A Holly Jolly Christmas.....in Orlando! December 2015 PTR

th
Safe travels. Always last minute stuff before a vacation. It's rainy and mixed with sleet this morning. I hope you trip to Buffalo is uneventful, and no issues with flying tomorrow.

We have a new memory card too. DD actually asked why we have to bring a camera, as we just want to see without stopping to take a picture. Old maid! We will bring one of our good cameras, and well, now our phones do a pretty good job too, so I hope to take lots of pictures too.

Enjoy Orlando!

Hi all, just a quick post to check in and say a big hello from sunshiny Orlando! The weather is great and we're having a fantastic time so far. We've done a ton of shopping at the outlet malls (some GREAT deals to be had....the best we've seen in a while), visited the Sea Life Aquarium and Madame Tussaud's, and have spent a lot of time enjoying the pools and the hot tubs at the resort since the weather is so very lovely. Today we're off to a late breakfast at Ohana's with my brother and his fiance, then maybe some mini golf or ???.

Traffic is a bit of an issue at times, but we're taking it all in stride (we anticipated that aspect of this trip, after all). We are just having a simply awesome time being together......even despite the few bumps along the way (let's just say we've crossed the Days Inn Buffalo Airport off our list of places we'll ever step foot in again, and we'll never, EVER rent another vehicle from Budget!!).

I hope you all are enjoying a fun "week before Christmas"! Wish you were here :sunny: .

Glad to hear you are enjoying yourself, even with the never ever agains. Hope you meal with your brother and finance was good. I like O'Hanna's. Kids were much younger, but they had great interactions with the characters. That meal was one were the only thing DD ate was a half a piece of toast and a glass of water. She's not a breakfast kid to this day.

Enjoy your Christmas!

I'm so glad to hear that you are enjoying your trip! The weather sounds fantastic!
I'm curious to hear what happened because I know you don't say "never again" lightly. As you know we use the Buffalo Days for our trips too so I definitely won't be booking! I had an ok experience with budget but I know this is two strikes for you guys. I'm sorry to hear of the bumps.

On a happier note, have a fantastic time and thanks for checking in!:)

Glad to hear you got there safely and are having fun now!

I wish I was there too! Although I can't complain about this weather, it's supposed to be 70 on Xmas Eve :)

Eek I just booked the Days Inn but I figure we will be staying there for at most 5 hours

I hope your experience is better than our last two. I know another Diser who was there the same night we were (Steve met her in the lobby, and I have been since chatting with her by PM) had an unfortunate issue as well :( .

Thought you guys might like to see the newest additions to the Bo-Bina family :teeth: :

We spent a couple of hours yesterday morning at Universal, and my strong man rocked the Sledgehammer games!

The weather has been simply marvellous so far.....so nice, in fact, that we spent yesterday at Aquatica and it was as nice as a summer day here in Canada. The locals are so sick of the warm temperaturers, but the visiting northererns can't get enough of it :beach: .

I hope you guys brought an extra bag! Looks like you are already having a ball. We had so much fun in Orlando. My life will never be the same after Hash House a Go Go! We have moved on even farther south to spend some time with family but wanted to stop by and say hi! Merry Christmas Gina and new Bo-Binas!!

Glad to hear you are (mostly) having a good time, and adding more Minions to the family. The hot weather is everywhere. 16C (61F) here for Christmas Eve Day in the usually snowy northland. Was considering wearing shorts to work today...

It's so warm and humid, the whole Quinte coast was socked in with fog Tuesday/Wednesday. We were at a full stop on the EB 401 with the engine off for a while on our return trip Tuesday. An Ottawa driver had slammed into the rear end of a parked truck at the Trenton OnRoute in the fog, closing the highway for a bit.

Wasn't a big fan of Budget the one time we used them either. Long lines and slow service. That's what pushed us firmly to the National/Alamo camp; I'll pay extra to go straight to my car.

Just dropping by to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! We are off to SeaWorld to celebrate the holiday. May you be enjoying a festive celebration today with the ones that you love :goodvibes.

What a great way to spend Christmas Day! Hope it was very special and for you all!

Merry Christmas to the Bo-Bina clan, and all my other DISBoards friends.

Happy Boxing Day friends!

We have to check out of the Vistana by 10 am this morning , then will be enjoying one last day of fun before heading to the airport for our 8:05 pm flight back to Buffalo. Fun Spot is on the agenda, as well as some last-minute shopping. I am glad we are going to be busy, as the "going home" days can be emotional at the best of times, and "busy" tends to be a good cure for the blues.

The weather has been incredible this week. Yesterday was like the middle of our Canadian summer. With the exception of our arrival day (which warranted jeans and t-shirts) the rest of the time has been hot, hot, hot (and even humid for the most part). We haven't needed so much as a sweater in the evenings (just the opposite....the nights brought no drop in temps on some days, not even a little "relief" from the humidity) and the only rain we've had was a 10 minute sun-shower yesterday at SeaWorld, just barely enough to dampen the walkway before the sun dried it up. Mother Nature couldn't have been kinder to us this week.

SeaWorld yesterday was simply magical. Crowds were non-existent until mid-afternoon, then even when the amount of bodies in the park picked up, we didn't find it awful at all (just busier than the morning). The park was gorgeously decorated, staff were fabulous, the Christmas shows were out of this world, and we stayed a full 12 hours from open until close. It really was a perfect Christmas Day.

I have had the awesome opportunity to say hello to a few Disers along the way. Steve met a fellow Canadian Diser at the Days Hotel in Buffalo last Friday night, another Diser said hello to me on the way to Shamu Stadium yesterday evening (though in the crowds, I didn't have a chance to catch her name!), and I had a very memorable meeting with another Diser at SW yesterday afternoon (you know who you are.....and you helped make our Christmas Day very special indeed!). Another Canuck from the boards is on our plane this evening, so there will be a much-anticipated Dismeet at the airport tonight as well. Very cool to have the chance to meet some internet friends face-to-face.

We will spend the night tonight in Niagara Falls before returning home tomorrow. We are stopping in Toronto to have lunch with extended family before returning home, as Jake has a Christmas party with his Sunshine's extended family later that night.

Thanks to those who have followed along, checked in, posted, and kept me company as we waited for this trip. Sad to see it ending, but I guess the smiles return as a new countdown commences. 119 days from today, the adventures begin again :teeth: .

Trip report to follow!

Well, we made it to the airport. I think everyone visiting Orlando has decided to fly home this evening.....it is a complete and utter zoo. It took us two hours to make the drive, check our bags, and get through security. I can't imagine anyone who allows for just the normal amount of time to get through the process......they will definitely not be making their flights!!

Yikes. I think MCO is insane all of the time. We fly out of Newark which is one of the busiest airports in the country and the whole thing is way less stressful than MCO, other than the car rentals which MCO has set up pretty well. But the security? Give me Newark any day over that bottleneck at MCO.

Anyway, hope the rest of your trip was crowd and stress-free.
