a chance encounter with 2 other DISers though! I ran right into Helenabear (Elaine) and Crazy4Disney (Beth) and was treated to a sundae at Gheridellis, the chocolate and ice cream shop- mmmmmmmm. We shopped at the World of Disney for a while (well, they shopped- I just looked). After we parted ways, I called Chris on my cellphone just for the fun of being able to talk to him from the Marketplace. hehehe. Ain't cellphones great?
The past 2 days, I've had to get up early. *groan* Traditions started at 8:45am and I so wish I didn't have to go through it a second time. That class is mostly very boring, though the 2 people teaching it were more entertaining than I remember from last time. The fun parts are when we talk about Disney heritage. We played a game where each table tries to list as many Disney characters as they can. At my table, I was appointed the leader so I got to write down the names- we got 2nd place with 52 names! The winning team had 54. For being the little, I got a "critter"- a little Disney plastic figure. It's Pluto, but to me he's a very strange looking Pluto. He looks drugged! lol.
We also had cards of Disney events that we had to put in order. I knew most of it but had the dates mixed up on a few things. The boring things we did include the ever popular sexual harrassment video, legal stuff, the guest services stuff they love to pound in your head, a video about dealing with chemicals, etc. in case you were wondering exactly what we talk about at Traditions. I met some nice people including a lady who's come to WDW every year since it opened. (she would make a great DISer). There was a trainer there who I knew- she had worked in Tomorrowland with me. For lunch, we ate in the utiladors under MK. I was excited to get to see that place again. It's like being allowed into a secret society.
We got our nametags and ID cards! Yipee! I wasted no time taking advantage of having my free admission back and went straight into MK after the class for about 3 hrs. Remind me to never do the standby line for Peter Pan! The sign said 25 minutes so I went ahead and got in line- wrong! It was closer to an hour! Next time, I'm getting a fast pass...oh well, at least I love that ride. I was also entertained by the family in front of me- a mother with 2 sons approx. 8 and 12 years old. They were quizing each other with Disney trivia and the mom was imitating characters and such. It was fun to watch.
I also decided to go on Jungle Cruise since there's a possiblity I'll get to work it. I still enjoy that one even when I've heard most of the jokes. It's cooler at night though.
Yesterday started even earlier- 7am! For the MK orientation, Once upon a time is now, they like to take us into the park before it officially open. Since it was an early entry day, however, we weren't alone for very long. Last time I did this, we were in the park a good hour before the public, and we got to watch them officially open Fantasyland. We did two rides during this tour- Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear, fun as always. At the end, we had a character surprise- Alice and Belle were there to congradulate us! We got MK pins too- pretty ones that say"Fantasy" with the castle on them (Last time it had been Mickey himself) Aurora and Prince Phillip were there briefly but didn't have time to stay. (it was the blue dress crew! lol) I told Belle she's my favorite. Alice then acted all hurt so I told her that hers is my fav Walt era movie. I'm not sure if she realized what I meant. After lunch, it was back into the classroom where we learned about different procedures at WDW- what they do for guests with disabilities, baby care, first aid, evacuations, etc.
Afterwards, we were divided into our specific area so I finally got my training schedule and found out where I'll be for the time being. And as I always have the worst luck, they of course assigned me to be training in the rotation I wanted the least...the one that includes Aladdin, Tiki room, and the treehouse. Oh well....at least Tiki room has a shpiel, and I do love the movie Aladdin. I'll be able to see the characters around there. I really wanted Jungle Cruise though! Only 3 of the 9 of us training for Adventureland didn't get Jungle Cruise. My costume is all right- reds and yellows, Arabian influenced which looks kinda odd on me since I'm very pale. My training schedule so far is Wednesday 7:30-4pm, Thursday 11:15-7:45, and Friday 7:30-4pm. I'll ask them if I can still be trained at the other Adventureland rides.
I went into MK again when everything was done. I had plans to meet up with Helenabear and Crazy4Disney again. Ironically, we ended up going on the same 2 rides I had been on that morning! Oh well. When we went on Buzz, I saw a family who were all wearing lime green Mickey nametags! I was dying to know if they were from the DIS but we didn't get a chance to ask them. I mentioned that the one thing I'd never done at MK was the riverboat, so we hoped on it and went for a ride. It's a cute ride. I love the attention to detail. I talked Beth into trying her first Dolewhip. hehe (ok, ok, it didn't take much convincing. lol) I bought a Dolewhip float myself- man, those are good. It was so nice to be able to finish it unlike last year when I was sick. While we were seated, we talked to Yepod from the DIS on Elaine's cellphone. We finished up the evening with a ride on TTA in Tomorrowland, and then we parted ways and I slipped back backstage to get to my car.
I hung out at Chris's place for the rest of the night. We played some old arcade games he has, and I realized that I really bad at them! Chris beat me at everything. boo hoo. I'm out of practice.
I'm off today but plan to go to Epcot later.
