A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/7) Prayer Request for Catie (p.129)

1. Billy seems like such a sweet kid :cutie:
2. Can you believe I've never been on Star Tours? It's true!
3. Ahh, Tricia. Poor, poor Tricia. She doesn't realize that the humiliation grows worse when she gets older!

Turns out when the elevator car dropped in the dark, Billy hooked arms with Ed and the man sitting on the other side... a complete stranger! When the lights came on Ed saw Billy holding on tight to gentleman’s arm and began to apologize. The man just laughed and said it was all right.

That’s the Disney spirit!

:rotfl:I love this story---it's so cute!

I can't wait to see of the crowds stay so low throughout the rest of the day!

Sorry... I was replying earlier and got interrupted!

Now, where was I?

You got ALOT done! It seems like getting there at opening is a plus and going to RnRC and ToT is good too. Everyone's probably at Toy Story Mania. Did it ever get busier!

Billy grabbing the stranger's arm. :rotfl2: I can imagine it happening and going WHAAA? and then just going with it! Only at Disney.

Ed did mention that Billy was autistic and the man was totally cool with it. :thumbsup2

I was so very grateful that we didn't have to "rush and get crushed" first thing in the morning! We did TSM later at a more relaxed pace... so much better for Billy! (And, of course, for the whole family.)

As the fellow mother of a 13-year old girl, I love it! My dd will get so embarrassed if I am, as she puts it, "using your loud laugh." Who knew we are so embarrassing?:confused3

And yay Ed for having the chocolate covered rice krispie treat! Only on vacation can one enjoy such a guilt free breakfast!:thumbsup2

I didn't even know he liked rice krispie treats!

I suppose we will be sources of embarrassment to our children for at least a few more years!!

Kathy

I just love your updates, Kathy!

I thought it was funny and sweet that Billy grabbed the other guy's arm!! And that he was so good about it!

So glad ED got to get even just a few minutes of alone/down time! Everyone needs that every so often.

Also happy that Catie and Trish heeded your warning about the headrests. That could have been really bad.

I really hope to catch more Streetmosphere this time around! With a big group and kids raring to go, it's hard to do that.

Low crowds, hmmmmm.. what might this mean??

I think the last-minute additions of more Fantasmic shows really helped spread the DHS crowds throughout the week!

Streetmosphere "shows" aren't listed individually in the Times Guide, so its hard to catch the acts sometimes. We really kind of stumble onto them it seems!

Great update Kathy! I have two teenage sons and I'm sure I've been the embarrassing mom more than once! Although I can't imagine why...:confused3 I'm cool, right? :lmao:

I will be cool again someday... ;)

More great updates Kathy.

Ugh, on forgetting the betteries. I'm sure the cost you an arm and a leg:sad2:

:lmao: at embarassing DD:rotfl2: I'ts what we lvive for, to embarras our kids...no?

Haven't been to H & V since the first year it changed to Jo Jo and friends. Jimmy was 3, I think? Can't wait to hear about it!

I really don't think I took enogh time to carefully pack my park bag each morning... so many distractions!

We do H&V every trip now because Billy gets such a kick out of it!

What a fun day you've had so far!

I can't believe how empty the park looks in your photos. That's my kind of morning!

Thanks, Mama Julie!

We definitely had good crowd karma that morning! :goodvibes

Kathy

I learned alot about touring this last trip. It'll play out in my TR and definitely in planning for 2012.

Rockin' Roller Coaster is my Absolute FAVE ride in ALL of Disney World!!!!! Rode it for the first time in January and LOVED it! :woohoo:

I absolutley Adore  Bucky!!! He is my Fave Streetmosphere Character!! Ken is quite a bit partial to Bucky's boss, Mr Dante! ;)

R&RC is amazing! And the streetmosphere characters are just so much fun! I want to catch more of them next time! :thumbsup2

Oh, I would have loved to have the same breakfast as Ed!

We've never done H&V, I know DS would love it as he still likes all those characters. His sisters on the other hand would think it was for "little kids" Can't wait to see all the pics!

H&V is one of those character meals that has really good food, both at breakfast and lunch... I highly recommend it, especially if your son likes Playhouse Disney! It's not just meet 'n greet, there's lots of songs and dancing with the kids!

What a lovely morning at DHS! I love days with low crowds. We were at Epcot that day and it was a bit more crowded there.

Can't wait to read about your lunch! I had that butterfinger cupcake it is super sweet, we cut it up to share it and couldn't finish it.

I am glad that you found out about that Doctor's reputation before you started working for him.

It always pays to ask around! ;)

I remember reading about the cupcake on your report...

Congrats on the forty pounds! :cheer2: I am still a plump pirate. I need to get on the ball before summer sneaks up on me!

Kathy

Kathy I am thoroughly enjoying your trip report!! You have a beautiful family!

If you want some master bathroom pics for your report I'd be happy to send you some - we stayed at Kidani last August! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more!

Thanks, Tosie, and :welcome:

Didn't you just love Kidani and the AKL??

2. Can you believe I've never been on Star Tours? It's true!
3. Ahh, Tricia. Poor, poor Tricia. She doesn't realize that the humiliation grows worse when she gets older!

Hopefully I will be less embarrassing by the time she reaches thirty! ;)

No Star Tours?? It reallly doesn't cause any motion sickness if you stick to the first rowl...

:rotfl:I love this story---it's so cute!

Billy is so innocent, really....

And I'm thinking he may not be the first person to instinctively reach out an grab someone on that ride!! :rotfl:

I'm just glad it wasn't a little girl! We'd really have some 'spainin' to do!

I learned alot about touring this last trip. It'll play out in my TR and definitely in planning for 2012.

Fantastic!

I definitely learn more and more each time we visit WDW!! (But I still make "mistakes" sometimes!) :rolleyes1

Kathy

Oh, it's not the nausea. It's just that I've never been a Star Wars fan, and mom and dad aren't crazy about the ride.

Eventually, I'll go on it!

Great installment!! I love the Streetmosphere people too, they are so fun. I try my best to embarrass Josh, that is one of the bonuses in having kids :rotfl:.

I absolutely love this picture:

Thanks, Tracy!

But it does look as though Mickey is patting him on the behind!! :rotfl2:

I would think that Josh would run when he saw them (Streetmosphere) coming!

Kathy

What a great morning at DHS! I love Ed's idea of vacation breakfast! I still haven't gotten to ride TOT, but I did finally get to ride RNRC this past trip and I just LOVED it! I can't wait to hear about H&V!

Great! It took me several trips to warm up to ToT!! ;)

Another fun morning. Billy looks so happy.

He was so happy, Mary! :goodvibes

Yikes! I've got to get myself over to the PTR board!

Kathy

Kathy

Oh my goodness I didn't notice Mickey's hand :rotfl:, that is funny.

Paige Turner did corner us when we walked into DHS one day, Josh actually went along with her and was laughing. I was too stunned to try to embarrass him at the time :rotfl2:.

Great morning at HS Kathy. You got a lot done before your early lunch ADR. I did not realize that your neice had Marfan's syndrome (probably because I didn't follow your PTR closely enough). I am a little curious about how she came to be diagnosed. Did she have any specific symptoms other than her height?

Anyway, great update, as usual. Billy looks and sounds like he is having a blast. I am definately stopping at Starring Rolls next trip.

I am a little curious about how she came to be diagnosed. Did she have any specific symptoms other than her height?

Thankfully her pediatrician picked up on a very slight cardiac arrhythmia several years ago and, noting that she was off the charts as far as height goes, sent her for an evaluation at Children's Specialized Hospital in Philadelphia. She's on a beta-blocker now and gets regular follow-ups by a multi-disciplinary team that specializes in Marfan.

Her biggest beef is that she's no longer allowed to play contact sports because of her osteoporosis... not even softball in case she gets hit by the ball! But this year she decided to go out for cheerleading and is having lots of fun. :goodvibes

Her pediatrician said she could ride anything that didn't have G-forces because she is on the heart medication. (But I have to admit that I was a little worried. After every thrill ride I would try to assess her... discreetly of course... for any distress!) Fortunately she was fine the entire week! Whew!

Kathy

How cute that Billy held onto another visitor's arm during ToT. I'm glad he was a good sport about it. Isn't it silly how we humiliate our kids? Morghan, who will be 11 soon, was embarrassed at how I was singing in church last week. Ah, kids. LOL!

I've been meaning to pick your brain for awhile Kathy. We just had a team meeting at school for Michael and am rolling some things around in my head.

this time our Aerosmith song was Love in an Elevator. I’m sooo glad Billy has no idea what the lyrics mean!

I have to admit that I think it would be so funny if Billy ever started singing that song IN an elevator!

:goodvibes Pick away... PM me anytime!

It absolutely could happen! He is constantly "sampling" bits and pieces of various songs throughout the day, and you never know what might come out of his mouth!

I was just posting over on your report about the R&RC music... what a coincidence!
