A great trip, but Florida For Sale Signs

A great trip starting 3/8 (we think) in PA, leaving St. Augustine's 4/17. We had a 10 minute rain shower at DIS. The last rain that we had was on 3/10 in Hobe Sound FL. Our timing was fantastic.

Caught fish, got skunked sometimes, touring, just plain fun. That is the woohoo.

The Keys, Fort Myers, St. Augustine's---Houses for sale. That is the sick part. Living out in the middle of cornfields in PA, news reports said Florida is hit really bad on home sales. We had no idea, untill you see the For Sale Signs. We took a ride south of St. Augustine's, think it was Crescent Beach. There were these 8 unreal beautiful houses on the water, all with boat slips and with walk out docks. No Boats. Six were for sale, one was a rent to buy and one did not have a sign.

Up and down A1A, for sale signs. What is going on ???????? On our tour we saw houses we would never buy and houses, like those at Crescent Beach we could only dream of. FOR SALE--I may dream of this. No, more like a nightmare ! ! ! A shame.

Wow, didn't know you were in Hobe Sound, could have met you for dinner.

And yes, it is that bad here with the housing.

Yeah - the housing and construction industries took the worst hit of all here. But when you think about it - many homes here in Florida are second homes for vacation or winter purpose. If you couldn't make one of your two mortgage payments, you'd probably let the vacation home go. That's part of the reason you see so many homes for sale here. The other is that our unemployment rate - according to the official state records - is just a little over 13%. That's what the state says. I'd be willing to bet it's more like 15-17%. Possibly more.
