A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/7) Prayer Request for Catie (p.129)

Chapter 22, continued:

Ed finished his snack and we realized that we had less than an hour before our lunch ressie. We decided to head over to Echo Lake so we would be in the general vicinity of Hollywood & Vine, so we crossed Hollywood Boulevard and noticed that we had just missed another one of the streetmosphere performances:

Darn! I really like these!

And I missed a perfect opportunity to embarrass my daughter again!! :rotfl:

A little stop at the park's dedication statue and plaque:

The traditional dinosaur footprint shot near Echo Lake... Tricia always laughs when she sees these footprints because when she was little, she truly thought they were “real!”

Hello, Gertie!

disneytrip2009catie1266.jpg

Now what’s a good thing to get done before, not after, our lunch?

Ed doesn’t care much for this one, but he loves Star Wars so he toughs it out. We had fun discussing the proposed Star Tours 2.0 and looking at the queue props while we had our short wait on standby. They weren’t even using the Fast Pass queue! Luckily for Ed we were assigned to the first row, which has the least “bumpy” ride. Billy, on the other hand, absolutely loved getting tossed around in his seat! Add a video and heart-pumping music to the mix and he was in heaven!

After exiting we did poke around a bit in the Star Tours gift shop, just looking at tee shirts and things. I almost bought a shirt for Billy, but on this trip I was really trying to be good about not spending too much money on souvies, so I resisted. Yay Me!

There was a bit of a wait for the land cruiser photo-op, so we didn't bother waiting. Catie snapped a picture of the Ewok hut:

Believe it or not, it was now eleven o’clock and our Play ‘n Dine ressie was for 11:15. We took a leisurely stroll over to Hollywood & Vine and checked in at the podium. Billy was very excited. I think that over the past few years this has become his favorite character meal at Walt Disney World.

I love the theming in this area, especially the “apartments” upstairs:

Perhaps a future movie star lives here!

Our buzzer lit up and we were escorted inside. Ahh, the A/C felt nice!

Someone is very happy!

Next up: Billy gets the Lion’s share of attention!

Kathy

Great update!! I'm glad to hear Monday is a good day for H&V! :thumbsup2

I was cracking up picturing Billy linking arms with the man sitting next to him on ToT! :rotfl:

Just love Starring Rolls. Have you ever had the Butterfinger muffin? YUM

I can't believe the crowds...looks like you had the place to yourself.

Yay! A Kathy update ;)

I'm the same and like to play along with the performers... I got a kick out of your clapping and stomping and "yeehaw!"... :lmao: Alex would have run the other way, foregoing the subtle sidestep!

Love Billy's car pose.... I really like his t-shirt too.

Play 'n Dine! Can't wait to see more. :goodvibes

what a fun update! I love the streemosphere too, sorry you missed the performance. Billy looks VERY happy and WTG on resisting the lure of the t-shirt. It is soooo hard sometimes!

Great updates Kathy! That vacation breakfast Ed had looked very good! Yummo! It sounds like you guys had a great morning! Looking forward to hearing all about Billy's 'Lion's share" of attention! popcorn::

Oh, and The Rapist?? :scared1::scared1: WTH???

Sara

I just love your updates, Kathy!

I thought it was funny and sweet that Billy grabbed the other guy's arm!! And that he was so good about it!

So glad ED got to get even just a few minutes of alone/down time! Everyone needs that every so often.

Also happy that Catie and Trish heeded your warning about the headrests. That could have been really bad.

I really hope to catch more Streetmosphere this time around! With a big group and kids raring to go, it's hard to do that.

Low crowds, hmmmmm.. what might this mean??

You got ALOT done! It seems like getting there at opening is a plus and going to RnRC and ToT is good too. Everyone's probably at Toy Story Mania. Did it ever get busier!

Billy grabbing the stranger's arm. :rotfl2: I can imagine it happening and going WHAAA? and then just going with it! Only at Disney.

I love the architecture right around Primetime/HaV...I think I have those same pix...

I like to play along with the streetmosphere performers, so I began clapping along and stomping my foot to the music. I even threw in a little “Yee-Ha!” Tricia was horrified.

She sidestepped away from me, but quick! Thankfully, her dad was waiting so we didn’t stay for the entire bit. Tricia’s public humiliation was over.

For now! (Mwah Ha Ha Ha!)

Kathy

As the fellow mother of a 13-year old girl, I love it! My dd will get so embarrassed if I am, as she puts it, "using your loud laugh." Who knew we are so embarrassing?:confused3

And yay Ed for having the chocolate covered rice krispie treat! Only on vacation can one enjoy such a guilt free breakfast!:thumbsup2

Great update Kathy! I have two teenage sons and I'm sure I've been the embarrassing mom more than once! Although I can't imagine why...:confused3 I'm cool, right? :lmao:

More great updates Kathy.

Ugh, on forgetting the betteries. I'm sure the cost you an arm and a leg:sad2:

:lmao: at embarassing DD:rotfl2: I'ts what we lvive for, to embarras our kids...no?

Haven't been to H & V since the first year it changed to Jo Jo and friends. Jimmy was 3, I think? Can't wait to hear about it!

I'm glad he had a sense of humor about it!

I've heard tell of the awesome Butterfinger muffin and have seen pictures... its becoming something of a legend around the boards! :rotfl:

My theory is that because the Magic Kingdom was having a SpectroMagic parade that night, lots of guests were drawn over there. Plus, it was a Monday and lots of folks like to start their week at the MK...

Good, because I took a gazillion pictures at lunch!!

Rockin' Roller Coaster is my Absolute FAVE ride in ALL of Disney World!!!!! Rode it for the first time in January and LOVED it! :woohoo:

I absolutley Adore  Bucky!!! He is my Fave Streetmosphere Character!! Ken is quite a bit partial to Bucky's boss, Mr Dante! ;)

Oh, I would have loved to have the same breakfast as Ed!

We've never done H&V, I know DS would love it as he still likes all those characters. His sisters on the other hand would think it was for "little kids" Can't wait to see all the pics!

What a lovely morning at DHS! I love days with low crowds. We were at Epcot that day and it was a bit more crowded there.

Can't wait to read about your lunch! I had that butterfinger cupcake it is super sweet, we cut it up to share it and couldn't finish it.

I am glad that you found out about that Doctor's reputation before you started working for him.

Kathy I am thoroughly enjoying your trip report!! You have a beautiful family!

If you want some master bathroom pics for your report I'd be happy to send you some - we stayed at Kidani last August! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more!
