So last evening, while I was discussing with DH about the new promotion (w/ Free Dining), Jeff says to me......"just what kind of hotel are we staying in?" When I told him we were staying at a nicer version of a Days Inn, his response was....."what we won't have our own balcony ?!?". Clearly this man has now been spoiled by our previous accomodations in Hawaii. :earboy2:

Now the question has become, should I try to upgrade to AKL or WL to make my DH happy, or keep things status quo at POFQ....I mean it is the smallest of the Mods, and should still be "quiet" (better than the Value resorts), right? :confused3

Thoughts and opinions??

You know your husband and your finances better than us. Is your he likely to grumble about the hotel all week if there's no balcony or there are other things about it he doesn't like? Can you afford a deluxe? Is he likely to grumble about the price of the deluxe all week if you go that route?

All things being equal, I'd say heck yeah, go for a deluxe - they just offer more. But all things are never equal and only you know the realities of your situation.

I'd have to agree with BostonRob--if you can be comfortable with what you would spend on a deluxe, I'd definately do it, particularly since it sounds like the qualities of the room are important to your DH.

On the other hand, I think that POR is auite a bit nicer than a Days Inn--it doesn't have that 'Days Inn smell' for one...

Have a great time, whatever you choose!

No, there is not a private balcony at POFQ. Also, POFQ is the only moderate without a sit-down restaurant. However, we found it quite lovely and exceedingly quiet (though fully booked) on our recent trip in April. Boatwright's restaurant is a 10-15 min. walk away on a lovely paved path along the river. Also, Downtown Disney is accessible via boat every evening for dining and entertainment -- the boatride is very pleasant.

If DH must have delux accomodations and is willing to pay, then by all means, change to a delux. If you're looking for a nice medium between delux and value, POFQ is a good way to go.

You could pay for a King size bed (if it's just the two of you) or pay extra for the waterview (and request that it be riverview), or just pay for standard (and request a courtyard view -- POFQ has beautiful little courtyards that are the same price as a view of the parking lot).

Because it's free dining, i'd splurge on a deluxe and go all the way :cool1: :cool1: I'm still wondering if I should change my Dec value season package at POP to a late September AKL vacation with free dining for what I suspect might be around the same $$. Have yet to crunch the figures though. I really, really, really want to stay deluxe sometime soon.

As you guys decide, I wouldn't wait too long. I just finished reading the thread about how many resorts are now SOLD OUT of this discount. Many deluxes are gone now. So if you plan to change, you better get moving, because by tomorrow it will be worse.
