A Jolly Holiday with Masseys: THE TRIP REPORT - WDW Dec2019

They seem to keep adding back more and more as the days and weeks pass. I sure hope that trend continues!

Me too. Seems like something different is announced each week.

Very nice family shot. :)

Thank you!

Never heard of that!

I think they have a themed meal for each Holiday.

Perhaps things have changed, though? Looking forward to your thoughts on the rest of the meal.

Stay tuned.

Really like this!

Thank you! I really like it too.

 But of course! Gotta go with the more expensive goodies. ::yes::

Exactly! And we all love seafood.

Haven't seen BatB in a LONG time. Loooooong time. The kids were a lot younger and I remember dying laughing at Gaston's muscles shirt falling off. It was hilarious!

I would love to have seen that. He is my favorite character to watch during the performance.

Not done H&V either. Guess it always had such a horrible reputation that I never bothered. Plus our crew has only ever one exactly ONE character meal- one and done for us (Akershus in 2000).

It' s amazing what you will do to make the littles happy. If you bring your grandkids you find yourself at a character meal or two. I think of it as killing 2 stones with one throw. You get to eat and meet the characters without waiting in a long line.

DHS-Thursday, December 19-Dinner and Night Time Fun

I'm sorry I hate to leave everyone hanging but dinner was ready and Dennis does not like to wait.

Speaking of dinner lets get on with our Holiday Dinner with Minnie and Friends. I'm sorry I don't have anymore food pictures but I will say we were all impressed with the selections. It was pretty good for a buffet and we were all pleasantly surprised. Of course the main reason we came was to meet the characters. Up first was the Big Cheese himself looking very dapper in his Christmas finery. John Paul was reluctant to smile at first but Mickey did finally get a smile out of him. I like the progression of these shots.

After John Paul he tried to get a smile from Danielle even though she was more interested in her crab claws. I like the guys reactions at the table next to us too.
587695

587696
587697

Donald was next and went straight for Danielle. She smiled right away, maybe it was because she was finished with her claws.
587698

Donald was able to get some smiles from JP, maybe Mickey had warmed him up.

587701

More character in next post.

Next to come visit was the Belle of the Ball, Minnie. John Paul was not impressed but she also worked with him to get a smile and a hug.

587702

587703
587705

Minnie was the one character I wanted to get a picture with.
587707

While we waited for Daisy John Paul entertained himself with the utensils on the table.
587711

It took a little work but Daisy got a smile too. She also got a smile from Danielle.
587712

587714

Once we were finished with the characters we paid our bill and collected our Fantasmic card. It was only a little after 6 so we still had time for some more fun. We stopped outside and got some more PP pictures around Echo Lake this time with the decoration all aglow.

Up next is more night time fun.

Really! That's good to hear. Maybe they heard all the complaints and did something about it.

Love this shot! :)

Well... sure. Never get in the way of a hangry woman! :scared:

I can see why! Great shot! :goodvibes

I had never heard of the holiday dine or been to H&V but your meal there looks like great fun. I love how JP starts off shy which each of the characters but is soon smiling. The photos of Mickey and Danielle are brilliant and the people at the next table are loving all the antics too. You and Minnie are gorgeous together.
You got some really nice festive shots that would make great Christmas cards. I really look forward to visiting at Christmas some year with the kids and grandkids. Now that grandbaby number 2 is on its way ins couple weeks it will likely be a couple years down the line but it will happen one day for sure. All in all a great day I’d say:goodvibes

The CM worked with him and worked with him but in the end he just didn't quite make it.

He was devastated and did what any toddler would do, he pitched a fit.
584102

Aw, that's a bummer! But surely he'll be tall enough next time!

Keeping with the GE theme it was finally time to check out Oga's.

That's too bad you didn't have a great experience. That weird standing alcove looks odd and uncomfortable. I've had a couple of ADRs here that I didn't bother keeping. I guess I'm not too excited to overpay for drinks I don't want and then have to STAND to drink them.

we had to hightail it across the park to use our last FP for Beauty and the Beast. This really is a big family favorite and we hate to miss it. I really hope it comes back soon.

I hope so too :-)

I was really happy to get a picture with Santa Goofy since Dennis and I had never had one.

He's so cute! Love all the pics

Minnie was the one character I wanted to get a picture with.

Aw, perfect! I love her! 🥰

Glad Danielle is settling in! Maybe we'll bump into her in August!

Donald was next and went straight for Danielle. She smiled right away, maybe it was because she was finished with her claws.
...orrrrr she looked cute this day and knew where the camera was....
Aw, that's a bummer! But surely he'll be tall enough next time!
spoiler alert... he was... and i gotta say it's not his favorite.

i'll admit it's hard for me to say i'll try it again, but i'll give it another go. Also... for anyone wanting a buzz, and not just a pretty drink... blue milk with a shot! HOLY MOLY! I may or may not have taken a nap on the ground outside of the falcon (shaded) while JP slept in the stroller after one or so of those.
The meal actually sounded really good.
we were pleasantly surprised. The meats were really good. I think everyone's been to a cheesy dinner buffet before with okay food. we actually filled up here, so that on top of the SUPER CUTE characters in their holiday garb... it was a winner!

Hey there. Remember me? I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. WHOOPS! Busy busy around here, as always.

So I wanted to rewind and interject a bit. While JP couldn't ride slinky dog and he was obviously overtired, I decided we needed a change of scenery and I NEEDED COFFEE! Or a snack... or a few. So Dad waited for Mom and Danielle and I took JP to the Joffrey's stand near all the Pixar stuff. It used to be the entrance to TSMM, but now it's just some characters and like a snack booth. But it was quiet. So i bribed him with snacks. Oh, and we LOVE the Incredibles, particularly number 2. So I got ... 1-some frozen drink that had a Mrs. Incredible and Jack Jack straw 2- a giant num num cookie 3- a pretzel to balance all the sweets 3- some coke float with a cookie AND cotton candy on top....i'm not even sure what else, but I know I got all but one of the things offered.

587856587857

He nibbled here and there but he was pretty far gone down the meltdown rabbit hole. So "let's sit and enjoy snack time" wasn't really hitting home for him. We basically went from this:
587859

To this:
587860

At least it was a change of scenery, right?

Although we did get to see the army men parade while we were in TSL
587861

I digress. So we're on Pixar Blvd or whatever they call it. Shame on me, I don't always know my terminology and don't have a map in front of me. He's melting down. I'm carb-loading. Then a friend deicdes to stop by and sit next to me, looks at JP on the ground and is like "what the heck is wrong with him". I look at him like, "your guess is as good as mine!" Of course this was all done without words because characters, like Frozone, don't talk. I only wish I had it all on video. I was hands-full of snacks when it all went down. This is the best I got.
587862
So no, I don't know where your supersuit is and I can't control my 2 year old having a meltdown. It is what it is.

We did end up trying something else. I let him choose who to go see, because he was really getting into having his autograph book signed. He actually chose Edna Mode.

The line wasn't long, but long enough for him to wander and plop down and roll around several times like a drunk man.

587864587865

Oh! I also wanted to point out how nervous JP was to meet Darth Vadar. I had gotten tired of his meltdowns this day that I was like if you can't stop, mommy is going to let you stay with Darth Vadar. I wanna say it started because I was texting Jimmy and he's like "Mommy are you texting Darth Vadar" and let me tell you, I just WENT WITH IT! Yep. I'm telling him he's going to have to watch you if you can't be good for mommy. JUDGE ME!

Another thing I remembered as I'm looking through pictures is how EXCITED he was about the Fantasmic sign on Sunset Blvd. He loooooves Maleficent. More on this later...
587866

587867

SOMEBODY was tired. He did get several catnaps, but man. We pushed it. And despite the meltdowns here and there, he was really good and just so excited and we really were having the best time ever!!!

Hey there. Remember me?
Hmmm... M, somthing...

Midge?
Madge?

It'll come to me eventually.

Marcia??

I decided we needed a change of scenery and I NEEDED COFFEE!
:rolleyes1
So i bribed him with snacks.
Good one to have in the arsenal. :thumbsup2

Holy cow! :faint:

(and that float! :faint::faint:)
Oh dear. Not getting a lot better, is it?
At least it was a change of scenery, right?

I'm gonna guess.... you?

No judgement here! I totally convinced my kids that the house alarm movement sensor was Santa's cctv when they were younger and that wen it flashed it meant he was watching so they'd better behave :rotfl:
He watched year round too lol. You have no idea how many dinners got eaten and homeworks got done with that magical red light flashing! Best part is my daughter now does exactly the same thing with her son :rotfl2::rotfl2:
Nice that Frozone tried to help :thumbsup2

I had never heard of the holiday dine or been to H&V but your meal there looks like great fun.

We really enjoyed it. I read this week that it is coming back this Holiday Season. I'm sure your Grands would like it too.

I love how JP starts off shy which each of the characters but is soon smiling.

It did take a bit to get warmed up but he did get there.

The photos of Mickey and Danielle are brilliant and the people at the next table are loving all the antics too.

I'm really liking these too. I never noticed the people at the next table until I went back to look at the pictures.

You and Minnie are gorgeous together.

I was thinkin about using some for Christmas cards but these were taken too close to Christmas. Maybe Dennis and I will get some good ones over Thanksgiving week that I can use this year.

I hope you make it to Disney at Christmas with your Grands. Maybe next year.
