We thought that this year really could not get any worse and were looking forward to 2005, and the light at the end of the tunnel, but today has really done it for me and I am not ashamed to say that I am in floods of tears as I write this!!! DH was made redundant in May by the Royal Mail - after 24 years!! , never mind we thought and he set about getting a new job , which he did with BAA at Heathrow airport to start on 1st October, so we booked ourselves a 3 week trip to Florida and thought things would inmprove once he started at Heathrow!!! Off we go to Orlando in August only to encounter 'Charley' and for 5 days we had no power etc at the villa, arrived home relieved to be back in the UK before the next hurricane, and booked up straight away for next August- we had not been back a week when a letter arrived from BAA - they had run out of finances and could no longer offer him a job! So back to sign on again and look for more work the weeks passed and finally he secured a Christmas Temp job at john lewis Oxford Street, the signs were good with in weeks he was told 'you will be kept on past the 8th January' which is when he was due to finish. Then my Grandmother suddenly died, a big blow, she lived to a good age but it was unexpected. We struggled through our childrens birthdays early Nov and Dec and still told you will have a permanent Job, we survived a not so happy Christmas putting on happy faces for the childrens sakes but really missing my Grandmother who always spent Christmas at my parents. We thought that things were finally looking up - when I just got a phone call from DH, he has just been told that today is his last day at John Lewis he must go back tomorrow to return the uniform - and that is it... I am so upset, he was devestated and he still has to work until 7.30 tonight - We had pinned our hopes on this job - so he now has to go and sign on again tomorrow - so what a Happy New Year we are looking forward to
