A Hop, NO Skip, and Many Mishaps to a Disney Dream!

LOL! You sound like me. I like to see the characters, but I am a little more embarassed to go by myself. Claire is my "excuse"! :lmao:

Ah, don't be embarrassed. A few years ago a friend and I went on a Mom's Only trip to WDW and we booked several character meals. We took tons of pictures with the characters. It was so much fun. I'd love to do a Mom's Only trip again. You can act silly and be more spontaneous when there are no kids along.

As for the rude lady. I was a preschool teacher for 8 years and I will scold people for being rude to me. :) I would have said, "At the very least you could say please, or no fruit for you. But you really should be getting your own."

Been away from Dis for a week. Had 6 pages to catch up on. Loved the pictures and updates.

I think I am at 8 Weeks till I leave for my next trip!

Not that you're counting, right? :rolleyes1

Jen, I can sort of take or leave the beach. My boys love it, but I sort of tolerate. All that sand and sunscreen ...... ehh...... whatever. But your photos really make me want to give it a go again one day. Of course, if it wer in conjunction with a Disney cruise, that would be all the better......... :rolleyes1

The lady taking the fruit on your plate is just odd. People just never cease to amaze me!

I am really loving your pictures. I get some odd looks, too, at some of the things I take pictures of....

And just how rude and self-centered to you have to be to take a plate right off someone else's tray??? :scared1:

Oh my word! I can't believe that the lady actually took a plate off your tray. What the heck? Some people think nothing of being rude.

Too bad the food wasn't anything to write home about. At least it filled your empty bellies.

It was so weird. I don't know why she thought she could do that.

:cool1:! I wish I were going with you!

I wish you were too!

I would love a Moms trip...and kind of getting one in Aug. It will be neat to see how I feel about going with out Claire after it's over.
I should've become tha plate Natzi!

Good thing I actually hadn't posted much in the past few days. :rotfl:

I am not a super big beach person either. I hate sitting in the sun, I don't really swim much...unless it's REALLY hot (I do love hottubs though). But it was so pretty and Claire enjoyed it a LOT. And being that it was a Disney Island made it better!

Sometimes I forget that others don't take pictures of trash cans too.
That lady was so rude.

Hi Hi,

Wow I am so thrilled that I found this thread, your photos are amazing and your daughter is a little cutie. We are booked for 4 night on the Disney Dream for Christmas.

I love all your photos and my hubby is even getting excited now.

I can't wait to get stuck into your foodie thread my tummy is getting hungry just thinking about it. :cutie:

With regard to the "plate lady", I would have kindly handed her a new plate...right after I sneezed on it.

Ahahahahhahaha that's funny!

Jen I can't believe you are going in just 8 weeks. I am so jealous of you guys. Next time I will go for sure! I've been in August before though, and I will sayI am not jealous of the weather!

Kudos to Claire for her recital. Boys are just not interested in doing that sort of thing! My GDs aren't either, mainly their mother isn't interested!

Does Captain Jack still do the little pirate show thingy outside of POTC? I know the heavyset guy that did the skit with Capn' Jack died a while back. Anyway is that little show gone?

:cool1:! I wish I were going with you!

I AM going with her!!! Woo hoo... we're going to have a blast. Think about this.. before the Agent Education Program, I have a week long trip to the Outter Banks (NC) and possibly a mid July jaunt to Texas. Everything is jam packed this summer. Heidi's ballet recital (Coppelia) is on Saturday. Dress rehearsal is on Wednesday. She goes to the very professional Ashburn Academy of Ballet. It is very well run by professional ballerinas. Very organized. Henry's and my 25th anniversary is June 29th. We want to go to Gadsby's Tavern for dinner. It is a colonial tavern in Old Towne Alexandria, VA. George Washington ate there regularly before he lived in Mount Vernon. The wait staff dresses in colonial attire. But, we can't go ON our anniversary because its on a Wednesday and we wouldn't make it there at a decent hour after Henry gets home from work. It takes a good 45 min. to get there. We can't go Friday. That's Heidi's 9th birthday. Although her party can't be that day. On Saturday the 2nd we have a wedding to attend in Maryland on the other side of the Bay Bridge. Then Sunday she goes to girl scout camp for 3 nights/4 days. We're going to eat at Gadsby's on that Sunday evening after she's at camp. It'll take my mind off her being in the woods with ticks and fleas. When she gets back, we'll have her birthday party on Sunday the 10th. We can't do Saturday the 9th because we have a Bat Mitvzah to attend. I'm helping my friend Lori with the decorations, so I HAVE to be there. Then we're at July 10th. I have between then and the 30th when we go to the beach, to fit a trip to Texas in. THEN, I return from the beach on the 5th of August, and leave the 15th of August for the AEP. Then Henry and Heidi will join me at WDW on the 18th. We're done with the AEP on the 19th at 10:30am, then I'll move my stuff over to Saratoga for a week. I'll return on August 26th, school starts the 29th... and I thought I could go on the 14 day trans-atlantic cruise?:scared1: Don't think so. My MIL really wanted to go with me, but it doesn't seem reasonable. I'm worried about the extra long time away from Heidi, not to mention the low low cost starts to add up when you throw in airfare to JFK to catch the flight to Barcelona. Hotel in Barcelona and food. Transfers from the airport, then a flight back from Florida at the end. 14 days turns into more like 16 or 17. We'd have to fly out two days before since its an overnight flight and we'd need to get there the day before to be sure of not missing the ship.

Back to your trip report. Did you know that if you sprinkle baby powder on it helps remove the sand? The powder absorbs the water that causes the sand to stick. We used that trip when we lived in Ocean City.

I would have either scolded the lady who took the fruit off my tray like a child or screamed and yelled at her.

Its 10:00pm now, I am finally caught up on your report. I only have 500 more emails!! ha ha ha... lots of them are DIS thread notices though.

I still have to do the 2011 package training and the "homework". The Rodriquez family trip. That's my next door neighbor's name. lol I wonder where they want to go. I should ask! :rotfl: I wonder where I put the print-out for that? :confused3

I also need to work on the table placards and sign-in board for the Bat Mitzvah. We're doing a beach theme. I need to make table placards with the names of beaches and I'll decorate them with my beach themed cricut cartridge. I also will use the beachy decor on the perimeter of the sign-in board... and you know what!!! I think one of the beaches HAS to be Castaway Cay! :woohoo:

Thanks for reading! I would love to go at Chrismtams time, but I don't think that will be happening anytime soon.

Do you think she was around 50? I know I pretty much lost my mind for that decade! :lmao:

.

LOL! I would say yes, she was.

Wow that came around so fast, you must be really excited :yay:

I'm not going to wish my summer away though. I am happy it's 8 weeks away, but Claire starts school that week too, so I want to enjoy the summer with her.

With regard to the "plate lady", I would have kindly handed her a new plate...right after I sneezed on it.

I don't know. We were only at MK one day and I never saw one while we were there, but we didn't hang in that area much.

I still have to do mine too. I think I will ask for help or suggestions when i do it. I haven't looked at it even, in quite some time.

Now for some fun with the tube.

While Claire was doing tube tricks, I also would randomly shot things I could see. I went in about knee deep. The water in this area was pretty shallow far out. I also found out that this areas sand was not the nice stuff. It was more gravelly. (I’m sure that’s not a real word, but it is now) I kept getting little stones inside my water shoes, but I am so glad I wore them, as I think it would’ve hurt my feet. I heard a few others complain about it as well.

You can see the Cabana’s area over there.

I had to continually keep taking my shoes off to empty the stones out of them. This part of beach and water was not as pleasant at all on the feet.

And more of the Cabanas.

As soon as I took that picture, I noticed Claire’s mouth was near the tube and quickly told her to get it away! LOL!

And this is my last picture I have for Castaway Cay. Everything else is on the lost card.

I do have one short video. I totally hate my voice in this. I sound all nasally. And I have such a goofy laugh.

After the fun in the water, Claire and I went to Spring a Leak water play area. Claire loved this and played for quite some time. She squealed and ran, and played with many other children. After awhile I told her we had to go, but that stinker kept ignoring me. She just would look at me and give me the devil grin. Finally I acted like I was walking out and leaving her, and she joined me.

We headed to Pelican Plunge next. I was NOT about to swim out there and go down the slides, but I told Claire she could and I would wait on the beach. So we went through the Queue, got her lifejacket on and out she swam. The lines were pretty long for this. I was waiting with a few other parents and we would chit chat here and there. Claire made it to the top and made the plunge down! Then swam back to me…..”I want to try the other slide”. Um, I was hot and it was a long wait, but I said OK, one last slide and then we were heading back. So she went back out and did the same slide again. I’m not sure why, as she wanted to do the other, and I really never got an explanation on why she changed her mind.
By the time she got back from her second plunge, I felt like I was thoroughly baked. We had been applying sunscreen all afternoon, but I think we both still were a little crispy.
We had one towel with us, but it was pretty wet, so we went back to our chair to get a dry one, dropping the wet towel off in the bin on the way….and they were gone! The tube was still at the chair, but our dang towel was gone. I was not real happy about that. It was getting later in the day, but many people were still swimming in the area, so I’m not sure why they started the clean up already.
We just air dried then, we had no choice. We returned the tube and headed for the trolley, which was packed! We took a not so relaxing ride back to the ship. Not so relaxing because the row we were in had what looked like a seat facing us, but it wasn’t. I don’t know what it was, but it had marked on it clearly that it was not for passengers and not to put stuff on it…but a whole family sat on it anyways. And there was no leg room for any of us and the one kid actually stood on the ledge thing on way back.
Claire knew it wasn’t for passengers because we had talked about it before, and she kept asking why they were sitting there. I said I don’t know…and they had to have heard us. But I also wondered why no CM’s had said anything before taking off too.

Anyway…We got back to the ship and headed back to our room to freshen up and Mom was there too. She said her Glass Bottom boat tour was wonderful and she was so glad she went. She also said the CM had told them that today had been the 1st real nice day at CC since the Dream had started sailing there, and many of the CM’s were enjoying it just as much as the guests.

It looked like Claire had a wonderful time with the tube. That was money well spent. :thumbsup2

It was. She just really loved that thing. I'm not much of a swimmer, but if the water was warmer, I might've even gotten one for myself to float around in.

so the beach near pelican plunge isn't very good?
you said bad sand and bad water?

The Spring a Leak area was cute and looked like fun, if I was a little girl I wouldn't want to leave either :thumbsup2

That stinks that someone took your towel! I wonder if it was another guest or if it was a CM cleaning up :confused3

I'm pretty sure it was most likely a CM cleaning up. I have read of others seingthem doing this fairly early.

The sand there was pretty gitty and the water was fine...but the sea floor had that same gritty sand there too.
